Visited the Dignity sculpture in Chamberlain SD today.
Wow, remember the picture above when that turkey came over to visit on my deck? Well now I see why he has no fear!
After the rain stopped the turkey and I were walking out to the shooting range when a young buck confronted the turkey and I witnessed the most amazing fight I've ever seen:
Turkey vs Deer Kung-Foo Style
A cocky young deer walked up and challenged the turkey to a fight
The turkey accepts and they faceoff
The deer throws a Cobra Kai kick
But the turkey counters with the deadly Karate Kid Crane Kick
The deer is startled and circles around for another attach
The deer recovers from his mistake but as he moves in, the turkey flashes the Five Feathered Wing of death punch
The terrified and frustrated deer realizes he has narrowly escaped death
Knowing he has confronted a Master and cannot win, he concedes the fight
He respectfully bows to the master as he struts away
Man, It just keeps getting stranger and stranger around here.......

This mornings view was much better. Took a new turkey hunter out and spoiled / ruined him by making it look easy. Bird was gobbling on the roost about 75yds away. I gave about 4 yelps and he flew down and came right to us. Hunt lasted less than a half hour.
I do believe I’ve got him hooked……

Wife got a gift for helping a coworker out. Neat bottle, but neither one of use drank so it’s just a decoration I reckon

Damned things excavated out under the rack of wood pellets. Once I moved the tractor I found this hole.
How’d you like to find that bastard walking through in the dark…..
What I need is a solution to drive them from the building. Is there some sure way to repel them while we’re not there?
I did employ the best method for removal on one of them this morning. Caught this female munching on the alfalfa.
A subsonic 150gr Golddot did the trick….
Rained last weekend and noticed muddy paw prints all over my deck. Set up the camera and found this guy frolicking all over my deck along with mom and dad.

Helps keep the squirrel and gopher population under control. At our cemetery, damn squirrels and gophers would bring up old human remains and leave the small bones out on the grass.

End of Box Canyon at the Snake River
Came home yesterday to a bad smell. Finally found it today.
Left on the stove with a lid on it. Uncooked. In the house. From Friday to Thursday. Almost threw up.

My ex MIL did that once, with chicken on a pan, but in the oven.
Fortunately during warmer weather and could open the house up.
Nasty stink.
@tnichols my experience was worse than shad by memory, but havent used that for catfish in 20 yrs.
Rotting chicken is supposedly good for gator bait.

Covid exposure during a training got my peers and I sent home for a week. Took part of Friday to go shooting. New 1K range is still being built, but still can play out to 300. Took the M24 and Smith Corona 03A3 out for a bit.
Yesterday was our Walleye opener in Minnesota.
We had three guys in the boat and managed to boat 55 walleyes.
Best opener we’ve had that anyone of us can remember.

It was little bullet day (85.5 Bergers, 90 ATIPS and VLDs and 95SMKs) on the range today.
Perfect thousand yard day: overcast with little or no wind after the fog blew off.

I shoot off the top of a dam grade, with a two track road. I’d kill to get into that position.
Mountain biking through Glade creek. Lots of good holes, I thinking next weekend bringing my rod. Red eft/Eastern Salamanders everywhere. Jack in the Pulpit as well.

No. Weren't there at the right times for that. Right after on that Saturday. The guys were trying to drum up business.
I wanted to hike down into Box Canyon but the wife said no. She didn't want to go that far.
Went up to Red Spruce Knob on the Scenic Highway in Pocahontas county WV with the SO. Trilliums are out in force up there. Red and Painted everywhere, wood anemone and blue bead lillys.

Never thought I'd buy a Buick but here we are - 1958 Buick Caballero Wagon. Where it's sat since last driven in late 70s. Seems to be in pretty good shape but you know how that goes.
Just going off what the owner's daughters guessed from their memories of riding in it and last tag is a '78. Certainly could have been moved from somewhere else. At least it wasn't left sitting in the woods with a tree growing up through it!
Doing this in the driveway sucks. Miss having all my tools, mower lift and the hoist. Got it done ran it for 5 min and the right side coil says I’m done.
