Woobies, who has one? LBT

OK, so I couldn't resist and bought a LBT (London Bridge Trading) load out bag and their Poncho Liner Sleeping System was on sale for $27 (Halloween special) so I got one of them too. I have zero experience with "woobies" but wouldn't mind having a light blanket/sleeping bag. After a short google search it seems people are quite fond of poncho liners in general, hence the nickname but I could not find a single review of LBT's liner sleeping system. Is there a reason that the normal price is ~$75? Is their woobie better than average? Anybody have any first hand experience with this LBT product? Thanks for any info.


P.S. I wouldn't mind hearing tips or tricks or just story's about poncho liners.

If you want one you'll really enjoy using check out the Kifaru Woobie and Doobie ("Double Woobie") Pricey...? Absolutely! But by far the best made and most comfortable and effective (read as "warm") that I've found. Everyone I know who has one absolutely swears by it and wishes they'd have discovered it sooner.

Yeah, the kirafu woobie is nice.............and $155. Or 169 for multicam.

For my money the $25 standard military poncho liner is the best piece of gear ever. And it's on ebay all day long.
Sometimes you don't need to throw money at a problem to get a damn nice solution.

Sad but true. I have never owned a woobie. The more I read about woobies the more excited I get about buying one. I can't wait to get it. I hope it's here in time for hunting camp.

I started sucking my thumb when I got attached to my woobie in Assganistan, be careful of that, they'll make fun of you for that at deer camp.

LMAO. I love it!!! It cracks me up how much grown men are attached to a poncho liner. I hope to enjoy mine as much but I never served in the military so I'm sure I will never fully understand. Thanks to all those who have served.

I have a couple of Wiggys, with "Lamilite" insulation, which is great stuff. Also have a traditional cho liner. That old school poncho liner normally stays on the couch these days for watching tv in the cool basement. The heavy duty Wiggys gear stay in packs. Used the Wiggys for the couple of cold months in Iraq. Good gear, worth the price.

There is a tool for every job and after trying many things I felt there was a need in my cache for this. It does so much so well that it's has a home in my I'm never coming back pack. I've got the regular thermal keeping in mind I'm located well within the snow belt.

It's just a Cho liner with a zipper sewn into it so you can zip it together into a sleeping bag. 'Cho liners are God's gift to the Infantryman. I'm sitting here on mine now as I type this. Once you have one you'll wonder how you survived without it and how such as light piece of material can keep you so warm.

Woobie, the first one I was issued I kept and bought a new one to replace it when I had to turn it in. You build a relationship with a woobie due to the amount of time you spend with them. They are light weight, which means they go everywhere with you. I own four of five of them. One Kifru, and the rest are standard issue woodland, ACU, and multi cam. Every trip I've ever taken, and any time I ever stepped into the field, at least one has been with me. No matter which you buy, you will be happy.

I have a Kifaru Woobie, well two of them, my wife hi-jacked the first one and has kept it for herself. Hands down a piece of kit I don't know how I did without for so many years.

I also have a Kifaru Woobie.

I'm not military but I used to use the regular poncho liners. They do not compare to the woobie. The woobie creates warmth. It packs down small easily. It's tough.
I had forgotten how much it had cost until seeing this thread. It was worth every penny.

(If I was to have one complaint- I wish one side was brown. Mine has light green one side, dark green the other. I'm sure if I had of asked Kifaru when I ordered they would have made it green/brown.)

you will probably get it and be like wtf is the big deal about this. they almost seem as though they would be worthless until you're stuck in a hole, overwatch, stand by to stand by or any other myriad of hurry up and wait where its fucking cold....then it is the absolutemusthavebestfuckingthingeverinvented piece of gear.

It might be hard to recreate the love that some of us have for the woobie. That love is from being in a shitty situation and having that to make you feel better. You might be freezing on an overwatch then realize you did stuff your woobie in your ruck before the mission, so you pull it out and you and your buddy crawl under it together. You never actually get warm, but you aren't shaking anymore. Life isn't great, but when measured with a suck meter, you are just above fucking miserable, and that is amazing.

If you just take it out camping, you might think it blows.

Yeah, I definitely get the fact that I may never have the bond that some of you military people have with yours. With that being said, I have used it as a throw blanket while watching TV yesterday and today. I also brought it to bed with me last night. Trust me, it didn't go unnoticed by my wife (LoL) but she was good with it. I am enjoying it at home and think I will love it at deer camp. I am absolutely contenplating (sp?) picking another one up to stuff in my hunting pack since they pack down so small. I can see where it would come in real handy in a survival type situation.

So a guy in my squad convinced the Brits we were working with that our army issued woobies were bulletproof. We happened to be takes IDF at the time, they replied with "you guys always have the best shit" ill never forget that.

I can't speak to the bond mentioned by others, but for my money the woobie stands alone as a cheap, versatile, light, pack-able, durable, and astoundingly warm companion. It just works. That's why I own/use them, but we call them "magic-blanket" at my house.

I went camping in NJ three times this fall with my kids…. temps went into the low 40s at night and the dew levels soaked through anything cotton. My Kifaru Doobie was adequate to keep me WARM without a sleeping bag…. it would probably work down to 30 degrees if you were in top cardio fitness…. I'm 47 and starting to slow down a little.

The standard $20 mil-surp units are great to keep in the car or a duty bag to add 10-15 degrees to your current clothing…. great for watching sporting events (I have kids), sitting on belay while rock climbing, keeping warm in rehab on a fire scene, etc… I have 4 of them.

Well, I'm back from deer camp and I must say that my LBT poncho liner sleeping system worked great. I can't think of anything else that would work better for my needs. My cabin is heated so I didn't need anything overly warm. I just needed something to work as bedding and keep the chill off. I love the fact that it is lightweight and packs into a 4 liter stuff sack. I can't compare it to any other liners since this is the first one I have ever owned. My only complaint is when zipping and unzipping the nylon gets stuck in the zipper. All and all I am happy enough with my purchase that I ordered another one. Yes, I'm still using it around the house and my daughter loves Daddy's "new blanket".
