Maggie’s What's Your View II

I moved to Idaho a week ago. Had to take a hit on the comfort side of my standard of living, but the adventure and beauty elements went up.

Drove to the end of the road I live on yesterday morning, saw a sign "Trail to lake," 1.5 hours later the dog and I were enjoying a dip here. We were back home by noon.

An evolving list of chores, motor-home repairs and a job hunt means these will have to wait for a week or 2. Still scouting public land for places to put the larger 2 out to 1000 yds, the smaller 2 will just be for 22LR.

So...I bought the wrong kind of instant tea the other day. My daughter had asked me to pick some up after work. She made a pitcher and I have to say that it was one of the worst things I've ever tasted. She didn't disagree. Now.. What to do with it? She loves to shoot " reactive" targets. I always keep some tannerite targets around for her and her 10/22. She enjoys shooting Oreo's on occasion also. I thought we'd try something different today though. Something like a 40 grain Vmax at around 4000fps out of my Dad's 22 BR. That sounded interesting to her and she had never shot a centerfire before so, game on.

First 5@ 100 yds. Good to go.

Tea time:

Well, shit. That didn't work. She shot it through the end of the can and then we tried it from the side. Bullets just went in and desintegrated. We were hoping for a big cloud of powder. Nothing doing. "Shoulda brought some tannerite Dad." Yeah, yeah.
So she shot her 10/22 a little and we headed home already making plans for next time.

^^You thought that was your 22BR. Wonder who has dibbs on it now?

Taught all my girls to shoot, rim and centerfire. Took the three youngest P. dog hunting in their earlier years, they still talk abut it. Next time, mix water in with the tea. Splat!

Teaching a girl to shoot, good on you Dad.

So glad I didn’t have daughters as there wouldn’t be guns or a safe to keep them in left behind? “ But daddy”????? Told the wife I would have been the biggest daddy chump on the planet?

These are the last dogs for us. We are on the go way too much to have dogs anymore. Oldest one is 9 and young one is 3

That’s what I said after I put the best lab on the planet down. Wife did an end around on me two weeks later with a yellow fur ball running around the corner to greet me? Yours is certainly a unique circumstance and understand your reasoning. Damn hard on the road.

So far I have the wife in agreement. These bulldogs are perfect for trailer life though. They are perfectly content to just nap all day.

Growing up in farm country and with many friends who still do, I cant imagine a farmer who wouldnt. My daughter always gets a ride in some equipment when we visit my buddy I grew up whth who farms and raises 999 head of cattle.

I still remember my first time driving at age 5. It was a Steiger Panther center pivot beast pulling a monster wide disc in a Nebraska wheat field near Kimball.
Don was a heckuva guy. Still have that picture of me on the steps.

Only way I'd get another dog would be if it could feed itself and pick up its one shit!! ?

Had a meeting last night with the crew to survey the viability of you not getting another dog.......it did not go well brother? 3-0 your getting another dog so just polish up that pooper scooper and give it the tech screw it might need when the time comes????

I'd rather be home, but she wanted me to come along. The first condo they put us in was ground level and had a view of shrubs. I basically told her that if that's the best we can do I'm driving home and will come back for you Friday.
We got an upgrade. Still not as nice as home, but at least it doesn't feel like prison now.
That dammed pond is full of fat headed snappers. Kind of wish I'd brought the 22, but skippers might be an issue

90s around 3100-3200 should be good for just about anything ?

Nice! Hydrostatic DRT for sure? As a kid I got to piss off badgers with a 22lr when your boys gun would have been a much better choice? Ever seen a badger that’s been shot between the eyes with a 22? Talk about a pissed off maladjusted critter???
