Roofing nails aren't very magnetic...
This would be a declaration of war.

That's 'one' reason we went down there. Someone was gonna have to put in some crawl n stoop time, so we did.

And yes, This would be a declaration of war, 'may' have been said almost simultaneously by 3 outta 6. It's a really sparsely populated area. Shit don't stay quiet long. Hell, the guy doesn't even stay down here or know many people. It's his 3rd home away from home that he enjoys weekends and holidays at and we watch the place, along with others fairly well. So the list of individuals that know him or have any reason whatsoever to drive down this dead end road is pretty fucking short. Ballsy career move I'll tell ya that. You can't take this one back and I'm pretty certain this is gonna turn out like Herpes for the piece of shit. Oh well, his choice..........

Yea, I would say it was a bad move on someones part......keep your eyes, and ears open.....you will find out who is responsible.......there was a reason, someone pissed some one off.......do what is needed to remedy the situation when the guilty party is identified. only scattered nails one time....1976......AFLCIO strike.......tarpaper nails land 90% up when thrown from a 50 lb. box.......

Stop in every bar and roadhouse within 50 miles and let every bartender know what it's worth to you for information. Chances are that whoever did that shit ain't the most popular guy anyway. Friendly likable folks don't do fucked up shit like that. Hell, you've got access to all the cons. Put it out that there's extra commissary for word on the street.

I'll happily contribute to the bounty. Hell, if I can afford the flight I'll fly up for the "party".

Both good ideas from Bogey and Tucker. Save all that hardware you fellas picked up. Once you find the scoundrel, give him an ultimatum. A good ol fashioned piss beating OR you get to spread that shit in HIS lawn or driveway. If he picks the second option, I envision lawn chairs, coolers, grills, etc...enjoy yourselves watching HIM pick up every last piece. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

I just had an even better idea, but it's too much to type. It involves a 502 Air Tractor with the dry spreader on and the GPS coordinates to his property. Carry on.

Dear Mr. Nichols; Great idea, I like it!

J; If you're considering doing another "food drive", I'm good for about 25 gallons of Jet A. Looked it up and it's going for $3.67 a gallon @ KAST;

Probably wouldn't be more than about 15 or 20 minutes of flight time........

502's(XP) with a PT6 are the shizzle. Low, slow, accurate and over 5,000 lbs payload........What could be better ?

My only condition is that I want pics.......

When you find out who, leave the nails in a pale sitting in the middle of his drive. Don't scatter. This will seriously fuck with him because he'll know retribution is still due. Wait a while before doing whatever should come next.

All great ideas for sure !! What a hodgepodge of like minded people. MtnCreek (nailed) it though. This was by far the least intrusive idea discussed during project "Urgent Fury". I really don't know what route this is gonna take other than one thing being for sure. It kinda reminds me "Sharks" predicament regarding him changing his screen name to "DirtyD" and moving outta State. You guy's remember, right? Ya do good all your life as best ya can. Then ya get caught fucking a goat ONCE, and forever more you're known as "The Goat Fucker". So unfortunate, but it's really about choices, isn't it? :p

So yes. There's obviously a local miscreant who didn't factor in that in this little piece of heaven an act such as this does not get forgotten, or forgiven. Ever. I don't know what's gonna really happen. I'm certain I'll hear some things about what may have happened here and there. But I'm also certain I won't know any of the players involved. :cool:

So on the topic of "miscreants". There seems to be a rash of them about. Near and far. Because I have so much love in my heart for my Brother's, I've taken it upon myself, yet again, to bless one of you, as I have been blessed by others, with a little project I honestly cherish for all the right reasons. Knowing the background of this endeavor and the sentimental value of it makes it truly something I believe in being a part of. And I'm honored for being trusted once more, by a person I've never met, but who undoubtedly has good wholesome values that I myself try to stand for, yet is questionable. :)

I'm going to do my utmost to look past the childish degradation of this endeavor, Sweet Baby Jesus, and address it with zeal, Oh Lord Why, and carry forth, unto, into, and in close proximity of which we all hold dear. Now I just have to explain to my Wife what the Hell I'm doing........ :confused:

That's a fucking riot...

So just for shits n giggles I head down to the dilapidated death dock and run into a dear friend that got me into Spinner Building about 20 years ago. It was great timing cuz I wanted to speak with him regaring 'his' sources for components for a project I'm working on for a close personal fiend. :eek:

He's already got a couple Coho on the Stringer. I leave my Rod and Net down there this time of year with a homemade lure so when people stop by and wanna take a few casts it's all good. My Buddy, Grizzly Adams, is like a bunch of other folks around these here parts. Don't do the Cell Phone thing. Ain't got no need fer one uh dum der contraptions. Water finished the Ebb and is just starting to go on the Flood so I decide to grab the 'stick' and give her a toss or two. Bam !!! Hella take down by probably the next State Record Coho/Silver !!!!!!! It's on !!! Epic Battle ensues. Man vs Beast. Mono e Mono on Monofilament. :rolleyes:

So there I am, doing the best I can to slay the Beast or be slayed. It's getting scary as hell and I yell to Scotty, "Run Scotty Run". Being the Trooper he is he chooses not to heed my warning and remains in the Jaws of Peril with me. Then the light goes on. You've gotta record this for posterity. History has shown we still have questions

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/salemnet.vo.llnwd.net\/media\/cms\/BST\/29991-jonah.800w.tn.png"}[/IMG2]

and I'll be go to Hell if I'm gonna let history repeat itself TODAY !!! So I gulp down a mouthful of trepidation, pull out my Cellular Device, and am trying to hand it off to document this Biblical event. It's a no go. "Here, record this would ya"? Answer: How? "FUCK". "What"? "You don't know how? bzzzzzzzzz more line gone". No. "Oh Christ". "Here, take this".

So I hand my Rod off and immediately the Beast sees it's chance and runs up river as I'm trying to get my Cellular/Communication/Recording/Mobile Device activated for my new found Cinematographer Apprentice. Damn Salmonid scurry's for the brow logs but nay, Scotty foils the attempt at freedom, gives me my pending World Record back, and begins his own little adventure into videography. :p:eek::p:eek:

All I can say is thank God for the Window Weight Bonker. Couple taps of that on the Noggin to take the piss n vinegar outta ya before getting the obligatory Gill Split and we're good. Wew

I coulda taken the easy way out and edited the hell outta this, but this original Director's Cut just can't be beat.

72lbs on the bathroom scale. And yes, I didn't plan on fishing just yet and didn't wanna get scales n slime all over me due to another little project and meeting I had to attend to. But you're there, and who's "NOT" gonna take a couple casts?

Hope ya get a chuckle. I did.

You see how 'buttoned up' that fishes snout was? That monster wasn't going ANYWHERE. ;) That was a solid hook-up. Pretty Hootchie hang'n off that lure ain't it? I'm thinking about the clone's, but I'm also thinking about some tad more modified clones as well. We'll see. We'll see just how much imagination we can put into this endeavor. ;););)

"Frickin' Laserbeams, Frickin' Laserbeams"........

Coho-Zilla ?.......

lmao

The first push, just like every year, had the hens running up river first. Couldn't catch a buck to save your ass. Now, now it's nothing but bucks, which I prefer after I'm topped off on curing Steelhead nom nom. I hope you boys up north are pounding the hell outta the recent 'mistake' inadvertently performed in your parts. :mad:

Hi J;

I'm on the other side of the Atlantic on vacation for another week. I plan on hitting the Stillaguamish hard when I get back, probably about October 6th or 7th. The fall Coho runs don't usually heat up until the 1st or 2nd week of October, so I think I'm good.

Yeah, the dumbshits with the farms apparently couldn't figure out that with the eclipse, there would be abnormally high tides. That, and a power failure led to the escapement. What the hell were they thinking, raising Atlantic Salmon in the PNW ? I'm really not a fan of farmed fish. Have you ever seen the color of the meat of a fish that's been fed nothing but fishmeal on a farm ? Yech !
I sold my Seaswirl 3 or 4 years ago, so I don't get out on the salt much anymore. Kinda miss it, but the maintenance, prep and post op clean up got to be too much. The Stilly is nice. I put on my waders and gear at the house, throw the rod, cooler and campstool into the Denali, stop by Shop and Rob for a bag of ice and a sixer of Bud and I'm standing in the Stilly 20 minutes after leaving the house.

Agree 100%. Farmed Salmon is 'shit'. Period. I wouldn't feed it to the Raccoons. You fish above the fork around Norman Rd or further down by Stanwood? Just curious. Is there a Salmon hatchery on the Stillaguamish? Or just Steelhead? That's gotta be a different fishery since there's not a helluva lot of water North or South of 532. Reminds me of an area around the Nisqually;)

Ya, epic failure on that pen deal. That doesn't have to happen, and personally, I just can't support not only the risk involved in introducing accidental Atlantic's to the region, but the continued risk and multiple releases to date. Hate it.

Enjoy the vacay and don't be bashful. Few pics would be cool. ;) Now stop screwing around and get back here and get your hook in the water.

Good looking fish 1J. Do male salmon get hookjaws like a trout?

Hooked Nose's, yes. You can't tell on this one since he's busy munching my lure, but he 'just' started to hook up before he hooked up. ;) The bucks are also longer in the jaw, hens are noticeably shorter jawed. You can also tell species apart, Chinook, Coho, Sockeye, Humpy's, etc by the spots, gum color, shapes, tails etc.

Where we're at they are still fresh outta the salt water and still have sea lice usually. The bucks are in pristine condition and the hens roe is perfect in size for curing skeins to turn into Steelhead. On the bucks you'll notice their belly fat is better, in my view, than the egg carrying hens. They seem to be a bit thicker in the belly and the Chinook, again in my opinion, is the creme de la creme. They are so damn oily. Smoked, canned, baked, BBQ'd, fried, it's all good.

Trying to get an idea of how we're gonna set up the Mobile Dimensional Mill on this logging road to mill up these cold decks. Not gonna be much room to maneuver at all. Gonna have to bring up the boom truck I think cuz rolling these big bastards onto the bunk is gonna jack up the bunk and frame. Pic really doesn't do the amount laying here any justice. Fair bit of firewood also to take care of. Hmmmmmm wonder if my buddy would let me borrow his splitter? ;)

Straight ahead this road ends in the bigger timber bout 1/2 mile or so. Use to hit this area hard for Deer n Elk. It is one rugged, broken piece of ground in there and will kick your ass. I was rattling and tossing some bleats n grunts in there around 5 yrs ago and all hell broke loose. Got all fired up cuz it sounded like a Buck coming in all fired up. Shit, I thought I was gonna get ran over by this fricking Doe that was curious as all hell in regards to what was going on. When she finally figured it out it was more crash, bang, snap as she bounced outta sight. Damn I love that feeling of excitement. About 20 minutes later I'm sitting there watching a trail maybe 30 yards away and this damn yote shows up. Hmmmmm what to do? Ya, perfect setup, don't wanna screw this place up for the day but it's a damn yote. Yote's must die. BANG !!! DRT. Did I mention how beautiful it is in there? :p

That climate amazes me, that deck would be sawdust and slime sitting on the ground for any amount of time down here. The way shit rots in this climate is something to behold.

The guy that owns the property is new to the area. Came down from Alaska, so he knows a bit about a thing or two. Pretty knowledgeable actually. So he had the foresight to crib his cold deck not knowing exactly when he was gonna get to it. It was raining as we arrived and as ya can see it's not in an 'optimum' spot if it was gonna sit for any real length of time. It would get punky in there inside a year.

That makes me feel better. At least a couple hour's work with Splitzilla yesterday was trying to split out the salvageable wood from around punky heartwood. I'm getting damn near surgical with it, but now have a pile of worthless splits that are destined for the landfill.

Hey man, you're making headway nonetheless. You change your fluids yet? You're suppose to.

Whatta great evening out here on the river. Absolutely perfect. Bout 70, zero wind, clear, and the fish were there. :rolleyes: Lost one, dammit. Only had a short window to hit it, then it got dark. Getting dark a helluva lot sooner, that's for sure. Next thing ya know, suicide season will be upon us. :eek:

Hi J, sorry for the delayed response, been on trains and out of internet svc. I fish a couple of places, the first being where the two branches of the Stilly come back together, just below Norman Road. It’s difficult getting river access around Sylvana, which technically could be considered to be on an island. The other is at the county park, just east of the I-5 bridge. I don’t think there’s a salmon hatchery anywhere on the Stilly. And, I think it’s fly only, possibly C & R only on the N fork above Arlington. Fly fishing is a sport for Noblemen, of which I ain’t. Tried it, couldn’t ever get the hang of it. Attention span too short.

I am looking forward to getting my line in the water a week from Sunday and rejoicing in the fact that I WON’T be watching the NFL......

Take Care,

Thought I'd bring you guys along on this beautiful ride this morning. I know I know, kinda boring, but if you Hunt n Fish you'll wish you were here RIGHT NOW. Love this time of year !!!!

I just figured you out. You live on a cross between a Twin Peaks and an X-Files set. No freakin' wonder, Lawrence.
