Nice boletes.
Have I told you lately I hate you?
Not really, but you are hard to like with all this showing off your stellar woodcrafting skills.

My woods are sparsely populated with blue staining boletes. Can sometimes find the edible lilac bolete, but rarely beat the phorid flies to the feast.

Love wild mushrooms!

Grew up eating a lot of fried morels.

@tnichols
Is it getting dry enough by you to start picking corn? Should be about right moisture by now I reckon.
Harvest is 3-4 weeks behind normal due to a wet spring. The majority of the beans are dead ripe and testing 11-13% moisture which is just right. However, they’re small. Test weight will be good but yield will be less than normal.

Corn is all over the place as the planting dates were as much as 4-5 weeks apart. Silage cutting for the most part is complete. Harvest of commercial corn is just starting. Moisture levels are high still. No reports of yield numbers, but I suspect it will vary by a fair amount. Weather wise, it’s been a weird year.

I don't know the charge, but you will be spending at least one night in the care of Lulu the jailhouse matron.

At thee very least. We had a Father and Son (19) in a couple yrs ago. They came all the way from California just to pick shrooms at Ft Canby. Dad admitted it was his idea. I congratulated Dad for pinning his Sons 1st Felony on him, then proceeded to chew his ass for a good 5 min tirade. Fucked his Son up more ways than one. ?

Hopefully my view of electricity bills improves after today, pulled down 7 old panels (1.5 kwh) and installed 22 new ones (7 kwh). Bills should end up in credit that can be used to pay the gas bill. New system should do well while we are away in Singapore for 8 days starting less than 36 hours away now. Can even see what it is doing on my phone. Looking forward to posting some pics of Sentosa in a couple of days, have not seen it since 1981.

Or just come to Denver where they legalized possession of said “shrooms” in the last year.

The story was for PTSD treatment.

The person who was advocating for it they interviewed on the new looked like a mix of a Rasta, old hippy, and Jack Nicholson at full crazy.

But we dont have a human poop patrol like SF, yet......

Bout the same here in NE Nebraska. I haul for a farmer who lost the bridge 1/2 mile from his place. Now the trip from field to bin is 2 1/2 miles. Like you said beans are small but bushels are good. Corn is wet, in the mid 20's so it will be awhile. He lost his rifle & pistol range but we have them back up. Due the bridge out the rifle range is 800 down from the 1400 it was. Looking at a remote camera system to save the long drive to check targets. Anyone have any ideas on a good system?

All this wet snow and rain has pretty shut down all shooting activity for awhile. Staying close to the house keeping an eye on the Child Bride. One of the last boxes to get taken care has a few of our print collection, getting them back in place this AM.

When I'm not around the Duke keeps a eye on things for me. Grainy photo, best I could do without glare.

The Child Bride is feeling better...

At what point does it go from just a thing growing on a week old cow turd to a felony? If they picked one off an old turd and ate it on the spot, felony? I just don't see why there's a law against picking things off turds and eating them. Let them eat turds!

I don't know all the ins n outs other than possession is still illegal here. Ft. Canby/Cape Disappointment is a State Park with a ton of signage/warnings of what will happen if you go off trail and/or get caught in possession of Psilocybin. It's very well known that shrooms grow there like nowhere else.

It's a big world out there. There's plenty of places to go and get the little bastards, but no, everyone has to go to the honey hole knowing good and well the place is watched like Fort Knox, day and night. But it is Job security........ ?

I know all about magic mushrooms, personally and professionally. NOBODY eats shrooms and stays in control. That's not a good thing. Weird shit happens............

Now that we're heading into October and the PNW shroom season is kicking into high-gear, I want to give a word of warning to anyone who hasn't gotten it yet--DON'T GO PICKING AZURES IN CAPE DISAPPOINTMENT STATE PARK!!!

The Azures are there in abundance. So are the cops. Maybe you'll get lucky, pick a bunch and get home safe and sound, but if you get busted, you WILL be convicted of a felony!

Doesn't matter if you've never been arrested for anything before, doesn't matter what you've been contributing to society when you're not out picking shrooms. Don't think that carrying around a camera or saying you're doing mycology "research" or anything like that will get you off. If you've got azures on you (or in a bag you left on the ground reasonably close to you), you're done for. The rangers have probably been watching you picking shrooms with binoculars from hundreds of yards away for the last half-hour (they know that bag is yours and you just dropped it when you saw them coming up). You may not spend more than a night or two in jail, but you will be a convicted felon when they're done with you! And being a convicted felon sucks! It sucks REALLY BAD!!!

I was new to this whole scene last fall, having taken a decade-long break from all psychedelics. Got into mushroom hunting, found some cyans in a park by my place in Portland, had a blast with them, thought finding Azures on the coast sounded so cool, read up on where they grew and how to ID them, but missed some of the word already out there that Cape Disappointment was really dangerous. Had a nice getaway with the girlfriend in a cabin in the park planned, was an absolutely beautiful fall weekend, picked some delicious Boletes in the morning that we ate for lunch. I went out for azures in the afternoon while the girlfriend took a nap. Had maybe ten on me when a ranger SUV pulled right up on me. First arrest ever. Spent the rest of the weekend in the Pacific County jail, got charged with felony possession, eventually pled guilty because they were threatening me with a couple months in jail.

I've got split custody of my two young kids, which I would've lost, would've lost my home...figured taking the plea meant I'd only lose my job. Which I did. At the beginning of February. I'm still out of work. People up here are real progressive, they're all for criminal justice and drug law reform, they really feel for your situation, think you got screwed, really hope you can get that shit expunged from your record, but, you know, there's a company policy about hiring a convicted felon, so sorry, etc. etc.

I don't know anything about the rest of Long Beach or Ilwaco or anywhere else up there, if they get patrolled in the same way as the state park. Maybe not? But if you do get busted, you'll still be dealing with prosecuting attorney and horrible human being Mark McClain, who doesn't believe in misdemeanor charges for shroom possession.

Don't know how they handle this stuff on the Oregon side. either, though Oregon did do away with felony charges for simple possession this year, at least if you don't have any prior drug felonies. So if they do bust you in Fort Stevens or thereabouts, you'll probably only be looking at a misdemeanor on your record, which could still suck, but will be better!

Don't know why the rangers in Cape Disappointment and the Pacific County DA feel like busting shroom pickers is the best use of their time and resources, but it seems like they do.

I really don't want to have to read anymore accounts of people getting busted up there. Getting arrested for picking shrooms sucks, becoming a convicted felon for picking shrooms sucks...there's no shortage of wonderful shrooms growing all over the PNW, Cape Disappointment is just too dangerous a place to chance it. Just my opinion, though based on relevant experience.

Be careful out there...

@1J04 All's well going to a zoo at the beach, then wtf, critters in jail, makes you feel all bad for them and shit, then next thing you know you're marching from zoo back to beach in 90* heat with "went through a desert on a horse with no name" blaring on your tastebuds then go for a swim till some strange dudes on a big ship try to rescue you? Something like that? That would be strange and sound purple.

Now the Army does have these which was the main reason for my trip this week and the USMC is also getting the Carl Gustaf. Both weapons were under the same roof today

Arrived at our hotel in Singapore about 24 hours ago after about a 14 hour trip, saw a designated smoking area right next to the entrance so sent the bags ahead and headed that way. Pam tripped over the yellow line and did a massive horizontal face plant into the concrete. Applied first aid and a few Singapore Slings and she started to feel better but looks like I beat the crap out of her. Would not let me take a pic to show you guys.
