Maggie’s What's Your View II

Mudbugs are way more than beer leagues but your right they are. I spent a bunch of years in Senior A Industrial leagues and it was real fun.

You're correct canman. They're not even old enough to buy beer. This league, the NAHL, is a Junior Hockey league made up of 16-21 years old kids. They are working hard, trying to get recognized, and picked up by a higher up league, or picked up by a college.

By calling it the beer leagues, I’m referring to the fan base. Junior hockey is the proving ground for college or for the extremely gifted, a draft spot into the NHL. I meant no disrespect to your team. My son and I enjoy every chance we have to travel to watch USHL teams in our area. Bud Night at a Des Moines Buccaneers game is a lot of fun! And even though the fans are half gassed going into the 2nd period, they typically have a fair understanding of the game.

Could be worse...

Yesterday at my favorite range. the 770 buffalo is 2 mils wide. if you can't hit that you have issues. No wind at shooting spot, but had to aim 2 mills left to hit buffalo. There are poles with streemers for wind calls . The 800 gong you can't see but it is there. I would say it is 12-18". I hit it 7 out of 15, with 4 in a row once I got wind dialed in. That was with 223.

300WSM I don't have load as dial in and went 1 for 5. But you can tell that 190 SMK hits a shit ton harder than 77SMK.

The little pig at 300 is actually pretty good practice. It is small.

The ding on the buffalo gives people a lot more confidence, I understand how big it is and how non-challanging it is. I aimed at its head (left side of pic) and hit right behind its ass. which was about 1.75 mils. Aim left 2 mils and went 20 for 20. But my wife does not quite get how really big it is. She went 10 for 10 (after I had it dial of course) and her smile was big as shit. To quote her " the ding is a feel good moment"

1,125 miles from my town to Price. Shoot in a canyon. Shoot a steel buffalo. Nice drive through ND, SD, WY and UT.

"Hey Child Bride, what to go on a road trip...."
It is about 2.5 hours from me. But you head this way and I will take care of you once you hit UT boarder. I did mount Rushmore to home in one day once but that is a complicated story.

This certainly has to be one of my favorite threads on this site. It's always cool to come here and see what's going on in the lives of others and the places they live and visit.

I haven't posted here in a while. Been pretty busy with work and other stuff, so this will likely seem random, but here goes.

Thursday
Been keeping an eye on a friend who's struggling a bit on the domestic side.
She'd been untypically out of touch for a little while, so I thought I'd see if I could fish for info.
Turns out her husband, father of four, has been misbehaving a little. She's playing it right and has evicted him until he can show improvement. I need to see if I can get a lunch date with her soon and get a few more details and make sure she and the kids are doing OK.
I'll never understand guys like this. He's got it all. Health, a good job, and a beautiful family. Yet he seems angry about something.

So I was out early the other day at the homestead and I snapped a couple of pics as the sun began to fill the sky with light and color.
I sent them to her and said simply, "He can change the world in a minute. He's got you and you've got this."

Another very good friend had a birthday coming up this weekend, today actually. I knew I was going to busy moving a car dealership Friday. Thursday, I took my moonshining (legal) buddy his computer back after a little cleanup and maintenance. The business is still fledgling at best, so I still don't charge him for my services, but he asked, so I came up with an idea.
I got him to write a note on a bottle of his hooch and sign it for the other friend.
She also is running a fledgling business and gets free services and other things from me, at least until I know they're actually making some profit. It's a preschool/daycare, so the note fits.

"Take twice daily for nervousness. Happy Birthday Shannon! - Robert Bondurant 9-2-19"

She loved it! Sent me a pic today and said she was enjoying her present by the pool.

If you watch that "Moonshiners" show, he may look familiar.

Friday
12 hours of moving the dealership wore me out pretty good, but they are profitable, so... ;)

Saturday
It was time to give the driveway some attention. There were washouts from last weekend's heavy rains. The stuff is fine crushed asphalt millings. On level ground and small grades it's fine, but on a couple of hills it's not quite stable under heavy downpours and the loose stuff ends up at the bottom of the hills. So I moved the loose stuff back up the hills with the Polaris and the snow blade, and then fine finished it with a push broom. It's kind of like beach sand, but a little more coarse.

Sunday
After giving it some deliberation, I decided to spray the loose stuff with some diesel fuel. I could see quite a bit of powdery asphalt in it, so I'm hoping the diesel will melt that and make it bond better. 30 gallons through the backpack sprayer and then packed it down with the Tacoma. We'll see what happens when it rains hard again. Fingers crossed.

The millet is coming along, but not quite ready for today's dove opener. No worries. We'll give a few weeks and hunt when it's cooler.

Labor Day
I had one quick job at the dealership. That was the plan. I knew better. I expected it.

When we moved them Friday the phone and network guys asked me about this orange and silver device. It was plugged into power and network at the old building. No label. No brand. No make. No model. Nothing.
I said, "I don't know what it is, but it's not there for no reason, so take it to the new site and set it up the same way - power and network."

Today none of them could print from the dealer management system. They could print through Windows and other devices fine, but the DMS uses a wonky VPN setup where the printers are installed in the DMS servers and printing occurs through the Internet. Dumbest shit ever.
There's a printer 3 feet away and the print job has to halfway across the country and back through the Internet to print to it.

We messed with settings and things for a couple of hours, and then the guy from Utah says, "Let's try to reboot the print gateway."
"OK, what's that?"
"It's an orange and silver box with power and network."

MOTHERFUCKER!

They had plugged it into power, but no network. How they thought that would do anything is something I'll ask them tomorrow.

Meh. I made enough to buy a scope. Life is good.

It's Japanese and golden.
I usually plant browntop. Planted white this year. Those need about 80 days for hard seed.

The State fucked our dove season this year. We had one that aligned with planting season for wheat, but they changed that this year. Said it was from hunter comments. Bullshit, it was from greengeans complaints. He was getting tired of being told to F off when screwing with folks hunting over grains.

I know this is the "View" thread, but today, I'll talk about sounds.

Six years ago, our only son died in an auto accident. 18 months later, a young couple moved in next door. Dude was a little older than our son, but the chick was exactly the same age. Didn't go to the same school as our son, but had mutual friends. I thought this was just a coincidence.

Fast forward a few years, and they had a baby. The most awesome girl child anyone could have.

She and I have loved each other from day one. About 2 months ago, they sold out and moved.

Today, we visited them at their new house. Kinsley ( the baby ) didn't know we were coming. The ecstatic giggles when she saw me walking toward the patio were the sweetest sounds I have ever heard. The joy that this child brings cannot be put into words.

I guess I am just an old softy, but this baby melts my heart.

Dang boys.

Wader, kids will do that.
Little ones especially. How blessed to have an adorable kiddo you get to see and cherish.

Tucker.
I get how a guy can feel that way.
A few years back I had a lot of hate in me.
Life looked damn good to an outsider.
Pain like a bed of nails behind closed doors. Lot of reasons for that that outside couldnt know.
I never was or will be one to lay hands on a woman though. Much as they may goad a man or ask for it, best to be bigger and walk away.
A few of my closest friends knew there was some shit. I never talked to anyone about it.
I can tell you guys years later in snippets and I still dont like to talk about it much.

Hard to tell.
Give me their first names and I will pray for the both of em.

oh dude thats so fucking cool, youre a rich man

From the body language and positioning I'd say divorcees meeting to do some kind of exchange ......

The three skinnys are detectives.
I was talking about the Johnny Rambo from some outside agency.
This angle makes him look skinny.
I didn't get a chance to see what agency he's from.

You could trot backwards and outrun him.

A Buddy and I had to go get some supplies to replace the insulation under the house from the broken water pipe. He sez let's stop by the Legion for some drinks. Ok! But just a couple, we got work to do. ?

Busted pipe? Wha??

Best not piss her off too much buddy. She is the only one who will put up with ya! ?

The water damage was from the last big freeze that broke a pipe. FINALLY got to it to replace the insulation.

If I don't piss her off every now and then she forgets how good she's got it when I'm good. :ROFLMAO:

? I have to do the same thing with my wife . She makes me pay for it but usually is ok the next day.

So the lesser Bulls are popping their heads out everywhere. They're starting to enter the herds until the bigger boys run them off. This guy tonight I gotta peek at last week at Bone River. Decent Bull anyone would be happy with on public land.

Seen 7 herd of Elk on way home and I thought I had good video of this dandy 6x5 just before Johnson's Landing, but he was just on the fringe of my lights. Damn shame, he's a good Bull!

Gotta get @Rthur all pumped up since he'll be chasing Wapati pretty soon. ?
