I'm getting close to moving up to a little better scope and the razor is one of my top choices. I've been shooting a pst for the last two years and am very pleased with it but have the itch for a nicer scope. I'm wanting to hear from some that have been shooting this scope to see what you think of it. I hear the glass is excellent but how would you compare it with other brands such as NF, Luepold, bushnells. Do you think it will be as durable over time as the others? Thanks.

Don't take anyone's word on a nearly $2,000 purchase - Put your hands on the scopes that are your list of potentials and make the final call.
I don't own one, but I have shot several range rifles with one mounted and I find it to be an excellent scope...basically everything that you like about the PST but with better glass and more travel - I would like to see the price a little lower though...possibly in the $1500-$1700 range...that's just my personal opinion.
I'm leaning towards the Leupold Mk8 or a S&B...so, I've kinda already eliminated the Razor from my list....that is unless Vortex would be so kind to lend me a Razor (which it could happen
). Bushnell is also a strong option...but NF on the other hand has yet to really offer something really nice in the FFP, Mil/Mil category with a higher zoom than their F1. The BEAST is there...but, well, it's a beast.

setting side by side with a NXS, its was clearer and brighter.. but the fact, the NXS line has none of the features of the razor kinda makes it moot.

with the abuse i have done to mine, its as good or better, the fact that if i send it in for work, i had it back in 4 days, compared to 3 months for a NXS, kinds is a big deal as well

The glass on the Vortex is great, but it depends on who you ask for the answer as to how it stacks up to everything else. It would be ideal to get your hands on one to look through, but I don't think it will disappoint. Give Rangerwalker71 a buzz he will hook you up with a good deal & has them all in stock to my knowledge. Chris R.
I have both the NXS and a Razor. My favorite is definitely the Razor. It just has more features and seems faster/simpler/more natural to use. The one and only downside I see is weight. On lighter builds, the Razor may not be the best choice.
i am still deeply in love with my razor. there is just not another scope at this price point that has the features and reticle not to mention the support that vortex offers. i only wish i could afford another.
The Razor is a good scope. I shot one with the E2B reticle and really enjoyed it. The only con that I would bring up is the fact that the "zero stop" is more a break that an actual mechanical stop. But if you are looking for a FFP scope with a hours style reticle, it's a winner.

There really is not any "cons" to the Razor. It either floats your boat or it doesn't. It's a highly spec'd scope with close tolerances and very high grade materials/specs, with illuminated FFP design and features and performance that hard core shooters are looking for. Plus, Vortex is a great company with a proven track record of service and support. For under $2K, the Razor is a class leader in the tactical scope world. A very safe choice.
I have an LWRC REPR w/ a NF F-1 -MLR2 and just shot my FN A5 today sporting a Vortex Razor HD w/ ERB-2B reticle.. I love them both. The Vortex glass is amazing. I can't put one over the other because it's so close. Hopefully in the coming weeks the REPR will get an AAC 762 SDN and the FN will have the Cyclone...ohh those stamps are gonna be purddy..

Cons - maybe weight? It's up there with some of the heavies. 35.2 ounces. Not an issue for some.

Well I went ahead with the Razor and thanks to cramey74 went with RangerWalker71 for a really good deal. I read everything I could find about the scope and all was good. Couldn't find anything bad, other than weight. My PST had some debris on the lenses so I sent it back to Vortex and had it back in my hands in a week and a day. Can't beat service like that. Now all I have to do is figure out how I'm going to get this purchase past my wife's eagle eye. Oh well. Better to ask forgiveness than permission?
Congratulations. You're going to love it. Good luck with the wife, that's always my biggest hurdle too.

Get to the stop and apply more pressure. It slips. It was an accidental discovery. I left the rifle on a table at a class for guys to play with so that they could have a chance to touch an feel and play with it. I come back and notice that the scope wasn't on zero. I thought to myself no big deal just run the turret back to the stop. Well I went to move the turret and whoever was playing with it had gone past the stop. I'm thinking that the interior set screws are just pinching on the inner portion of the turret. Just an observation. Not saying that the scope is a piece of junk. I like the Razor. I recommend them. Just pointing out a design flaw. The same can be done with any product. Nothing is perfect.

No it doesn't. It would simply have no way to unles you are a retard and powering through the set screws. Wtf would you go to the stop( which anyone who owns a razor and has run it knows its solid as they come) and try to turn it through the stop?
I have two and absolutely love them. The only downside in my opinion is that the reticle is a tiny bit to thick. I wish they had gone with .05 stadia instead of .06. Other the that, awesome scopes.
