Maggie’s What's Your View II

Well, while grilling a combo of Iowa raised NY strips and some elk steaks last night as part of our National Bourbon Day get together a little monkey said she didnt feel great and had a temp of 101.0. Meds and bed and slept for almost 12 hrs.......
Still temps this AM. Been some strange off and on respiratory junk and low grade temps for about 5 weeks.
Headed to urgent care for some quick tests and an xray to make sure old dad isnt missing anything and its just a virus hanging on for WAY to long.
Youngest is sick too with low grade temps starting yesterday AM, but nausea and diarrhea.

Not a swell view and glad to have access to the best healthcare in the world for when the kiddos are sick.
We wont have it this good or easy if the communists get their way.......

Hate it when the kiddos get sick. Hope they get better soon.
I came down with a bit of a chest cold, thought it was allergy’s but it wasn’t. Feeling crappy today so this is my view. Got some loading to do for the match at the first of July.

Nice reloading area and with a view.

Friday was for keeping promises.
The neighbors were working on their new fencing and I had promised Riley that I would come and get him and take him for a ride on the ATV. The kid loves equipment, mowing, etc., so we hooked up the pull behind and mowed the easement road. He friggin' loved it!
Then he asked if we could go fishing. Yeah, buddy, we can go fishing!
We rode around the pond on the ATV, stopping periodically to make a cast. Finally got one on about halfway around and I acted like I couldn't handle it by myself, so I asked him to put his hand on the rod and help me out with it.
The danged thing was hooked pretty good, and I was struggling with keeping him straight, keeping the Polaris right, and getting the fish off.
He was laughing his ass off - the little shit! ?

Took him back and we watched his stepdad and helper work on the fencing for a while, then we went to their house, picked up the girls, and took the hard workers some sandwiches.

Riley ate his lunch and wanted to stay and watch the tractor pulling the fencing tight, so the girls and I headed back over to my place.

They wanted to explore the house. Then we played some games that they made up, had a dance recital on the back porch, and threw sticks and rocks in the pond.
Had some snacks, watched Paw Patrol, and headed back home with them.
Took Riley for a few more rides and then took him back to the house and carried him in. He's getting heavy!

Other pics are just miscellaneous weekend views and one of my dad chatting on the phone with one of his lesser sons while we visited yesterday.
He'll be 89 next month. He's doing alright.

View attachment 7096563Cash is ridin shotgun for the trip home. He loves a good cab over
What kinda cab over Geno? Dad had an old Western Star that we hauled grain with for a long time then traded it for peanuts to run a little newer but easier T800... Should have never gotten rid of it. The guys that got it all the way out on the east coast keep in touch as they've turned it into a headturner at any show they bring it to. Now I'll need to find some pics of the old girl before/after.

My 66 Oldsmobile 88 was like driving a water balloon so it was time for the front end to be rebuilt.
All new steering linkage and suspension parts arrived. Front drums are stuck like white on rice. I hammered and pried for several hours. Heated with the torch and still no luck. Finally broke out the sawz all and a couple blades later I was through the first drum. Gotta pick up a couple more blades for the drivers side. Now it's going to be a couple weeks before the disc brake conversion comes in.

What I was doing last weekend at Sonoma Raceway, helping dial in a close friend's new track car.

This was the first serious track test and the car finished first in NASA TTU with the exception of a Norma which is in a totally different league. The car had a serious aero push due to too much rear wing downforce and high front splitter. Once the chassis ride height is squared away and aero is tuned it should be capable of running times similar to current Trans Am series cars.

For NASCAR fans this track configuration is the same one that NASCAR is running for the first time at Sonoma, it should make for some exceptional racing!

Well ladies, I have been off the lifting and running for a bit due to some issues with muscle spasms when running. Doc something prescribed rest and stretching, which became rest and beer and extra snacks.
So I have become a fat ass. Well maybe not, but for a guy who thinks training for a half marathon is a 6 week train up to do well, I have a little extra and am not fit enough to run 8 miles on Friday and go hike up a 14er with all the extra group gear on Sat AM and still be the first one to the top......

Back at it starting a couple weeks ago and today ran 3.5 miles at a 10.23 pace. Not so fast and nice to be back moving. You guys don't want pics of me all red faced and sweating like Uncle Schartz at the propane store.
