Then you find a YouTube video of a Guy shooting a mile with a 6.5 . Guess I have some growing to do

When you need a 800in barrel and 6 powder bags equaling 660lbs of powder to launch your 2,700lbs projectile at a MV of 2,500fps

Nahhh.... a 750" bbl would do just fine. You only pick up another 25 fps with the extra 50 inches....

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

nope,i ran the ballistics on bullet flight and it said you would gain an extra 50 fps.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: StanwoodSpartan</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: IanWRX</div><div class="ubbcode-body">When you need a 800in barrel and 6 powder bags equaling 660lbs of powder to launch your 2,700lbs projectile at a MV of 2,500fps

My father in law did this (but its cause he couldnt tell the difference and doesnt have an effing clue)

When you can get in the truck drive to the target and knock a chunk off your wife BEFORE the impact.

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

When NASA accuses you of starting an intergallactic "incident"

When Later can no longer do the math...

The Russians are shooting your bullets down with their missile defense system.

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

When you and your spotter both have no call. You cycle the bolt and then see the impact.

The deck went in on my one-mile tower last weekend. We shot off of it and really enjoyed waiting for the bullet. 3.1 seconds of flight time.

And then realize that light years measure distance not time and think to yourself, "wow, that must mean it is really far"

Awesome LOL!

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

When you have your finger on the trigger of your bolt gun ready to break the second shot because you thought you missed the target when the RO yells hit!

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

When you have time to set the rifle down, pick up binoculars or get behind the spotting scope, and for 1 or 2 seconds you wonder if that API round was a dud before you see the tiny puff of smoke.

edit: When you max out your NXS's elevation, then turn it down to 3.5x, then hold 1.5 "scope views" above the target.

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

your sandwich gets stale before you hear the hit.

you are billed roaming charges

you find your round in a bag of tea

you retrieve your target and can't hear bloomberg whine anymore.

the name of your spotting scope has Hubble on it

you catch capt. kirk trying to hump your silhouette target

your too tired to actually go check / pickup your target.

you post on SH and not get deemed a mall ninja.

bill munden watches your show.

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

You drink 4 beers and have 2 pisses walking to the target.

Find and reload the same projectile twice getting to the target!

You walk past the same tree stump twice on the way to the target.
