He was also a moderate that learned his lesson. Shortly after Churchill became Prime Minister, he asked Chamberlain to stay on as one of his cabinet members.
About the time of Dunkirk, many of the cabinet members were urging a peace agreement with Hitler.
Chamberlain was one of the few that advised Churchill not to negotiate with Der Fuhrer. After all he got his ass burnt by him and didn’t want to see it happen again.
The moderates of today don’t learn their lessons and like the Marxists think that they are so much smarter than us knuckle dragging slope headed troglodytes.
I think the problem with "moderates" is they don't understand Marxism. Go read about what Marxism is, then you will understand why you can't negotiate with a Marxist.
But too many so called moderates are just Marxists themselves and thinking they're flying under the radar.
Moderate here too but I feel like too much ground has been given to the liberal loons. People on the right of center no matter what need to Unite and stAnd up against this cancel culture and other extremist views. They are doing a better job than we are at voicing their opinions. It is not only that they are better at voicing their opinions, they are also better at building a coalition. Liberals require far fewer purity tests than do conservatives. They will pretty much accept you and your votes, as long as they get your votes. Conservatives, on the other hand, do everything they can to marginalize their natural allies and more moderate members. This has changed a bit recently with how fucking crazy the left has gotten, but up until a couple of years ago, you never saw Dems primarying each other, and you never hear them ridiculing their more moderate voters as ficking DINOs and telling them they have no place in the party.
Conservatives are right on almost every issue there is, but there is no less strategic group known to man. The ostracizing of moderate conservatives is but one data point in a sea of them.
What you have stated is valid.....conservatives have a narrow spectrum of tolerance. However, when you broaden that spectrum, you will slowly devolve to where we are today! Compromise or moderation is simply a slow way to lose your liberties! It's a bad strategy if it creates worse results than would otherwise be attained. That is completely removed from my personal preferences for, basically, all things very conservative. If the strategy is basically acceleration into chaos, I don't think it is very well thought out, and it sure as hell isn't conservative. And yes, I realize this is my main disagreement with the Bear Pit. So be it.
Well, like it or not, and I do not, no matter how great your Constitution, societies are going to look a lot like their social norms over time. That is just the fact. By ostracizing everybody to the left of the furthest right, you lose the fight to determine social norms, and you lose society. You may think that is an excuse for frog boiling, but I'd argue that it is more like a heat tamer. I am no suggesting compromise, I am suggesting that ostracizing natural allies is not a strategy

By the exact same logic and the same token as you keep compromising and cede more and more ground to the left it only goes one way. They take more of your blood and sweat, you get less from them, and they chip away at your liberty till you are no more than their slave.

Republicans would never, ever win another national election, and their power would be reduced by at least 50% in every state. It is literally the end of The Republic, but then when this history is written I believe that we will place the end at the last election, on which there is a mountain of evidence (including surveillance footage) of massive vote counting fraud. Make no mistake, this is their #1 priority, and the most important issue facing them for two sessions running. If they can end the filibuster and actually pass this it's over right then, boom.
I hope you fully join with the enemies of The Republic, and stop pretending to be on the side of sanity, because there is no middle ground. This is going to end in civil war, period. The Democrats have made certain of it; in case you haven't seen the armed camp that DC has become. They are right to be afraid. Once they physically attack the American people they will quickly find that for every soldier who breaks their oath and fires on our people there are a thousand patriots to fire back. They are hopelessly, hilariously outnumbered.

I used to be a Moderate. I was raised by a radical who believed in every part of the Constitution without which our Country ceased. Well, amendments 16, 17, 23 and 24 to start. And before anybody says they are not part of the constitution, the constitution allows for amendment, so they are.
While not being a fan of many of the amendments, I think it is too difficult to amend, which has justified a lot of amendment from the bench. There was probably a middle ground.
I don't think a foreign born person should be prohibited from being President.
I think states should be able to break up more easily, conversely, I think it should be much, much more difficult to add new states.

If this a response to my post, I was being sarcastic. I personally respect all of the US Constitution. My point was when we don't stand and say here is the line, when will we stand? As a nation's citizens collectively we have not stood. Many a Preacher has told their congregation stay out of politics and the Bible isn't all true. One can not claim Belief/faithfulness when any portion of the "faith" can be dismissed. I now voice truth everywhere/when. Yes, also in church, I will not let heresy go uncontested.

Here's the reason "moderates" can suck it. Here we had a gentleman, who by all rights seemed to be doing a decent job; fired, day one and replaced by this. Moderates kept giving an inch, commies took 100 miles, repeat until you have the politics of china/russia which are 1000's of miles from here, but remember....moderates gave an inch (in reality they sold out their principles)..so this is what happens: put on wig , put on a bra with balloon stuffing, some type of jacket/sweater and this is what you get. I agree however there are many people who consider themselves moderate. Only because of non religious beliefs.
I don't think people who are not net taxpayers should get to vote. The ability to vote money to yourself is what has killed this country. The 24th makes that impossible.
