What. Disgrace!

"For Profit Prison", simple as that. It's a business and wants to maximize profits, so why not work the system to make sure your supply is maximized? Shameful, yes, but is it at all surprising?

When the call for privatizing everything in Govt. comes because business does it better, remember this. Do we really want a for profit Govt.

Precisely. There's this narrative that the free market and private business can always do better than government-run organizations, but there are other factors that often get overlooked such as the above case of unethical behavior in the name of increasing profits. I would trust a private business running the postal service to give me excellent service at a reduced cost overall, but that would likely apply to people in profitable areas of delivery more than others in more rural locations. Some things just need to be run by the government for the simple fact that how much money is made or saved shouldn't matter. It shouldn't matter that the post office in Silverton, CO isn't making a profit because it's so remote, nor should it matter that crime is down and a prison has fewer inmates on the books. Those organizations need to function outside of commercial pressure.

Fuck that piece of shit. I cannot find words harsh enough to express the contempt I hold for him and his ilk. The only bright spot I see in this is that hopefully he will serve time with those he incarcerated. I think prison will not be kind to this POS.

Damn, this is disgusting. Over 5000 cases? The sickening thing is the real hardcore little thugs will be released along with the petty theft ones. He really threw a wrench in the justice system. "Finders Fee"... Holy shit.

28 years is not enough, nor is the fine, however; the continued disgrace is the failure to round up, try and prosecute ALL that were/are involved. The CEO, COO, CFO of the for profit, are guilty of a large number of crimes, in fact, as more than one person were involved, RICO could be used. I doubt if the politically connected executives of the for profit will see even so much as one day in jail. Shame on the DA for not getting All the scum involved.

As he will be spending his time in a Federal Prison, he'll most likely do just fine, between trips to the gym, and the library (better than most schools can afford), etc. We, tax paying Americans will be footing the bill, we would all be better served if he was sentenced to a PA State prison.

I saw a case I believe it was north or south carolina juvenile detention center. Where kids who had served their time 30-90 days. were held over for a variety of reasons. With a complicit judge helping them. Some of these kids took a year or more to serve a 90 day detention. They got paid by the head, and needed to keep the head count up.

Same judge in this case was sending kids to jail who normally get probation. He just needed to get the head count up.

I have to wonder if he just pissed the wrong person off or in some way did not stick to his end of the barges on some deal. Resulting in him being felt with. Why else would he be the only one prosecuted and jailed for this crime. He did not pay him self the finders fee

This is synonymous to blaming the spoon for making one fat.

It is a fact that private business runs with a lower overhead variance than public entities.

It was the Judge that was corrupt. If there was collusion between representatives of prison itself, that'd be a conspiracy.

It was not private business that led to this, it was a moral failing on the part of individuals; and such individuals exist in both public and private entities.
