Anybody know what's up w/ Curtis? They started strong as a company and seemed to have axiom in everyone's hand who wanted them. Partnered up w/ some solid people. Sponsored up some phenomenal PRS shooters. But it seems they lost some steam the past 6 months? They have been out of stock nearly everywhere that stocks them, and the vector was due for delivery in April? Anybody know of their inner workings?

These guys make solid actions and a fairly unique product w/ it's 60 degree throw, etc, but I'm about forced to look elsewhere at this point.

If they're constantly out of stock that means there's more demand than supply, that doesn't sound like a company that's losing steam. Also new products rarely come out on schedule.

Losing steam in the sense of a company's urgency and ability to meet said demand.
It's way too common in our sport, I get it, but wanted to know of any particular insight on why they are unable to meet demand.

Take for example triggertech. These guys come out with their diamond trigger line, and quickly become the de facto standard in PRS nearly overnight. Demand surges, but they continue to meet that demand and cover all their vendors and keep wait times reasonable. I would say that is a model business model, instead of the industry standard 6 month lead time.

It's a lot trickier than you think to investing in new tooling for capacity, especially in a field where the flavor of the month changes so rapidly. I'm not in that business, but betting on something like that must be risky unless the demand is steady for a very long time.

My guess is that they determined their resources were better spent on development and production capacity on the Vector rather than on increasing production of the Axiom. I have a feeling that when the Vector comes out no one will be asking that question, or upset that yesterday's model isn't on the shelves of all the builders.

Not all of us are that way, but the majority of any market is.

The sheer number of Curtis actions I see on the line is evidence enough. Where are the Surgeons? It wasn't that long ago that if you didn't have a surgeon action you weren't shit. Did they suddenly start to suck? No. When did the 1086 come out? What was the last new action they designed?

We are small in number but spend a sheitload of money on this stuff, and it filters down to a huge outdoors market. There is more competition than there has ever been.

We are still here!! Lol.

Long story short... why are we out of stock? We literally can’t produce them fast enough. We have made several changes in our production over the past 5 months that is helping and we are about to turn the corner to be able to keep up. I guess it’s fair to say we underestimated the market...? Either way it’s getting better and things will be back in stock shortly. The vector action itself set us back on axiom production as once again we really didn’t see the storm coming.

Hang in there! Production is ramping up!!! I sincerely appreciate the support the shooting community has shown us!!!

Thanks for replying chase. I really hold your actions in high regard. And I understand production woes, just seemed to go quiet this year, and had 3 different shooters independently mention similar thoughts.

So standing naked in front of the mirror - when do you tell yourself the vector will be shipped? lol

Vectors are starting to ship now. These are the pre ordereds.

I ran one of your actions a week ago for the first time. I own mausingfield, tikka, desert tech, etc etc. After feeling your action, I cant find the appropriate adjective... i just want to say, it feels... expensive?
I've never felt an action before that just feltexpensive! Especially considering the price. I can't explain it better than that, but that bolt throw feels so damn good. I dont pre order but once you get caught up I'll be owning a vector. I hope the bolt lift is as light or lighter and it gets that same amazing "feel".

Do you plan to offer short action receivers with magnum bolt faces? It's currently not an option on the website.

Edit: Never mind, I was looking at the Axiom instead of the Vector. :) Reading is fundamental...

Guys,
Just on a side note. I have dealt with manufactures in the shooting industries (especially on the competition side) for several years. I have personally witnessed very good customer service and extremely poor customer service. The CS you receive from Curtis Customs is top notch and I mean top notch!

I love the the Axiom action I currently have and cant wait to build another bolt gun with the Vector!! (and I am a 3gunner!!) The operation of the three lug design is light and smooth as butter. Curtis Custom has a customer for life. Keep up the excellent work
