Here in CO making sure you have some cool hand blown glass and fat nugs (pot head speak) is way more important than a reliable car and winter tires.

Momma has an all-wheel drive. Still has studded snows for winter.

My truck has 2 shovels, sleeping bag and blankets, and plenty of straps and equipment to rescue. Always hope to only use it on others.

Im not sure Geno.

I drove Nokian Hakkapaleta tires sans studs for 3 winters in my front wheel drive commuter car. 47 miles each way 3 days a week. And a couple days a week over a 12000 foot pass.
Never an issue, though smart driving may have something to do with that....... and the light weight vs a giant SUV or truck is easier to deal with if it starts to slip.
We also dont get that nasty midwest ice very often at all. Its packed snow. Slick but different.

Then got studs and they were a quite a bit better.

I put on a few miles. Usually 30k ish in my personal stuff and another 40-50k in a semi. I’m not really new to driving, anywhere from one coast to the other and one border to the other, and Alaska. Packed snow, even packed to a glare isn’t the same as ice. I owned a ‘85 Chevy dually 2wd for a few years, that one was the worst. My 4x4 excursion was probably the best. But when there is ice and not just a couple slick patches, there is nothing better than studded tires, rookie or vet doesn’t matter. That being said, the best car tires I’ve ever found for winter are Goodyear ultragrip ice. And it they’re on an all wheel drive car, they’re amazing!! On pickups or suv, I’ll take a duratrac for an all around traction type tire. Once you get into semi tires, there is a big difference from an road tire that’s great in the summer and one that’ll work well in the winter. Good traction tires cost fuel economy when your running around at 80,000

With county offices closed today, Miss Lori joined me after lunch for some shooting. Brilliant sun, fresh snow, and we were out of the wind, so it was very comfortable. I could have taken a nap out there. Here she’s snapping in with her 20” RRA.

Went for a quick drive around the neighborhood to check out the roads. Won’t take much new snow with the our relentless wind to plug these. Most schools are running buses on hard surface roads only.

Good to get the wife out? We have a bit of a crazy month or so ahead and Jamie and Buzz will be joining me at a little tournament in early April. I’m hoping we get some breaks in the weather here to get them some trigger time. I’ll go out in the less than decent weather but if the weather is distracting to them then it’s less fun for them.

I will be bring out the 375 and 284 today though! Cool with little breeze is a good day?

I have some 350gr badlands bullets coming also. Once all the brass is formed then I’ll see what she can really do.

It’s not my place. Just a shop that has all kinds of stuff like that. Fittings, tools, machinery, belts gears, motors, you name it. They buy it all from auctions and collect it at their shop. When I’m in the area I stop and grab whatever catches my eye

Went out of town to get some chew and a new case tumbler, stopped at the light, light turn green so I went then stopped because a guy was crossing, looked in my rear view then wam!!! Little dodge sprinter van smacked the back end of my truck. Best part is there was two cops park on the corner, so they seen the whole thing. We exchanged information and drove off, no tickets no bs. Now I have to get my truck fixed.
But I did get a new case tumbler ?

It’s different... it’s hard to change from steering the rifle from the rear to using the joystick to make the fine adjustments. The recoil is a lot sharper also. I seem to shoot well off it though

Knocked out a little die box for the 375 dies. They’re a little too big to fit in a normal die box but I had a cigar box and a chunk of barn bean laying around. It’s snowing and shitty out so puttsing around in the garage is a good way to kill a morning.

We’re about full fellas. Snowed all night with 20 mph winds. It’s amazing what the wind can do with 6-8” of snow. I believe we’re at 50+ inches this year. Next event scheduled for Sunday. I’m going to take the loader and start pushing these back to open us up a bit. We have a fair amount of area to clear and it’s getting kinda old. Plan is to upgrade to a front mount blower on the tractor for next year. The mouth on this blower is 21” high for perspective.

Nice ! Who made the dies ? Do you have the reamer ? 12L14 machines really nice, if'n you wanna make yer own dies.......

This looks like a lot of cold hard work.
We lived in Kansas when I was young and I still remember some tough winters.

Now I live in Texas and have had to mow my lawn once allready.
Did not freeze my but off and can get to the ranges they are deep in mud at the moment.

Eventually that will melt, and a week later you will have to mow.

Damn I like Texas. Lol
