Hey,
What is your end goal with the system? Are you trying to reach out and touch targets as far as you can? Are you going to hunt with it? Are you building a SA or LA caliber?
If it's strictly a popularity contest then that is one thing, but if you give us some details on what you want the chassis to do, we'll be able to help you build a good system
Josh
Reach out and touch targets, and no interest in hunting. SA, Remington, 6.5cm.
I am switching out a McMillian stock for the chassis. Not looking to build a complete new one.

hahaha....and I see I wasn't entirely clear in my post above. One of the points I was trying to make is that Steve Roe, who is Apache Machine and Custom, was terrific to deal with personally and the product far exceeded my expectations. It came to me really truly looking like new.@Baron23 Way to Rub it in...![]()
Why? What are you looking to gain?
Besides weight, the chassis provides:
At least those are a few reasons that I did the same thing he's doing and decided to give the AI AX chassis a try and don't regret it.
- folding stock
- more adjustability
- more modularity
- easier to adapt to ARCA with no modifications needed, just bolt and go
- built in dbm (maybe he's running a bdl set up at the moment)
Can get all that in a Manners with a mini chassis too. Just wondering his reasons for wanting to change.
I spec'ed out a Manners with as many of the same features as my AX and at the end of the day the Manners was more expensive and weighed close to the same.
Why? What are you looking to gain?
I have never liked the ergonomics of AI chassis. Yeah, they work, but I wouldn't be throwing a Remington action in one just because they look cool. I prefer MPA for chassis.
The poll needs an option #4: bleh!
None of those have an Arca rail, which I think is a must have. Two of them appear to mount the scope to the chassis. And to make it worse, they do so on a long slender arm. The grips don't look interchangeable.
I'd suggest going to a local PRS or NRL match or practice session and ask to try people's rifles, to see what chassis fits you best. My tastes are for the MPA BA Comp, MDT ACC, and MPA Matrix. I'd give the MPAs the edge, due to the holes on the bottom of the Arca rail for mounting barricade stops, but I do prefer the front of the MDT's magwell.
What's the deal with a remington action and AI chassis?
I don't think so. That appears to be a Picatinny rail.http://www.accuracyinternational.us...01-AX-AICS-2014-installation-instructions.pdf
Page 2, shows an action rail available. That what you're talking about?
Considering the guy is looking at $2000+ chassis I don't think money is an issue but it coems down to if he has tried chassis also and if he likes AR/pistol style grips on his rifles. I hate them so again why I am asking his reasoning. Also does he need a folder? Or just one more thing to loosen etc.
I just saw the list prices on those chassis. I'd definitely look at an MPA or MDT.
The stock I currently have, I would love a folder.
It's drop in. I moved my Vudoo action over from another chassis to a Matrix in under ten minutes. I like the MPAs over the competition, because they have an integral level, an adjustment to lock the recoil lug in snugly (it is a third screw to deal with on installation), and a series of holes on the forend (similar to a QD cup) to mount proprietary barricade stops. For those that have suggested MPA Matrix, is it a drop and go or do you need a gunsmith to make some adjustments?

You need one of these! haha Need to press @MDT_Josh on when they are going to be reissuing them.
Oh, and I bought this one off of Steve Roe and Apache. Used but I defy anyone to tell....its like new and came with all of the fixin's.
Come on, Josh...give us a teaser on when you will be releasing this chassis....and the Cyke Pod. You guys are good at keeping it all close to the vest! hahaha
The chassis is two pieces of aluminum bolted together at the grip. If your goal is to fold it to put it in a shorter range bag, that probably doesn't help. But if you want to fit it in a smaller suitcase for flying, you could take the rear off in two minutes or so, reducing the OAL by 10" or so.Well, I have a lot to think about lol
It's too bad the MPA Matrix doesn't come with a folding stock, I'd be more sold on it.
@upsdownsideways why are you wanting a folder? Just curious.
The McMillian i have prevents the bolt from coming out as the cheekrest is in the way. I have to adjust it every time I clean it back to my level.
You know not every stock or chassis is like that right? Quite a few can have the bolt come out without messing with the cheekrest. Most all need it removed for cleaning though but my Manners have a clip on the rod going into the stock that you can set it so all you do is pop it back on and it’s at the same height. No messing with it.
I was just wondering if that was true only reason or if you were trying to make it small to pack it.
If you're interested in an MPA and that's your concern, then don't worry. They placed the cheek rest just behind where the bolt needs to go, and there's a notch in the rest so you have plenty of space to get the bolt out. They also have a removable cheekrest option that pops on and off without you having to adjust the height wheel. The McMillian i have prevents the bolt from coming out as the cheekrest is in the way.
