I'm looking for a good voice activated recorder that has a mic that wont break the bank. To make a long story short I've got a teenager that I think is up to some shady stuff but not sure. It doesn't need to be super small but it needs to have a small mic. It needs to be voice activated so I can place it for the weekend and I don't have to listen to nothing for hours on end.

Re: Voice Activated Recorder

That is going to be a tall order. Getting it to activate to speech, stay on to catch an entire conversation without interruption then shut off without turning on due to room noise, TV, radio etc. is a tall order.

Re: Voice Activated Recorder

Most any digital voice recorder will offer voice operated recording (VOX). Even the cheap ones and that's without and external microphone. About 10yrs ago when I was dictating notes I used an Olympus that was about 1/3 the size of a dollar bill. I used the VOX feature and it worked very well. I would think that technology would be even better now and cheaper too.
