Whichever one you can get the best deal on, i say that as one that owns an AX chassis. Of the ones you've listed would be the only i woukd consider just due to my own preference. These decisions are really a preference thing.

The AIAX is an amazing chassis and you won't be disappointed. Cadex is also some badass kit. I dig both but find the AI ergos suit me better. I own both and LOVE both so you can't go wrong.

I have used and purchased many chassis. My favorite is the KRG X-RAY. It is quality, inexpensive, modular with unlimited options/acessories , and is super light (only 3 pounds). I believe it is lightest chassis out there. It will hold it's own with any other chassis out there.

Your three choices above are incredibly bomb proof but their weigh makes then much less nimble. Please let us know what you ultimately choose and your impressions.

Hey,

What is your end goal with the system? Are you trying to reach out and touch targets as far as you can? Are you going to hunt with it? Are you building a SA or LA caliber?

If it's strictly a popularity contest then that is one thing, but if you give us some details on what you want the chassis to do, we'll be able to help you build a good system ;)

Josh

None of the above. Either all AI or none at all, no Remington wrapped in AI. Cadex doesn't do it for me. If I have to choose a chassis, it will be MPA.

Reach out and touch targets, and no interest in hunting. SA, Remington, 6.5cm.

I am switching out a McMillian stock for the chassis. Not looking to build a complete new one.

You need one of these! haha Need to press @MDT_Josh on when they are going to be reissuing them.

Oh, and I bought this one off of Steve Roe and Apache. Used but I defy anyone to tell....its like new and came with all of the fixin's.

Come on, Josh...give us a teaser on when you will be releasing this chassis....and the Cyke Pod. You guys are good at keeping it all close to the vest! hahaha

The AI and Cadex are well designed/engineered, i think you can take that as a given. But IMHO the erongomics of these things don't translate well over the internet. It's really worth it to get your hands on a sample/demo.

@Baron23 Way to Rub it in... 😆
hahaha....and I see I wasn't entirely clear in my post above. One of the points I was trying to make is that Steve Roe, who is Apache Machine and Custom, was terrific to deal with personally and the product far exceeded my expectations. It came to me really truly looking like new.

This was his personal chassis and anybody that anal is the kind of gunsmith I would want to do business with (ok, not anal...how about extreme attention to detail...that's a major positive in my world)

It will be interesting to see what MDT releases...whether its really the same chassis or if adaption to their processes and machining results in any changes and what the cost will be.

Hopefully they won't go down the rabbit hole with so many customizations that they can't deliver in a timely manner which I understand was part of J Allen's challenges.

Why? What are you looking to gain?

Besides weight, the chassis provides:
  • folding stock
  • more adjustability
  • more modularity
  • easier to adapt to ARCA with no modifications needed, just bolt and go
  • built in dbm (maybe he's running a bdl set up at the moment)
At least those are a few reasons that I did the same thing he's doing and decided to give the AI AX chassis a try and don't regret it.

Can get all that in a Manners with a mini chassis too. Just wondering his reasons for wanting to change.

The poll needs an option #4: bleh!
None of those have an Arca rail, which I think is a must have. Two of them appear to mount the scope to the chassis. And to make it worse, they do so on a long slender arm. The grips don't look interchangeable.
I'd suggest going to a local PRS or NRL match or practice session and ask to try people's rifles, to see what chassis fits you best. My tastes are for the MPA BA Comp, MDT ACC, and MPA Matrix. I'd give the MPAs the edge, due to the holes on the bottom of the Arca rail for mounting barricade stops, but I do prefer the front of the MDT's magwell.

I spec'ed out a Manners with as many of the same features as my AX and at the end of the day the Manners was more expensive and weighed close to the same.

Considering the guy is looking at $2000+ chassis I don't think money is an issue but it coems down to if he has tried chassis also and if he likes AR/pistol style grips on his rifles. I hate them so again why I am asking his reasoning. Also does he need a folder? Or just one more thing to loosen etc.

1) I hate how I need to adjust the cheekpiece just to take the bolt out
2) I have a butt spacer, not a customizable one
3) Easier to mod down the line if need be
4) I like how there is 20 extra MOA
5) I am a big guy, and the McMillian has served me well but the options these days weren't around 13 years ago (or I never noticed them)
6) And of course, the cool factor

Page 2, shows an action rail available. That what you're talking about?

The stock I currently have, I would love a folder.

Have you looked at the Manners Folders? You get one with a mini chassis and it’s drop in and ready to go. Order it with your length of pull and you don’t have to mess with cheek piece to remove bolt. Don’t have to do that with any manners stock with adjustable cheek piece.

Man chassis and stocks are such a personal preference thing with so many options and different features.....the only way to decide is to get behind a bunch and try.

If you cant do that just buy a used one and if you like it great, if not sell it and keep repeating till you find a winner.

There were ones i thought i would love but ended up hating ( krg wc3) and ones i thought i would hate and end up really liking ( mpa). Just gota try a bunch out and find out what you like.

For those that have suggested MPA Matrix, is it a drop and go or do you need a gunsmith to make some adjustments?
It's drop in. I moved my Vudoo action over from another chassis to a Matrix in under ten minutes. I like the MPAs over the competition, because they have an integral level, an adjustment to lock the recoil lug in snugly (it is a third screw to deal with on installation), and a series of holes on the forend (similar to a QD cup) to mount proprietary barricade stops.

World is your oyster then :) All of the chass you had initially mentioned as well as all of the others brought up in the rest of the thread will serve you well. As others have mentioned, the choices boil down to; what fits you best? What offers the most amount of features you are looking for? Which company will stand behind its products and shooters? And which one looks the freaking coolest to you?!

I am sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose as it'll have to check all those boxes for YOU, not all of us out here on the internet :D

We are working super hard on the JAE's and have had to make some slight modifications from the OG design so far for manufacturability. We'll keep you all updated as best we can, but right now we're just really in the weeds working it all out!

Well, I have a lot to think about lol

It's too bad the MPA Matrix doesn't come with a folding stock, I'd be more sold on it.
The chassis is two pieces of aluminum bolted together at the grip. If your goal is to fold it to put it in a shorter range bag, that probably doesn't help. But if you want to fit it in a smaller suitcase for flying, you could take the rear off in two minutes or so, reducing the OAL by 10" or so.

The McMillian i have prevents the bolt from coming out as the cheekrest is in the way. I have to adjust it every time I clean it back to my level.

You know not every stock or chassis is like that right? Quite a few can have the bolt come out without messing with the cheekrest. Most all need it removed for cleaning though but my Manners have a clip on the rod going into the stock that you can set it so all you do is pop it back on and it’s at the same height. No messing with it.

I was just wondering if that was true only reason or if you were trying to make it small to pack it.

The packing would be nice, but not necessary. It also lacks some other configuration that I should have gotten when I got the McMillian, but I went a bit cheaper than I should have.

If you're interested in an MPA and that's your concern, then don't worry. They placed the cheek rest just behind where the bolt needs to go, and there's a notch in the rest so you have plenty of space to get the bolt out. They also have a removable cheekrest option that pops on and off without you having to adjust the height wheel.
