I am shooting the 88 grain and it is not bad on fur. I am going to hand load the 55 nosler ballistic tip and should be able to get 3400 out of it. Then it will be a fur destroyer.

Indeed it will. I’ve shot numerous critters with the 55gr Nosler out of a 243. It’s one stop shopping.

I got my son a 45-70 Guide Gun for his birthday a few years ago. He's taken a few good deer with it since. He's not sure if the pain inflicted on the shooter just God's way of reminding you this hunting stuff is serious business.

Didnt anyone ever tell you that you cant hit or kill anything with a Remington or a Leupold and certainly not in combo?.......

Except more deer than any other combo in the US quite possibly.
Killed all my critters with factory rigs, Rem, Savage (gasp), and Tikka. And all with Leupolds now that I think of it. ?

I'm a Nightforce fan, but on a lightweight gun I cant stand a heavy scope. Somehow all of my hunting rifles end up with a Leupold on them. Against all odds somehow I still manage to kill a deer every now and then.

First buck I’ve seen behind our house on the 10 years we’ve been here. 100 yards out. After this photo he went into the corn and came back out, walked toward us until about 40 yards out then walked back into the corn.

We should see four legs in the air and smell tenderloins frying Brother !!!! We ain't gonna say nuth'n bad bout protecting your crop. Hell, we encourage killing around here. Ask anyone.

Y'all got till about mid February to get rid of that snow crap, planning on heading Northish from Nevada about then....

You might get lucky or you might not. You should PM me your route. I-15 which is the main corridor is the main priority and is normally attacked by UDOT hard, it rarely closes, if it does it is even rarer to be more than 12 hrs. As we have talked that is not the most scenic route. There are a few passes over the mountains from old highway 89 (more scenic route) to I-15 but most are closed during the winter. 89, highway 6, and I-70 are taken good care of also. We do not leave snow on the roads here, with in 12 hrs of a storm ending all roads including subdivisions/surface streets are normally clear. Your only issue will be if it is actually snowing while your driving.

You may want to pick up a few snacks and some water just in case you get stuck somewhere. Also if GPS tells you to leave a main highway, be careful have a paper map as backup. A couple winters ago some lady was stuck in the snow for a week or more. She was trying to get home and was not familiar with area (traveled for Christmas I think) GPS told her she could make it over a mountain pass that is only open July-September.

Today was leaf cleanup, phase 1.
Got the Ferris stuck twice - not pictured.

Started out blowing leaves off the flower beds and uncovered this little guy sleeping under the leaves. he got lively after being held in my hands for a bit so I took him to the edge of the woods and cut him loose.

In progress. The Advanced Chute Blocker is worth its weight in gold!

During my lunch break I decided to empty my smokeless muzzleloader for cleaning. I think it's been at least 7 years since I cleaned it.
Took a quick rest on the side porch railing and held over my 9 inches of dope.

BOOM......... ping!

Phase one complete. Waiting on the oaks and the beech.
Maybe by Christmas.

Alright, alright! You guys are like a band of brothers I never wanted!! ? I don’t typically hunt deer. I’ve tasted elk, and that pretty well cured my desire for deer. In Colorado, deer tags are harder to come by. Typically you need at least a couple preference points to draw a tag. No over the counter. Private property is difficult at best to hunt on the front range of Colorado. The corn behind our house is not mine, but I do know the farmer and am planning a discussion with him regarding deer hunting. That should give this buck a couple more years of growth unless he gets hit by a car before then. He is a nice solid 4 point buck though ( that’s an 8 point buck for all you easterners that can’t count that low!)... ???

He’s a nice solid buck all right. Don’t think I didn’t consider my 300 BLK SBR with the suppressor! ? I try hard to be an ethical Hunter, but a buck like that certainly puts thoughts in your head!

R Becker was a local pistol smith around here for years. He probably built Iowa Plinker an open gun (USPSA class) in 45 years ago. It was a reference that you would only get unless you were from Pump Handle IA.

R.K. Becker is the name of the gunsmith who made my Open class pistols back when I shot USPSA. I have two modified Para ordnance, one in .45 the other in 38 Super. I haven’t shot USPSA in years, I was thinking I could pull the comp off the .45 and put a suppressor on the end. The neighbor doesn’t mind when I shoot .22 and I don’t think he is smart enough to figure out the difference between a.22 and a suppressed .45.

Thanks mate, will definitely be in touch again getting closer, will probably ditch the people mover after Vegas and get an SUV. The intent is to stay flexible after the family flies home from Vegas on 15 Feb until we have to leave LAX on 22 March. Hoping to find some decent seafood and barbecue in between.

Eating seafood more than 25 miles inland should be against the law.
I find it funny traveling through places like Kansas and Nebraska and seeing signs for fresh seafood.

Those states are 1000+ miles from any coastline.

I live 15 minutes from salt water and still question most restaurants that advertise fresh caught.

Trust me. By the time fall finally arrives I am one very happy Groundskeeper. I took another day today and mowed/weedeated the steepest parts of the road banks that the highway dept. seemed to overlook last week. Got the equipment cleaned up and lubed for the winter. I'll probably have to hit it once more before Christmas, but otherwise should enjoy a nice break for a few months. I do have some tree limbs to trim. That's usually my winter exercise routine.

I'm afraid it's the early stages of what now appears to be hereditary tremors. Likely pentence for something I said in church when I was about 10.
There was an older fellow in the row in front of our family and his head was shaking like Michael J. Fox on the brink of hypothermia. I said, "That man is idling too fast", and the whole pew broke into the dreaded uncontrollable church giggles for the next 15 minutes.
