Maggie’s What's Your View II

Got out some before the rain started. Gave the mangy things a quick brushing. Took a short nature walk

The race shop building my truck’s short block is backlogged, and won’t get to mine for 10-12 weeks….

So I dropped the cab back onto the frame for now, so I can free up the lift for other projects over the next 2-3 months:

Pain in the ass doing it solo, with all the small moves back and forth to get the mounts aligned before dropping the cab back onto the frame.

Nothing’s hooked back up, but I can at least roll the truck out of the garage and get some other projects knocked out now.

We’re expecting hail and high winds tonight, possibly even a tornado, so I had to put the motor and transmission-less truck back up on the lift in the shop so I could slide my track car in underneath…

…all that in order to free up a garage slot in the main house for our daughter’s car, who’s in town for the weekend.

#1stworldproblems … LoL

Been a good week for knocking out a couple projects. A couple of the guys at deer camp “insulated” our hut. The wood stove would have had it melted in short order. I put a proper pad under the stove and some fiber board and leftover siding behind it. Should be good to go now.

Second project was making this small deck as a replacement for a too small step. Watching my 89 and 90 yr old parents negotiate that step puckered me up every time. This should prove safer…

Will let it sit a couple weeks to be sure it’s completely dry before adding any finish…

Did a brake job for one of my wife’s co-workers yesterday; the RF rotor and pads may have been slightly past their service life 😱:

So in exchange, her husband came over today to help me put up an aluminum pergola with a top that opens and closes, that we snagged from Costco on sale last week:

It’s actually pretty friggin’ cool; very happy with how it turned out. And when I say he came over to help, what I mean is that he did all the work while I handed him parts! 😝

And yes, I know we need to wash to concrete dust off the frame from when we drilled into the patio to anchor the legs.

Señorita Frijoles simply can’t NOT sit on anything placed upon the counter…

…and just noticed the aptly-named box in this instance! She’s a big girl, LoL
I came out of the shower this afternoon, and my new dumpster baby was curled up in the sink

Wait until they discover the playground called the bath tub! LoL

And demand a dripping faucet for batting practice…

Edit: oh yeah, she fetches too. We’ll shoot those hair band things across the room and she’ll bring them back and drop it in your lap to shoot it again. And she follows my wife around the house like a puppy…LoL.

There is something wrong with men who are interested in cats, that is a woman thing
You’re not wrong.

I’ve gone my entire life without owning a cat, and never wanted one. My wife’s allergic to ‘em so I figured we were safe. But now that I’m retired (twice!), we suddenly have 3.5 of the damn things!

First one was a semi-feral cat from our old neighborhood that crawled under my track car to die in our garage after being attacked by an owl; guess how that turned out. Meow Meow in repose:

Second one was a kitten just a couple weeks old found in our backyard by one of our dogs … mom nowhere to be found, and three other kittens dead in the field behind our house. We found an adoptive momma cat in our neighborhood, and a month later after she was weaned, we suddenly had cat #2; Señorita Frijoles, AKA The Shitten:

The third one was adopted by our daughter when she was away at school… She calls him her “boy” LoL, but technically named Figaro, or Fig. He’s a nut bag…always in motion, and no fear of anything, or anyone. Playing with our grandpuppy here:

The 1/2 cat is an orange neighborhood Tom that technically belongs to our neighbors, but eats and sleeps on our porches. He won’t let anyone touch him, and doesn’t have a name…just Orange Kitty. Coming over for a visit:

So yeah… I still think of myself as a dog person, but TBH don’t mind outdoor “barn” cats. They cut down on the vermin and snakes around the house for sure. Yet somehow, here I sit, dad to 3.5 cats.

God help me.

Cats are cool. We had a stray that the daughter brought home. Name was just "Kitty".

Kitty loved me and hated the Wife. Kitty got mad at the Wife and pissed all over the Wife's (bedroom) pillow. :ROFLMAO:

What's not to like ?

All our cats were found in dumpsters with the exception of one that was found by our dogs in the backyard. Very similar situation as yours.
