Well after after a few months of reading and more reading and searching, I have decided to pack up my Rem 700 barreled action and send it in to GAP for a total overhaul.
I cant thank the guys on here enough that have posted knowledgeable replies and do's and do not's to my question's and to the questions that I did searches on. I would like to thank Matt over at Manner's Stock for all the help he has provided me in taking time to help me pick my options. Last but not least, Ken Lin over at GAP. through countless emails and a phone conversation, Ken has paiently taken the time to bear with my what if we, what if this, what if that, and so on questions. For sure a class A operation.

Here is a list of what I am having done from GAP

* Bartlein Stainless Steel 5R Rifling #7 G.A.P. Contour 1:11.25 Twist / 23" (22" from front of lug

* Chamber & Crown the barrel (.308 win)

* True the Bolt, Lug & Blueprint the action

* Bedding of the action

* Install the Badger EFR I supplied

* Cerakote the barrel, action, bolt, scope base, bottom metal, Badger EFR in Flat Dark Earth

* Going with the side bolt release as well <span style="color: #FF0000">(updated 8/4/11)</span>

Any other thoughts for accuracy?

This will all be teamed up with my Manners T4A with Badger BDM once Manners completes the stock and brings it over to GAP.

So, there it sits... Awaiting the man in Brown to come take her away.

Well that should be one helluva rifle when it gets back.

I'm looking to do the same thing in the not too distant future. There should be a list put together of the things that need to be done, some things that are nice but not necessary and don't waste your time doing to your build to make it easier for people to do a custom rifle.

They currently have my Rem 700 .22-250 doing a re-barrel. While they have it I am having the side bolt release added, new bolt shroud (my old one had the j key, trued action, duracoat all metal, and drop it in a Manners T4A with mini chassis. Hoping to have it back by Christmas. I managed to get about 4K out of the factory barrel which surprised a couple of the smiths at Gap when I was there dropping it off. Apparently the original barrel has quite a bit of erosion.

I am looking forward in getting mine back. I have been wanting to do a precision gun for some time now and with the help of the 'Hide, and the info that I gathered, I am building that gun, well having that gun built. I was going to go with the mini chassis, but I figure keep it all Badger. I think I am going to add the side bolt release. I like that feature the more and more I look at it. I was told that the lead time was 8 to 6 months. Then when I spoke to Ken on the phone the other day, he said it was actually a little less. I would like to get some what of an idea so that I can budget and stash the cash without mama knowing... hehehe

You don't have any idea what your cost will be? I'd guess you are looking at about $1800 all up.

Well... I just got my tracking number from GA Precision and my baby is on the way!!!!

Hell, I can't believe you were able to wait over 4 months. Those guys at GAP produce some of the most ridiculously amazing rifles I have ever seen. Yours is bad ass looking. When I get my second rifle a year or two down the road it's going to be from them no questions about it. BTW, do you have a before picture?

Very nice! I know you'll love it. You better get your second GAP rifle in the works soon. It's cool to have one of them to show off, but bring out 2 and all the ex-Marine Snipers and Navy Seals at the range go nuts.

only thing stock is the rem 700 action, which they did all up! HAHAHAHA so its basically brand new... oh, never had a shot fired through that action. I bought the rifle brand new and parted it out!

I will def being doing another GAP... Gonna do a hunting rig next in 7mm wsm... then a 6.5x47L based on the M40A5...

I ordered a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 with zero stop and high speed .250 moa adjustment and NP-R1

Eventually I want to get a USO SN-3...
I had an AR Build going on at the same time so funds were limited, not to mention I just remodeled my house with decks, windows, and siding, ect... (just to keep mama happy) hahaha

I just want to give a big thanks to the following: Tom, Christie, and Matt over at Manners for building a BEAUTIFUL STOCK! I couldn't be more happy! Thank you for the excellent service and taking time answering my questions.

Thanks to Ken, Tracie, George, and the Tech (would like to know who it was) who built the rifle for providing me with the gun that I have been wanting to build for so long! I cannot wait to order up my next one soon! Going to go with a hunting rig next I think...

Extremely nice setup man, congrats. I'm looking to do the same this summer. Just found out about the #7 GAP contour had no idea about it and have been trying to decide on a barrel contour for some time now, i'm thinking that will be it. Did you get the remington bolt fluted also? or was that requested?

You're not kidding. I am so impressed just with those pictures he txt me yesterday of my stuff. He is also a great dude. I know when I have GAP do up a hunting rifle for me in 7mm WSM, I want Todd to paint up the stock (for sure another Manners) and optics in multicam.

not yet... Just got my scope back from paint on Friday. I'm waiting for some Bore Tech Eliminator solvent, and non brass jags to show up since NO PLACE around me has that sort of thing
