Almost forgot. I get tired of chasing brass anyway, but in this kind of snow9DC40D5B-DC8A-42EF-8E71-CD5627F434DC.jpeg
It’s impossible to find at least some of them. So, I built me a brass catcher out of scrapwood and chicken wire:

I had a tray of 1F M118LR brass sitting on my bench for many weeks. All primed and ready to go. Finally going to get some warm temps tomorrow so I loaded up a ladder for the AR10 308/762. By high temps I mean upper 30's. :)

I am going to try to find the OCW range, to find a load that will be resilient to my lack of process control.

Brass M118LR
Bullets 175 gr SMK
Load: Ladder 39.0 gr - 41.7 gr, o.3 gr increments
Powder Hodgdon H4895
Head/Ogive set to 2.235 +-

Question. With a gas gun, M118LR Brass, 175 SMK. What is the reasonable max load using Hodgdon H4895? I assume the Max listed on Hodgdon is a conservative max.

Being the worst kind of procrastinator I woke up at 5am to load 100 rounds for a local match at 9am. Then I shot the match and got 4th with my rinky dink .223 and 77 Noslers.

Rebarreled CZ527 to 24" SS 1:8 chambered in .223 Remington (Manson SAAMI reamer).
Load is 25.2gr Varget behind Nosler CCs 77s .003" off the lands ( or where the lands used to be) and CCI 450s, 2930fps.
I load these up for about $25 per hundred.

In the process of making my new loading room. New house had a ton more room so the old bench was tossed. View attachment 7104359

Freakin jealous. I had a giant gun/fun room in my old house, 42” high 18” deep shelf built around 2 walls with all of my presses Mounted, shelves underneath for all my gear, etc etc.

Now post divorce/22k a year in child support it’s a kobalt work bench in my garage with no room compared to my old setup lmfao. 3 more years........

i finally found a load my new gas gun likes well enough so I loaded up 200 73gr ELDM’s over 23.6gr of 8208 set at mag length. Then I repainted my 1/3 and 2/3 ipsc targets to take out to the big range Friday (so far I’ve only been able to get it out to 300 yards) and I’ll see how reliably I can hit at 500, 600, 800, and 1k with an 18” WOA bbl and a load that’s probably gonna go subsonic around 850-875.

Got this delivered last evening and got it all set up. Loaded up 50 rounds of .223. It's easy to use and great to have one more zero after the dot for accuracy. I just dump a scoop of powder in the cup and the trickler takes care of the rest. It didn't have any splash of powder kernels like the Chargemaster does so I'll probably get rid of the aluminum foil catch pan. :)

The Battle of the Match Primers is being set. My pet load of 42.8gr of Reloder 16 in Prime Brass with 130 Golden Target bullets with CCI BR-2 vs Federal GM210M. I usually used 210M, but got some BR-2's for free from a buddy who wasn't using them. Win/win.

Have you heard, Winchester is now putting out a match grade primer?
I couldn't find it at the Winchester site so passed a note to their customer service. Haven't heard back yet.
Natchez was showing them in stock <https://www.natchezss.com/winchester-primers-large-rifle-match-1000-ct.html>.
I'm interested in giving them a try. In my testing Federal vs CCI, I haven't found a statistically significant difference in ES/SD. That was with two rifles/two calibers (308 and 243) The 308 was 15 years ago and the 243 was this last summer with new primers.

Nice. I'll be rebarreling mine once I get home from this 9 month Germany rotation to 7mm-08. I had shot out my 6 creed barrel right before I came over here last April.

I think I'm in the same boat. Not pleased with recent accuracy and think it's time for me too. Been looking at various options and may be considering a Prood CF.

I had about 1350rds on mine. I was shooting 108gr eld-m. I was pushing them though.

Accuracy went from just under 1/2 MOA to over MOA. Was chasing the lands the last 350rds. I went with Patriot Valley Arms for this new barrel. Got the heavy varmint contour at 26" 1/9 twist. I'm over the barrel burners. I figure I can be shooting the 162-168gr bullets out to a thousand without any true issues.

Got some Reloder 26 under some 147 ELDm's (45.7gr) and 130 RDF'S (46.2gr) for my Tikka Tac A1 to chew on once the weather cooperates

And putting on some chapstick.
If you are loading those with a Hornady die set, you might look into getting the correct insert for your seater. I note that you have the same dents in the tip of the bullet I got when I load high BC bullets with them.

I know I'm well north of 1600. I like the round and will stick with it for awhile.
