As I recall, the range started at 1001 and went just beyond 1500. One of my Gen 1's is VGW-DEFTI, pictured on the cover of RECOIL Magazine (only bolt action to be on the cover). The good ole days....
And just a bit of history, the Gen 1 actions and a small number of Gen 2's were the only actions made that were covered by the patents. A hard left exit was taken shortly into Gen 2 production that invalidated the patents, but the Gen 2's and continuing into Three-60 production have been marked as patent pending, which is actually not legal.

Yep, $500 fine per violation. I'm not sure how many receivers have been made since early Gen 2, but in total to date, that's a big number.

Looks like the timing is right for L3i to launch their new action, don't know how long before Kenny at DPG brings his to market too. Who knows, in a year from now people might be saying who's Vudoo...never heard of em.
I think it’s fair to say they set the bar in Rimfire for anyone else to follow. Not the first, but what they were expected to be as top tier.
RimX has gone a step further, (yes, I ragged them for lack of transparency and how the bolt issues were addressed) hoping they’re fixed, but until something new comes out, AND is proven, those 2 still rule the roost.
You're definitely making some valid points and there's certainly indications that "advancement" has stalled due to the oldest game in the industry, but I'm certain "better" will be a product of the unfortunate situation unfolding in front of everyone.
In the periphery, there are a few scrambling to adjust in an effort to keep operations going (termed as TOP SECRET in a prior post) that have been designed around the creation and existence of the V-22 line, but, those operations have nothing to do with advancement. Instead, they maintain status quo, which, in the long run, isn't good for the community.

You're an OG, how much further do you think there is to go? I personally feel the rifles and barrel selection have come a long way, and the ammo is where we’d all like to see advanced technology help.
Consistency would go a long way to see serious gains.

That checks out. My SN is in the 1090s. I had thought it was a gen 2 but I think it was just gen 1.2
Fwiw, I have #20xx, ordered/received early 2019... definitely 1st-gen, or at least the bolt has the big cocking button that got tiny with gen-2 (and maybe 1.1 but that's fuzzy).
With what serial did the production run start? 1001? Back in my skeet days, we "early adopter" Kolar owners would talk about whose shotgun was "oldest." So far, mine has taken that "honor" with being the 7th production copy out the door. As it was with you, Mike, the gun's designer took great interest in feedback on those early guns. We had a number of great conversations.
Yep, the range is a little fuzzy for me too as I'm depending on memory at the moment and not actual documentation. The Gen 1.2 was in the mix within the S/N range and part of some of the early measures to erase some of the troublesome Remington DNA to improve the fire control system, but, there were some back-and-forth things going on with what actually ended up in some guns.

So I bought my first one in February of 2020 and it was a Gen 1.2 (S/N 28xx) with the small protrusion. Later that year I got a Gen 2 (the one I recently re-acquired) which had the different bolt design (S/N 35xx). The Gen 2 also has the patent number below the SN whereas the Gen 1.2 does not.

A custom Rimfire action that runs like a ‘90’s Honda accord and doesn’t take 6+ months to get. $1500 maybe? Even $2K if it works and ships reasonably quickly. This is apparently too much to ask, which is why the CZ’s kick ass.
My serial number is VGW 16xx. I shot a buddy's Vudoo on 8/3/2018. I ordered mine on 8/13/2018. First Gen with a full cone barrel.
Someone from Virginia, I think, came to a local private range somewhere around then and did a demonstration with his Vudoo and let us all shoot it. Here is a picture from a match at that local range on 12/9/2018.

The blame goes to the prior owners of Vudoo for selling out its customers by selling the company to an entity that had no business buying it in the first place. They should have known better and made sure the name and product would continue on in good hands. I don’t even own a Vudoo but it pi$$es me off. American dream to work hard and accomplish something only to sell it. Sounds like Jeep selling to Stellantis. But at least Jeep is still around to be sold.
Sorry, but that isn’t how it works. You build a business, pour your life into it and then a day comes along and you get the big payout. Most people who start a business go years without a pay check. Good for them selling and if the new owners tanked it so be it.
Works that way quite often. Product carries on. Sometimes better than others. And Vudoo was getting paid. Orders backed up for ages.
As far as continuity of a semi-niche product, ideally for shops like this when the owners want out an employee will buy it and payout a percent of earnings over time to the original owners. Wish this would have happened with Vudoo. But hard to blame people for taking the check and retiring.
I shoot F Class at 50 yards so 5 rounds on 8 bulls. I knew I had something cooking after 40 so I kept going. I composite those groups by scanning and digitizing using OnTarget. The 60th round blew out the 1/2 inch group to .512 inches. That Ace 22 inch Kukri w/tuner had over 100K rounds thru it at the time. That was SK ammo, outdoors, in the snow, below freezing temps.
I would say that barrel is shooting better than ever but is getting a little persnickety. It takes a few more rounds to come in at the start and it leaves a little sooner too, say 100 rounds.

You can't blame the owners for paying off the creditors, which is probably more of what was going on that "cashing in". If the fundamental business was good enough to be worth cashing in, they wouldn't have been pivoting to new markets almost immediately.
