well, at least it'd get the job done!
more food for thought - age - "caps" for new enlistments.
Active Duty None-Prior Service
•Army - 42 (must ship to basic training prior to 42nd birthday)
•Air Force - 27
•Navy - 34
•Marines - 28
•Coast Guard - Age 27. Note: up to age 32 for those selected to attend A-school directly upon enlistment (this is mostly for prior service).
Reserve Non-Prior Service
•Army Reserves - 42 (must ship to basic training prior to 42nd birthday)
•Army National Guard - 35 (changed from 42 in 2009)
•Air Force Reserve - 34
•Air National Guard - 40 (Changed from 34 in Aug 2009)
•Naval Reserves - 39
•Marine Corps Reserve - 29
•Coast Guard Reserves - Age 39
especially for the army, picture having to have to rely on some old guy (figure after basic and to the field) around 43 years or older humping gear around the country side, eyesight and hearing getting worse by the day, more aches and pains, needing more sleep or gets more tired, drinking ensure from the canteen.
it's fact the older you get, the less you can "hack it" as well as the young'uns.
so what's more of a liability to your survivability - an old straight guy that will eventually be not physically able to hack it, or a young gay guy that has least another decade to go before he starts "breaking down"?
how does age affect "unit cohesion"?
new policy: "don't ask - 'cause i can't remember" ?
hell, kickout / deny everyone 34ish years old or older too, except for officers, as we'll need their "experience".
....but then again, i guess you can argue that as long as the old guy can do his / her job - wait, THAT sounds familiar....
