Me and most of the guys in my neighborhood expected to have riots on the night of the 2008 election. Whether Obama won or lost, we expected riots. Same thing in 2012. We had a plan in place. If distribution of "food stamps" and welfare checks or automatic deposits stops because of the government shut down, MANY people in the inner city (and the poorer in rural areas who depend on these benefits) will not have much of what is their common currency with which they would normally buy food, trade for things, or otherwise use to support themselves. If this happens, then I would not be surprised if there was rioting, looting, and generally people taking those things they would normally purchase or trade to acquire.

Sure there are. There are some folks who are legitimately in need of assistance, but what sets them apart is that they are still putting out effort at the utmost and contributing to society. Folks who may be working 10 hour shifts plus overtime stocking shelves or chopping meat at the supermarket for example.
Those people are a far cry from the Free Shit Army who thinks that society owes them and they have a license to loot, burn and kill when they don't get their wants met.
