I have been teaching myself about firearms for about 6 months now and I have decided to take up a project and work on the theory of it and learn as I go along, hopefully picking up things that I have not yet figured out. My project is to redesign the WA2000 to (theoretically) fix the reliability and expense problems.

But to redesign a gun I need to know about it. So what can everyone here tell me about it? Schematics, Reviews, common problems, etc. All info is valuable.

Well, you are talking about a very rare rifle. Something like 200 where only made, and who even knows how many made it state side. So you will be hard pressed to find someone who has actually been in the same room as one.

Maybe an easier project like designing caseless ammunition would be a better project.

I need a <span style="font-style: italic">firearm</span> projects, not an ammo project. And as for numbers I know there were 176 made and there are 15 in the states. I have the original patent, but it skips the bolt, carrier group, and recoil system completely. I just need to know if there is some random expert here with knowledge to share.

And I love difficult projects, but thanks for the concern.

This topic comes up from time to time which is why most members will advise you to do a Google Search.

The link below basically hits the nail on the head as far as the impracticality of creating, and redesigning a new version of the WA2000.

Nothing against you however. You have some guts and imagination in you, but the overall cost for this project wouldn't be in your favor at all.

I know the cost is very high, which is why I want to redesign it but only on paper. It is less for the rifle and more for the knowledge I'll get along the way.

And I'm not trying to troll.

GL on the WA 2000 project. Still my favorite exotic rifle. Will be my #1 purchase if I ever win the lotto.

What would we ever do without BoltRipper. He certainly knows how to break the new guys in

Ok look, you registered today. Most of the people here are interested in the practical applications of a rifle. With that information, of the nearly 64000 of us it seems like 2 have ever even seen what you are talking about, and probably nearly all of us have no interest in that. How about giving us some insight as to who you are and what you want to accomplish. With that maybe someone could point you in the right direction.

It is largely intellectual, but I do want to make it one day. Not for years though.

And I may be late to the bullpup sniper party, but I think my two cents could make a difference one day.

Yeah, my point with this project was just to learn as much as I can about precision rifles as I go, and as I learn more I can simplify it more. I want to eliminate the reliability and complexity of it. Simple is good. But my primary goal is the knowledge.
