Just read a news article about some ass wipe complaining that Congress lowered the threshold to get some free money. Only it ain’t free money...it’s ours...that the asswipes in Congress are passing out with reckless abandon.
Person asserts that even though they have not missed a single day of work during the pandemic, its not fair that they are lowering the limit on income for eligibility for the free shit. Said they have to send money to other family in Texas. Big hardship on someone earning 100K / year

I have no issue with unemployment insurance, its a system meant to help people buy canned tuna and pasta so they can eat while unemployed. I do have a problem with handing out checks to those that haven't lost their job or missed a day of work (or maybe haven't worked in years)

The govt feels the need to do something, extend unemployment in a reasonable way (don't make it better than working)

but if you really want something to be seriously fucked these days, involve the federal government

I would argue for some people like myself who will have to write a check to the government on April 15th , this is a " tax break " and not free money. I have used the last 2 $600 to help pay my taxes , thereby reducing my tax burden, so I consider it a tax break . And yes I have a problem with them targeting a lower income of people who don't pay to begin with and will simply spend there $600 check on beer, cigarettes, and lotto tickets.

The fucked up part of it is this bill passes , the IRS sends me a check for $1400 , which I turn around and send right back to them , but because they sent it to me its considered earned income and I have to pay taxes on it next year.

I'm right there with you. Last year that stimulus payment waved at me as it passed through my checking account and went straight back to the IRS to pay our taxes.
I work in the oil industry down here in Louisiana, and this covid bullshit has kicked us right in the balls. It's so slow that I'm now making about a third of what I used to, and now whoever is controlling Biden has come in and cut our poor battered bruised nut sack right off.

While everyone was out debating the merits of MMT ("Modern Monetary Theory" or "Magic Money Theory", depending upon one's preferences), it turns out that elected officials had already hopped in the cab and are pushing the throttle through the firewall.

Face it - there are maybe 1 or 2 principled financial conservatives left in all of the elected federal government. The rest of 'em (Trump included) are simply looking to buy voter by running the Treasury's printing press at full speed, and any disagreements are merely about the rate at which we are going to monetize the debt.

The Democrats won the Senate races in Georgia with a combination of fraud and openly telling voters that vote democrat get $2000, even going so far as to make advertisements with fake checks to drive their point home.

But it really doesn't matter, neither side of the uniparty has any plan to not massively increase debt.
One side pretends to do it more slowly while happily giving trillions to keep the crooks on wall street happy.

In the end it's all for the same goal. Total control and total ownership by the Elites over everything and everyone.

As far as the national debt goes, I don't even worry about it any more. It will never be paid off, it's simply not possible, the deficit will never end, it's simply not possible, it will go on faster or slightly slower till everything hits the wall and the Global Elites ride in to save the day by saying don't worry about all that debt, we'll just take everything tangible in payment and then you can work for us as our serfs to earn enough to eat.
