Re: Wrist Band
I've looked at all the commercially available "arm coach" type products that I could find, using heavy google research and reading opinions from this website and others. I even bought a few, in the hope I could find one that I could make work to meet my needs shooting in tactical match applications. Long story short is that I returned all the ones I bought. I found that even though some of these gear companies hype how their founder is a former Seal, or high speed operator, blah, blah, blah...I found all of their gear fell short in this area.
Here were some of my requirements:
1. Built tough/rugged
2. Quality materials and workmanship
3. Reasonable cost
4. Straps must be somewhat comfortable and also adjustable (needs to fit over various layers of clothing, but also adjust to fit properly over no clothing)
5. No crappy nylon cord straps that can cut into your arm and leave the excess cord flopping around (need to use wider, and adjustable, nylon type straps)
6. Must be able to store a 4x6 index card that is viewable at a glance (no solid cover over top, 3x5 card size seemed adequate at first but I like the 4x6 cards better)
7. Must have a few extra flip type pages under the top page, that can be quickly accessed but securely stowed (provide ability to store additional cards...carry spare cards...make notes for each match stage, COF, round count, etc...good for running stages and good for keeping after action record)
8. A place to store a pen
The only solution I found was to go talk with a company that is local to me who specialize in supplying tactical nylon type gear to various military, DoD, and LEO groups. They have an "arm coach" type product that they are supplying to some military units, and I got them to make a few mods to provide better high speed viewing access at a glance for tactical shooters. It also has several other viewable flip pages that you can stick 4x6 index cards inside of to use for other quick access info (i.e. wind chart, match stage info, etc).
My shooting partner and I each use these custom "arm coaches" and they work great. I still have not seen anything that anyone else is marketing that meets the needs of tactical shooters in this area. I ended up with one extra of these custom "arm coaches", so if anyone is interested send me a PM with your email address and I can send pics and details.
