Re: WARNING ~ TR ~ My experience

I re-worked the bedding job on a TR 300WM once before. It looked like the OP's stock prior to Spartan Rifles working his magic. Paint on the bedding and all.

There were other issues but, mostly cosmetic.

Mark did a stellar job with the repair/re-work and I thought he was very professional in the way he worded his statements. With the internet world of today one has to be very cautious with his actions/words/practices. Sometimes a little damage control goes a long way.

It's a shame that a little TLC to the OP could have prevented this outcome.

I usually don't get pulled into these types of topics, but I couldn't help myself.

Not to mention the fact that in the OPs instance it looked like the smith at TacticalRifles decided to have a 5th of Scotch while using a Dremel to bed the action!

Frank,

Next time you think about banning Shankster, please refer to his posts here and give him another shot. I'm still laughing at what transpired in this thread. My wife was reading this and after Shanksters post all she said was "for fuck sakes, that guy has no credibility now". She never curses!!lol

Re: WARNING ~ TR ~ My experience

Not just 900.00 it was $ 1450.00 with parts, I was only asking to be payed for the machine work that should have been done in the first place.

Re: WARNING ~ TR ~ My experience

Just a few more videos for the connoiseurs of Tactical Rifles:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjQfc0b6nSA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIKOgBaxT88

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULltCRL9fO8

http://www.youtube.com/user/tacticalrifles1

I wanted to look and see if I could find a true cross section of positive comments on youtube. I can find alot for other manufacturers. I went through 15 pages and could only find these handfuls. Who knows?

Additionally, NDN has not responded to my PM for him to provide his credentials and proof.

Re: WARNING ~ TR ~ My experience

I have been off the hide for a few days and just found this thread. I don't have a dog in this fight either.

I will now give my experience with Tactical Rifles. I had them build me a 6.5x47L in a stiller tac30 with a bartlein(I was told) dropped into a 1.5 aics chassis.

This was before I was on the hide and honestly didn't know any better. David seemed to know his stuff and was a very convincing salesman.

Almost 2 years after receiving the deposit and 2400 for a nightforce f1 I was calling them to find out what the hold up was on a simple barreled action ceracoted with a 5/8x24 muzzle threaded with thread protector.

I didn't talk to David directly for the last several months of this build.

I did hear about mil/leo contracts that came up and I would have to wait until those were done.

I finally convinced the sales lady/secretary to forget the NF and apply the money to finishing the build to get the rifle in my hands.

After 2-3 months of this they contacted me to say my rifle was being shipped.

It should also be added that I was quoted a 6-8 month build.

I have shot the rifle and it seems to shoot well.

Obviously they will not be getting any repeat business from me.

Also Black ops/Underground Skunk works built my 260 and they are in a different Universe than Tactical Rifles.

Re: WARNING ~ TR ~ My experience

Well at the beginning of this I thought I would see the video and move on to the next thread.

Turned out to be better than I expected and I made it the whole way.

Couple things I noticed and appreciated:
1) The way the owner of this site handled it and once the truth about the surrogate poster was revealed he focused on a resolution.

2) Don't try to BS your way through SH.com cause these guys will tear you to ribbons.

3) Respect yourself and others with the same respect we all give to firearms safety and things will be much easier going.

Thanks guys,

Re: WARNING ~ tacticalrifles.net ~ My experience

I believe I remember someone from this company saying what sets them apart is the fit and finish and attention to detail that goes into every rifle they make. Yeah, they sure set themselves apart with work like that.

I linked a video a page or two back to an episode of Ultimate Weapons: Sniper Rifles on the TR M40 and the owner specifically touted the things you mentioned along with some others that don't seem consistent with what we've seen.

Re: WARNING ~ tacticalrifles.net ~ My experience

So , beware of tacticlerifles ,somebody got screwed buying one , one good smith fixed it , Lots of people are offended . And one guy likes his 3 , hates Remington and served in some place near ' Seria ' ( is that near ' Eye-rack ' ? ) and thinks cub scouts need gun safety lessons from whoever built the rifle that some think may be dangerous to shoot ? Or did I miss something important to the discussion ?
And I'm just looking for good advice on which rifle to put my money on so I can put all my focus on the real problem with my shooting and hopefully fix the flaws in that. That would be me and that is surely the the equipment I have the best chance of improving. No one needs to make it even harder with inferior equipment and I hope others' experiences like this keep me from that frustrating mistake. I'll go back to searching the ' this one's the best ' posts and I appreciate the opportunity to get to see so many expert opinions. Best of luck resolving this.

Re: WARNING ~ tacticalrifles.net ~ My experience

in the navy and own 3 of these rifles. ok i can believe that because lord knows i spent more money on weapons than anything else while i was in. what i don't believe is your attitude. you seem to be pretty but hurt that someone has a complaint about the rifles. almost as if you have something to lose.

how long ago were your rifles made?

what models?

did you ever think that since they had an LEO/Mil contract come up that maybe they had to hire some temp workers or god forbid outsource their work (your in the military so I'm sure you know how many things get outsourced when small companies get big contracts).

its very common for small companies to slack on their work a bit (not always on purpose. most of the time its due to temp employees). they focus on the contract and tend to forget about the quality control of their civ market.

the fact you are active duty and have the attitude you have is a disgrace. your not even worth talking to in my opinion and i haven't even met you and thankfully you were never one of my docs during one of my 4 combat deployments because i would hate to have my life in your hands with the attitude you have. hopefully your assigned to blue side and if god forbid you are green side then please be in a POG unit.

Re: WARNING ~ TR ~ My experience

DANG! Wish I'd had this thread as a reference about seven years ago when I ordered my TacticalRifles build. Hate having given money to a company that has revealed itself to be nefarious in how it represents itself and treats its customers.

I was new (still am) to precision shooting, what did I know.

I remember picking it up from the local FFL dealer, he commented that the stock had some chipping around the receiver that had bedding filled in...not that worrisome in itself but unusual for a high dollar custom build. Flag for concern.

Indicative of attention to detail. Small things overlooked usually leads to discovery of large things overlooked.

I don't get a chance to shoot it that often, but it's been accurate (but mostly off of benches and I don't run my rifles that hard). I'm not confident it would last if I ever enrolled in a tactical shooting class, much less if I ever took it to the field hunting for that matter.

I'm seriously concerned what a closer inspection will reveal.

I'd consider selling this rifle, but I really don't want to sell a lemon to someone.

GRRRRRRR. Hate feeling like I've been taken.

My dad has my pipe vise and threader at the moment, or I would have included a photo.

Before anyone corrects my spelling, that's how ndnboy71 spelled "tactical".

I'm working on it and it will be up soon. Actually I'm not doing anything with it as I don't know anything about tech issues, but I have a couple friends/customers working on it. Honestly don't expect to blown away by an impressive website. I'm a small, limited production shop and I rarely take photos of the work I do so there probably won't be a whole lot there.

For now just go to my facebook page. You can see a lot of stuff there and you can pm me with any questions about work you're interested in.

You missed the whole point, fucking up is fine, accepting responsibility for it, is the issue and the point. Telling the guy to go pound sand is the problem and that if it don't shoot is because you can't mentality. Any company can put out a lemon how you handle the customer and the sale after the fact is what separates good from bad... clearly once the rifle left the shop, regardless of the condition, the owner was on his own as the company washed their hands of the product and its problems.

Reading comprehension ...
