That's a fair point.
I've seen a number of LE people shoot at longer ranges. Some are very good and some are marginal. I am not convinced long range precision is all that important for modern law enforcement so I did not read much into Phillip's bragging.

There are a few agencies (Border Patrol, Secret Service, etc) that train for longer engagements. But they are going to be prone or off a tripod most of the time.
The rest of LE will be <=300 yds.
Phillip isn’t the only one. It’s a common thing. Especially among pistol shooters. They like to brag they beat all the LE guys at uspsa matches and such. Different animal when you’re in a real firefight.
The one time I placed 3rd I did post it here, and then I caught heat because I used the other peoples names so I went back and deleted it. .....I can't win with you guys. If I post the results I get flamed, If I don't I get flamed??? ..So I don't even care anymore. I know what can do. The guys I shoot with know what I can do. If you boneheads choose to not like over my scope of choice that's on you. I choose to not own any part of it, I have more important things to do.
Yep, the single guy who was shooting one at the nrl and prs finales knows what it can do.

I might take you up on that. Unlike Phillip, apparently, I am a pretty iffy shot, but it sounds like it would be a blast.
I will be finally moving out of California this summer, so unless there is a conflict with that process, I'll be there.

Why do you keep saying "Unlike Phiilip" ? One time in my life did I out shoot everyone. that was back in 1980 something at Battle skills school in the Army, I got Top shooter for the Class, The class Frank was referring to my partner and I got top team , and I missed top shooter by one shot, other than a 3rd place finish at a local 600yd Precision rifle match I havn't come close to winning anything. Although I regularly go to the local 100yd range and shoot pennies to give to the kids that are there with their parents.
But "unlike Phillip". as if I'm the best shot ever. I have never said that, or have i insinuated that. If shooting off a bench, or shooting from the prone I can pretty well hold my own. But PRS style shooting is not really my thing, I do it because I enjoy it, but again, its not my strong suit. You have to keep in mind I'm a 60% service connected disabled Vet. So all the running and Gunning is not going to play to my strongest capabilities. A much more slower paced shooting from the prone or bench is more my speed.
You are welcome to purchase a slot like everyone else, I am just not interested in giving you a free one.
You are reading too much into what I said. In other words, I meant exactly what I said. I know you are a disabled vet and thank you for your service. I think you have mentioned that before.
Since these days it is much easier for me to practice with an airgun indoors than out at the range, I shoot offhand and standing a lot more than I do anything else (I set-up an airgun shooting range at the warehouse at work, which seems to have improved productivity a fair bit among my co-workers).
I shoot rifles 2-3 times a month right now: once a week when I am not on travel and most of that is at the range with 600 yards max distance. Once a month or two, I make it out to a 1000 yard range. That is one of the reasons I am seriously contemplating doing more shooting with an accurate subsonic rifle. That will make better use of the range facilities near me. That or an accurate 22LR.
Unlike most people who grew up in this country I first fired a gun when I was an adult, so I had a lot of catching up to do.

Frank, right now I am the day time welding instructor and the night time welding instructor. I leave the house around 7:00am every morning and get home around 9:00pm. I have a few friends in the Washington area I would like to see but I don't have time to do nothing. In about 2 years or so I'm going to retire, I'll have a little more time on my hands. I don't know how much those things cost, I could possibly scrape up enough to compete. But as stated earlier, PRS isn't my strong suit, I enjoy it, but you have to move to fast and moving fast really isn't "me" if you know what I'm saying. But I might give it a go, you never know.

You brag for 3 pages about coming in third at a “match” but don’t post what match because someone asked you to redact names of other competitors? Then you get asked to buy a slot and shoot with some guys and then magically you work too much?
I like the scope. I legitimately would run one of the G2’s only because they are made at LOW. But they cost more than comparables.

Dude, I don't "magically" work to much. I just work to much. The matches I shoot are local. They are held on Saturdays. They're about 20 minutes from my house. They start @ 0800 and are over around 1400. WE have one every three or four months. Generally speaking I don't do to well in them. But that particular day most of the stages were shooting off off benches or from the prone (my stronger points) there were a couple of the run and gun stages with unstable platforms to shoot from (my not so strong points) that is why I scored so high that one particular weekend. That is all.
I feel like we should crowdfund a Valdada - preferably an IOR - to send to Lowlight to beat the hell out out of for a year. It would be interesting to see how a one would last under real use.
Well, it just gets better & better doesn't it. Based on a couple reviews, I had the RECON gen 2 on my short list as a possible. Oh well, looks like the list may have to be trimmed.
Before I proceed to shorten the short list, does the recon gen 2 have better optics than the other LOW scopes mentioned? I read an awful lot of negativity about them but, aside from the yet to be determined tracking & reliability, has the damn thing got better optics than its stable mates. Has a basic optical comparison been done?

Hard NO! I have an older IOR that I bought back when there weren't a lot of options. It still tracked last time I checked but I couldn't give the thing away. They have zero resale value and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. There are lots of options these days with good reputations. IOR can suck a dick.
Yea, that’s it. Has nothing to do with wanting people to save themselves time and money.

Since you guys are not backward in coming fwd, what about a Henny 3-12 or 4-16?
I ask about the Hennies cause I will be shooting a lot at night under spotlight. I believe the Hennies have great eye boxes which, are a must when shooting out of a vehicle &, I also really want the parallax to be as deep & forgiving as I can get. D.O.F is very important at night as low light shooting exacerbates focus issues & I can't stand adjusting the bludger all the time. My poor old Leupold VX II 4-12x44 had great parallax but a tight eyebox, even at 4X, at least when shooting out of a vehicle.

I recently purchased an Athlon Talos BTR mainly to evaluate a FFP scope with an illuminated ret. I've been pleasantly surprised with the IQ, at least in comparison to my Luppy 4-12x44 which, has been as faithfull a scope as a man could hope for over 34 yrs.
The Athlon is a tad better in low light &, the illuminated ret is a dream but, the parallax is absolute shit compared to my beloved Luppy & the eyebox is tighter if anything in comparison. The Athlon is useable but, my Luppy gives basically nothing up in terms of real life useability, except for the the lit ret which, is very good in the Athlon & basically, just makes life easier.
Over the last 30+ yrs, I've shot many, many hundreds, if not thousands of the giant hopping rats &, my beloved luppy has held up like a champion.

That's what many folks here don't understand.
There is a cat in jolly ole England by the name of Richard Utting.
He is quite the fan of both Sightron and IOR.
If you would take the time to listen to his explanation, the IOR is cheaper than the Vortex razor Gen II and factory support is available, if required, on his side of the pond, unlike the Vortex. He has not reported issues with the recon.
I get that IOR has a bad reputation, but folks here love to jump on any thread without considering context.
