Youtube had the usual spate of "COVID INCREASES WILDLY IN ALL 50 STATES!" videos etc. Which, yeah, okay, there seems to have been an overall increase in new cases but uh...
Yeah, still only around 1% of the total US population is infected according to known testing, ~96% of ended cases are recoveries and not deaths, and deaths at least in GA are doing the usual every-few-days up-and-down thing but overall are trending down.
CNN did have Thevarus(TM) on there yesterday or Wednesday, just for a minute or two, before going back to its regularly-scheduled ill-contained-smugness over the election.
Also apparently Europe's having trouble with it and there was something about how minks in Denmark have a mutated version of the virus now... or the virus was mutating the minks... I'm pretty sure it was the first one, 12 people allegedly got infected from diseased minks, and now Denmark's gonna xenocide all the little fur-tubes to prevent further spread.
80 new cases in my county since this past Wednesday.

My company released an announcement reminding us of covid and basically telling us to continue panicking. Many people were pissed off.
There were 1,200 deaths today. 125,000 cases
55,000 hospitalized.
11, 000 I believe in ICU.
These numbers are all about to rise exponentially.
And this is all in the daily news, it’s just not front page.
Where did it go? Nowhere, but now that it's post election, state and local governments are using the election drama to hide their lockdowns, which they're now "safe" to do without voter backlash.
BIden gave a speech tonight. He mentioned it alot. He's only the president elect, so I'm not sure what you're expecting him to do. And if you thought Trump ignored covid until now, wait to see how he ignores it for the next two months.
My state and county are reporting record numbers. Where my parents live in ND is having some of the worst numbers in the US. My wife is a nurse locally and keeps me informed about what she is seeing at work as well.
It is alive and well in Massachusetts. Our cuck governor announced a curfew between 2200-0500, along with more business restrictions. Testing tents are popping up everywhere. I can't believe the lines of people to get tested, it's like they want to have it. Well done government, well done.

We can agree there considering thousands die everyday. Millions a year in this country alone. The older you are the more likely you are to die from all causes. It’s part of life.
The 240k covid death stat is not true either. To fall in that category only requires a dead person test positive.
Hit by a bus on your motorcycle, end up in icu and die with positive test? You're now a covid death.
Numerous false positives occur. Testing also isn't designed for determining if someone is truly sick. Look how many times high profile people are reported positive but no death or icu followup. Many people, hours later, take another test that shows negative.
Hospitals get huge checks for having covid patients. Large incentives to push everything as covid.
It's been turned into a system of control to enable communism. The gov doesn't get to tell you if you're livelihood is essential or not. But here we are with them doing exactly that.

We are at 4k a day in Ohio which is almost double from a few weeks ago. It was as predicted, viral infections increase as the temperature drops. Expect covid cases to keep increasing. I would also expect cold and flu cases to go up as well.
If Biden wins, shutdowns will be imminent. If Trump wins, it will vary state to state as it did before unless he intervenes.

Now, there are some questions that we must patiently wait to be answered:
1) Does the climbing fault case count suddenly halt when we reach ~15-20% infection levels in the areas currently affected? That's what happened in the Sun Belt this summer. The present slope doesn't show that we're close to that point, but this outbreak seems to be more widespread so it might just take several weeks of six-figure daily case counts.
2) How many of those cases will turn into deaths? Those typically lag ~3 weeks behind infections. Much of this will depend upon who's getting infected and the effectiveness of various therapeutics. Also, if deaths due to causes other than Covid are being "laundered" as Covid deaths, that should put a cap on the daily death toll.
I'm not going to spend a lot of keystrokes on hypothesises beyond this, since I don't believe it will generate any fresh thinking or robust discussion.

Obviously new confirmed positive cases are increasing rapidly.
Deaths lag infections by 14-21 days in general, and deaths ARE increasing....but looking at the charts, the increase in deaths is in no way following the increase in confirmed positive cases.
This is due to any number of factors - younger average age of confirmed positive case, more asymptomatic and very mild disease captured, better treatments and treatment protocols, etc.
Again, the average age of COVID deceased is 76-80 years old and average life expectancy in the United States is 78-79 years old.
Check out Trevor Bedford on Twitter. He has an analysis of the first point, and it seems that these numbers are not going to crest anytime soon, sadly.

I don't need to read anything from any self-proclaimed expert to see the trajectory of that curve. Unless there is some weapons-grade tomfoolery going on with the numbers, the daily case count won't peak for at least another few weeks at some level substantially higher than the current number. We're in that "vertical wall and still climbing" part of the curve.
But then again, there was also a point in July where it looked that that would happen in the Sub Belt, and then suddenly the "hot 50” counties stopped producing new cases.
This shit is weird. If I were inclined to generate theories, it'd be tempting to hypothesize that this disease is getting "re-seeded" on some sort of periodic basis. I'm sure the epidemiologists have an alternative explanation.
You do realize that these are false positives. 90% of PCP tests result in false positives. CDC says it, NYT reported it, Fauci fuckhead admitted it. This is the whole premise of the CDC’s September testing recommendation of don’t get tested unless you are sick. Of course they released it in a report and fake news never reported it.
Cases mean nothing. Even hospitalizations are misleading considering states DO NOT differentiate between a person hospitalized because of Covid complications and those who popped a fake PCP test and is admitted for anything else.
What is the prevalence rate and test specificity that you are using to justify this conclusion?
