I'm waiting on my first USO scope. It's delayed a few weeks from when it was promised. However, I can get a status from the owner of the company by sending him a PM on the 'Hide. That alone makes up for the wait in my book. There have been enough posts on this forum to indicate that most custom shops will probably miss committed dates for one reason or another. Nature of "Custom". If you can't accept this, go elsewhere or ask for your deposit back.

You never said they were bad scopes, and I never made anything up that you typed. You stated you have 5 of them, which I read as you like their product.
Communication is a good thing yes, but I don't see how keeping tabs on who's promised what date, then calling the orderer at a set time prior to that date with a new estimated time would make anything smoother and quicker for the scopes being worked on. JBWIII and crew do a great job with what they have, and my point is that more overhead (either adding labor or staffing) would do nothing but drive the price up.
No other scope manufacturer builds to suit exactly what the buyer wants, and that makes their operation unique (unique in this case being defined as unable to compared to anything else in the marketplace).
There are distributors that have "common" USO scopes in stock, and someone that needs a scope by a certain date can look into that option. I personally run an ST10 that I bought from a stocking dealer. It is not exactly what I would have had built, but that was the trade off I accepted to have one in hand at the time I could afford it.
Some craftsmen will stop taking orders for new work on their own due to an overage of demand, but I think the mix of recent events at the shop and scheduling issues with sub's (coatings, etc) have created USO's recent delays more than anything else.
I'm going to go grow up now........

I have my first USO now. I too was a little too impatient waiting for it to arrive. I will say this, it was 100% worth the wait. The next time I place an order I will know what to expect. I will place my order, send the deposit, and wait. I hope nothing changes at USO because I would hate to see any part of this great product compromised. Custom is custom, period.

I’ve never understood why someone would order a custom build, be it a rifle or scope, and expect instant gratification. As long as I can remember USO has always delivered the goods. If you look through recent posts JBW#3 explained some "technical" problems that occurred at the shop.
It will be worth the wait.

+1000!!! US Optics wait time is there because it's worth it. Their perceived "lack" of communication is there because they're focused on getting the job done RIGHT. Paying the amount of money that we do for a scope doesn't entitle you to a friendly greeting, ironed panties, or any other service that you think you should get other than the scope that you were quoted. It will be ready when it's ready. If you don't like it, then cancel your order and allow those more patient than you to have their orders filled sooner.
My scope was one of those delayed 5 weeks because of the cleaning room incident. I called, got an update, and that was that. No crying necessary, no online questioning and criticism needed....just patience. If patience is something you're struggling with then do some leg work and find a used one, or support a competitor. As for myself, I plan to use USO's for my high end optic needs.

WOW, I'm glad I found this post. I had placed my order Late Dec 08', I called once and found out that my Recticle was delayed but I didn't realize that they were really that backed up. I guess the customer appreciation discount got them really behind.
