Just finished a job in KC a few weeks ago... Stayed in Lenexa, worked at the Holley/Sinclair terminal between the Argentine railyard and the Kansas River.
No issues. But we kept to ourselves and stayed in our rooms mostly... Made a couple trips to Scheels and Cabela's and ate a few times at Joe's KC BBQ. Not a bad place to eat, kind of crowded, but it wasn't bad bbq.
Knew a handful of guys that worked on the dairy plant in Garden City a while back. No issues for them either... But they probably kept to themselves and went back to their rooms/trailers after leaving the job.
I can't stand cities though. I don't know how people do it.

I've only lived in a city twice and for a short while and agree.
If I were given the choice of living in a major city like NYC for all my life, or a small caliber entry wound, base of skull, I'd beg for the bullet.

I live in a small town in north Texas (1 stop sign, 4 churches.) But I work in Dallas. During the mostly peaceful protests, I always had and still have my EDC. S&W M&P M2.0 in 9 mm. 17 rd double stack mag, 1 in the pipe, booger picker safety. 2 more loaded mags, 2 more boxes of 50 each in my ruck, AKA, man purse. And in a plain black bag with pouches designed for it, my Windham Weaponry Dissipator M4 A3 in 5.56x45 mm NATO (.223 Rem.) 30 round mag in, 1 in the pipe, safety on. 5 more 30 round mags loaded. Combat zeroed from the factory. Basically a 4" ish MPBR to 300 yards wityh iron sights, which I still use.
Different times in my life picking up bits and pieces of chop sockey. And a few pointers from a friend who was a SEAL.
And where I work in Dallas is the working part of town. You are likely to encounter people wearing work boots. So, most of the protesters did not want to get anywhere near work.
So, I never had to use either. Then, again, I was not looking to find trouble. My use of these would be purely defensive and designed to get me home.
i believe you but don't count on it lasting. look at CO and GA. they are owned by their 2 big puss pockets denver and atlanta. all southern and western states are at the same risk. churchill was FOS. a democray may be the least bad system for awhile,say 100yr +/-. then historically it rapidly becomes the worst mob rule system. the mob is easily manipulated ,repressed but kept ignorant,fat and happy. even the small cities around here have places you don't go in daytime if you're white or even if you're black at night.

I can't think of a single area I wouldn't drive through in KC at night. I'm not going to go hang out in some areas, but to drive through.....pfft! Crime in KC is mostly blacks killing blacks over trivial shit. Probably the worst area in KC is 10th street to 87th street around 71 hwy, and then Independence. 10th to 87th street is where you get shot if you're black and then general crime. Independence is where you get your car or drugs stolen my white crack heads.
Downtown KC is 90% in Missouri and has been completely transformed. It's full of liberals living in lofts and hanging out in the Power and Light district.
I live about 45 minutes east of KC now in the country, but have lived in the suburb towns of KC my entire adult life. I've had more crime since I moved away from the city than I ever did living 15 minutes north of KC. In the last year, my cats have been stolen, hole drilled in my fuel tank, my UTV & trailer stolen, and three weeks ago someone backed into my truck at a restaurant and drove off, doing $8K of damage. Living north of KC for 18 years, I never experienced any crime.

I never thought I would open thread and see people afraid of Garden City, KS. Holy shit. I am there like twice per week. I use to go stay there on the weekends when I was in college. My friend was the youngest and a baby when his family jumped the border. He is probably one of the best people i have ever met. His "fine ass sisters" as our friend called were 6 conservative, and 1 liberal party girl.
There was some excellent food there. One place it was just some old ladies house with some tables in the back room. Another was in a liquor store and you walk in and a bunch of mexicans are cooking in woks. I asked my friend "why they look at me like that?" He laughs and says, they don't like white people in here. We both laugh and eat. I said lets go to the gun shop. He says they don't like Mexicans in there. I laugh and say, "who gives a fuck?"
I got him started shooting. LOL
One of my friends older brothers got tied up with some dudes way over his head. He ended up in a DEA meth bust in Garden City or maybe Syracuse. Years later, I was friends with a guy a college who was busted in the same bust. He must have been a little heavier hitter because he was telling me about the guy who's brother I knew getting busted and how "those guys didn't know what they were getting into." Weird small world.

We used to call it an Oklahoma credit card.....
Native injuns (not trying to be offensive as I have a few friends that are damn fine people) would take an ice pick to someones gas tank and drain it into a pan stealing all the gassies/diesel.

Stealing fuel. Some guy had been going around the county drilling or punching holes in fuel tanks on lifted trucks to steal 3-4 gallons of gas. LE told me the guy had done it to almost 40 vehicles. Some dude in a blue F150. They had him on camera, but I guess not interested in tracking him down. Why do that, when you can write tickets! Not to go one a LE bashing, but I have found through all this, that LE doesn't give a fuck! You might as well take your security cameras and throw them in the trash!
