Looking to get a 457, which model is the best for the money?
Leaning towards the pro varmint in the black stock since it’s under $600 new… if the actions and barrels are the same, seems to be the better buy over the $1000+ chassis one

I'd rather get the mtr and have it threaded. It's only like $75-100 to have it threaded later but unless you just really want to run a suppressor you don't really need a threaded barrel. Honestly for nrl22 or prs22 I'd rather not run a suppressor.

I may consider it. I’ve seen where people said the chamber was tight enough that some bull ammo is hard to chamber. But I’d probably be ok with cci SV. That is my “bulk” ammo

My only experience is with the chassis/24” sporter weight threaded. The rifle shows great promise in tests out to 400yds.
My only concerns with the different models/barrels would be matching the model to the use. In barricade matches you are essentially running a bolt action in rapid-fire. That requires a certain loosening of match tolerances to enable even greater reliability in function. It’s a knife’s edge balancing act to retain the necessary accuracy level and still have 100% feeding and extraction. I like mine, hopefully I didn’t just get lucky.

get one of each then you decide which you like best or just keep one of all of them it's the only way you will ever get to be a proper gun collecting whore you can do it I believe in you (y)

I guess that would depend largely on your intended use. Still, the actions are all the same on the 457's. Only the stocks and barrels differ. They are also modular enough that swapping either barrel or stock is a simple DIY task should you change your mind later. There are used/takeoff/aftermarket parts everywhere too,
FWIW, I have 6, 457's. (Yea, I like em!) Royal, American, At-One, Varmint thumbhole, Custom Varmint MTR and (my latest) a VPC. All bring something different to the table. All will shoot MOA with good ammo. ( All have factory triggers modified to get me 9-14 oz. ) If I had to pick a personal and current favorite, It would be the VPC . It's adjustability and adaptability is nice. The VPC has been reduced to under $950 on several online vendors right now. Just use gun.finder.com to search your models.

maybe get the cheapest one available, then replace everything on it except the action? Barrel, stock/chassis, trigger… Good news is the 457’s have decent after market support.

Be nice if CZ sold just the action.

I did just that last year . Bought a 17 hmr American synthetic for $389 and then sold off everything but the action. End cost for the action was under $200. End cost for the project was around $1100 ( but admittedly got some smocking Black Friday deals on the barrel and chassis.) It was fun but not really necessary to get a good shooting 457 rifle. Both my factory barreled VPC and At-One will run with this rifle all day long.

I’ll keep researching. Don’t wanna buy a $650+ rifle and have to swap the barrel.
What’s the opinions on the newest t1x against the 457?
You won't unless you start chasing consistent .25" groups which even Vudoo won't guarantee. ( Ask me how I know) . All 6 of my 457's will shoot at/ under 1/2" at 50 with higher end ammo . You just need to take the time to find that premium ammo it likes.

I have shot one, and the factory trigger wasn’t that great to me, and I do not like the bolt throw. I’m spoiled to my tikka t3x’s
I replaced my triggers with Trigger tech Diamond's. If you are spoiled by the T3X get the T1X. I got the T1X first, then got the T3X SS lite in 223. The T1X trigger will go down to 1lb. with just a spring change.
My B14R just edges the T1X for accuracy.

The CZ 457 chassis version and the timney trigger at 10 oz. It likes to eat Vudoos for breakfast. At this level, It is all about the shooter.

I had a Savage B22 precision some 2 years ago. I liked the ergonomics and It was a decent shooter but was prone to failure to feed & extract issues. Mine didn't suffer from the mag shaving issue that many had but I felt the mags were the weak point in the rifle. Savage CS was good about sending me parts but I never got the rifle to run 100%. I'm not sure if the new ones still suffer from these issues or not. Sold it and upgraded to a 457 Varmint MTR. All I can say is research the B22 WELL before putting $ down.

The stock chassis is VERY nice. No way I’d choose a Bravo or another lower end chassis over it.
I've had a 457 in a KRG Bravo, MTD Oryx . XLR Element in the past. I recently purchased a factory 457 VPC and have to say, I like it the most of all of them. That said, if there is one downside to the factory chassis is that it's not conducive to building a 20# PRS rifle with bolt on parts. It's super adaptive but designed as a do all rifle at less than 8#. IMHO. If I wanted a HEAVY build, the Bravo ( as I use on my B14R) would get me there. I don't compete in PRS so my needs may differ.
