Maggie’s What are you drinking right now!?

Oelofberg brandy and full-sugar Coca Cola.

For those of you that have visited South Africa on a hunting trip, you may have a faint recollection of the good times getting hammered on this specific drink. You would definitely not forget the hangover the next day.

Russell's Reserve 10 year old Small Batch. Only 90 proof, but that helps keep me out of trouble. Smooth like a 10yr should be. Vanilla, slightly sweet, light citrus, leather and a little oak.
Not bad. Not bad, at all.

I'm normally a scotch and rum drinker but decided to start a journey down the tequila road.

Was on a cycle ride in central Wisconsin and stopped at liquor store in Portage Wi. The owner offered a sample of this and it's delicious. Aged 18 months in Blantons barrels.
Corazon also has offerings aged in EH Taylor and Eagle Rare barrels. Will have to look for those.

Need some recommendations: I have a guy’s trip in a few months. I want to bring a nice rye. Thinking $600-1000 price range.

Last year I did a michter’s toasted that was amazing.

Any thoughts are appreciated

Honestly Michters Barrel Strength Rye is one of my top rye favorites. Delicious. I stock lots of backups on the shelf.. bought a case of it last year. Retail you can find them for $70... secondary they are $175 +/-

And Eagle Rare bourbon is a hell of a lot easier to find than Blanton’s, and about half the folks I give it to on a blind taste test actually like it better.

Michters Barrel Strength Rye or Barrel Strength Toasted Rye are great recommendations…

If you want something a little more “Fancy” I’d go with Thomas H Handy BTAC. Love the shit outta that stuff. The think they can be found for $500ish on the secondary…

Which WFE Rye? the WFE 11yr Rye "Unobtanium" I got last month was more than $200 and I see it going for around $1000 on secondary
The one Louisiana got wasn’t the same. The purple top Bourbon was $449 and I missed my chance and getting one to pass along. The rye wasn’t Unobtanium. It was a Wines Unlimited pick. Retailed $190 here

Picked up Weller C.Y.P.B. today. Nearly impossible score for my area. Will crack it open this weekend with a couple of friends. This evening I think the Laphroig 10 year in the background is whispering to me.

I like it for $15/pour but not blown away by any means. Definitely a good score to find locally. Not worth the high secondary IMO, which could mean nothing to your taste obviously. I really like the full proof store picks I’ve tried and the SiB was pretty good too at $15/pour.
