Hello

I was hoping someone had some real field data for the vortex ranger 1800. I can get one for about $300. However does anyone know what you can realistically range deer/elk outnto side of a hill? Does it work when there is a little fog?
Would I be better if just buying a used sig 2200 or leica1600? I currently have a Leupold 600 and we’ll its ok out to 450. I hunt and take shots out to 800 maybe 1000 so need a range finder that can go that distance.
Thanks

This fall elk hunting my buddy had a set, and I had the Sig 2200. The vortex was noticibly better ranging animals, trees and hill sides. I know everyone raves about the Sig rangefinders, but I've never been impressed with them. I have owned several Sig Kilo rangefinders and every one always has issue ranging in cold snowy conditions. During the summer in warm weather they work great, but are terrible for hunting.... this includes the 2000, 2200, and 2400abs.
