Maggie’s What's Your View II

That would be a true story my friend. I think the smallest I've seen over the Bar was a 12' Livingston with 2 idiots in it. Told my buddy as we were heading out "Don't even look over there". If the Cutter wasn't busy with some other idiots they'd of never been allowed to make it out as far as they did.

Springers are just getting good down here and they'll shut it down before ya know it as well. Seen a few Bow Pickers on the move lately so they're getting ready for their turn. :cautious:

Yeah, but do you have the discipline to look away from a train wreck ? I dont....
Saw a 14’ aluminum boat w/6 eski’s in it when I was up at Red Dog port in 1990....nothin’ but periodic silver flashes on the horizon until it got closer to the tug. Took 45 minutes, think Monty Python. Selling Oosiks and beadware to the camp. Bought a pair of tiny, beautiful beaded moccasions for my infant daughter....$12.00, IIRC. Crazy, drunk bastards.

Looks like there’s going to be a bunch of custom paint work in your near future....
Labor of love/grandkids ?
Finished pics please.....
I guess you could call it a labor of love. Family business that is hard with lots of hours. 100+ hours weeks from mid may till October. No grandkids yet but I do what I do for my kids.

Geno, why the hot water?
Because cold water wasn't working I guess... we usually just use the steam pressure washer for stripping because it works better. The trick with these since, they're injection molded plastic is you have to have enough pressure/heat to get the paint off but not so much as to damage the plastic. Back in the day we had all wooden horse and it was hand sanding everything

Good news is looks like the snakes aren't crawling up there yet.
Wont be long. Over the past 30 years ran into a few copperheads, 2 years ago my wife called, said she almost ran over a rattle snake backing out of our drive. I told her that Id never seen or heard of a rattler in our area, must be something else. Got home and she showed me a picture of a yellow phased timber rattler, about a 4 footer, crawling off the side of our front lawn. She snapped it from the car, smart girl!

I sat on the couch all damned day Friday nursing a sore knee. Bored out of my skull!
Late Saturday morning the thought popped into my head that I could sit and rest my knee in the car just as easily as I could on the couch, AND I needed to stock up on fireworks, AND I haven't seen and smelled to ocean in way too long.
So while my wife was helping someone with a computer issue from her office, I decided that I had had enough of sitting around this place, as beautiful and restful as it is.

I slipped her a note...

A quick packing of some overnight provisions, and we were on the road

A few hours later we hit a big fireworks store in Dillon, SC for the goodies.

Got to where we ran out of land with plenty of daylight left and enjoyed a walk on the fishing pier to look around, enjoy the air and the sights.

Checked into the Hotel a few blocks inland and headed out for some grub.

I didn't hang on to the receipt, as returns are not likely, but I want to say $40.
I was going to get 2X of the 24 pc Exterminators, but they offered me a discount if a I grabbed 4.
Those were $57 ea. with the discount.

Yeah, I was curious because we used to buy them off the Tulalip res. They used to be cheap. Harrah’s (I think) came in, built a casino on the res and taught the tribe how to make money. The days of cheap fireworks are long gone. All the friends kids and our’s are grown, so we now watch the up and comers burn their cash.

Thanks. It's a slow process trying to get motivation for this when it's snowing outside... we got some adhesion promoter because they're an injection molded plastic so tomorrow I'm hoping to get 2 coats of that on, then primer, and maybe the white.

These boat pictures have me thinking of going fishing soon. It's very aLUREing!

I knew that was coming. And well deserved. I can hear it now, "you selfish bastard". :sneaky: For those not in the know, my spinner building project for our man @Tucker301 is not going well at all. And that's on me. He's been more than patient, and I'm appreciative of that. Hoping to have finished product soonest, with assistance. You don't wanna know.

That's the great comedy of all of it. An old man made the originals in his radiator shop back in the early 70's. before Internet. Before Youtube.
It's both sad and funny at the same time.

It's not funny God Dammit. I have a part for my jig on the way that's "suppose" to accept the shorter wires. If that don't do it I'll call @Threadcutter308 because I'm clearly an idiot.

I think Mr. Lynn made them in a 10 inch bench vise with a pair of vise grips and a 4 lb hammer, but you do what you have to do.

I can picture that because the end with the hook isn't wrapped, it just has the hook placed on the 'semi-loop', then pinched together, then the body/weight is slid over that. Then you've got to bend another 'semi-loop', fold it over, then wrap/twist it shut. Without destroying the wire. Definitely Old Man stuff. Nobody else has that kinda patience.

I suppose I could try one in a vise and a pair of needle nose.

Is there a picture of this lure?

Yes. I'll have to look for it. It's a "short wire" spinner. Hence the issue with my jig. It's half the size of what it's for. It's the only ones I've made, the longer ones and that's what the jig is set up for.

edit: by the time you add the body, clevis, and blade, you've taken up pretty much all the room on the shaft so it won't fit correctly in the damn jig.
