ZCO vs TT Turrets

The only way I would let turrets make a decision between two tier 1 or 2 optics is if I like every single thing else about them equally.

We are easily amused by things like turret feel. Which is never a bad thing when they feel good. But it’s literally the part you will be the least engaged in while shooting.

Reticle and eyebox followed by glass clarity are far more important as that’s how you’ll be interacting with the scope mostly.

Well, my question was not answered :ROFLMAO:... jk.

I agree with the TTs not being easy to turn. I read on here about how nice they are to turn and how sturdy? they are I guess. After receiving mine, I can't see how an accidental bump would turn the turrets.

I’ve owned several thetas. And I’ve bumped the windage turret before.

And I’ve known plenty top level shooters who have as well.

If a turret doesn’t lock, it can be moved. Always check.

I own 5 TT 5-25 and 2 ZComp 5-27. TT is still the king and anybody who says ZComp is better is just saying it because of the price difference. TT is pretty much better in ever category besides eyebox below 20 power. TT turrets are better, parallax is better, glass is better, clarity in mirrage is the best on the market, low light clarity is better, tracking is better.

This is definitely not true and you’re being the fanboi you’re claiming zco shooters are.

Unless you can show some actual data points you tested, this is 100% anecdotal and subjective.

Nevermind @Perceptiv

Just checked your posts and realized your pattern. When I get bored I’ll swap over to the mod account and get rid of you.
Things said in the public domain can be used against a person, when does the federal investigation start?

Well, catfights aside... I shot a ZCO this past fall and it is really an outstanding optic. As much as I love my USO's, the ZCO scope was really amazing. Watching Mirage through a 25 power was just some of the best optical clarity and resolution I've ever seen.

I'd gladly own one of those scopes and, in reality, probably will.

Never played with a Tangent. But I will make it a point to do so.

Ok... talk amongst yourselves...

I notice tight eyebox immediately when behind a scope and it feels like a chore trying to get comfortable. All the other nuances seem to take some looking out for besides glass resolution/clarity for me. I probably do not spend a fraction of time behind all my scopes as many on here but shoot a fair amount. Weekly, anyway.

When I get my hoplite rifle and hoplite ammo, you can bet a zco will sit on top!
Rifle. Check
Scope. Check
Ammo. You know loads that stuff, right?

Wonder if you buy both if you getta go on a ban spree when people disagree with you?
Especially over “anecdotal” points.
LDMF right there.

Nevermind the “fags and homo” several posts over the last few weeks. While at the same time completely bashing a site supporting optic company. You know, the ones who’s support makes is possible for this site to exist so you can cry about virtual reality problems?

Go check out his other posts. But, you can concoct whatever conspiracy theories you like.

You guys are the reason most industry guys have stopped posting here.

Would he awesome if Jacob, Lindy, Erik, etc etc still actively posted on forums.

But hey, keep creating your own narrative and build an echo chamber. Your wish is my command. I’ve banned 3 people in the last few months. All for trolling. But, I’ll stop that too.

Carry on with your overly serious online stuff. It super serious and important to make sure there’s drama some sort of way, right?

No DThomas, that's not it.

If you wanna be a mod, be a mod. Not a corporate account threatening people to go get your mod stick.
My $0.02 and worth what you paid for it.

That guy is a douche canoe. That wasnt the discussion.

You were the discussion and you being who you are. It was quickly sorted out when you arrived here.
Its not about your technical prowess, its about who you are.

Thanks for your opinion. It is truly appreciated. And I’m not being sarcastic. I will alleviate the conflict of interest immediately.

I've got a Zco 527 with the I think it's the best scope out there, period! I like the locking turrets and the turrets are very crisp. The glass is as good as it gets! In my opinion you can spend another 1000 bucks for the TT and not gain a thing.

I tried those and the clarity of the plastic lens are horrible, at least the one I purchased. I enjoy both, just tend to use my reading glasses a bit more with the TT
For those that might care, I sent off for the Gen II magnifier and it should prove to be a massive improvement over the first one. While I have not mounted it on the optic yet, a quick pick shows it is much clearer and has way more magnification than the first version. Anyway, just posting this up for those that might have tried the first version and were less than impressed with its function and maybe the Gen II will serve you better.

Getting back to the original turret feel discussion....

It is very subjective and I have not tried the non-locking ZCO turret. I will at SHOT next week.

As I am going through another High End Tactical comparison right now and have/had all of these side-by-side, I figured I can chime in on what my take on these is. Before I do, keep in mind that non-locking turrets are easier to make with a good feel than locking ones.

Also, turrets with fewer clicks per turn allow for wider spacing and, once again, it is easier to get the feel right.

To me, the best turret feel is still Tangent Theta P-series, with the simpler M-series being very close behind but this one has 6mrad per turn, so it is easier to make good.

The best locking turret in terms of feel is probably the one on March 5-42x56 with 10mrad per turn, with S&B's DT II+ and ZCO being close behind. S&B and ZCO do have more clicks per turn and if I had to choose, I'd say I slightly prefer the DT II to the ZCO in terms of click feel.

However, now that I am looking at a bunch of turret designs carefully, I kinda like the locking levers rather than pop up designs. The big question is whether those levers are going to get jammed up when presented with dirty/dusty environments. I did some moderate torture testing with the S&B and March and have not had any issues (it is not hard to find dust and sand in New Mexico...), but in extreme conditions I would think that a turret you need to pop-up to unlock is probably less likely to jam up than the one with the lever. I'll keep beating the lever-locked turrets I have up and see how it goes.

Honorable mention: the Razor Gen3 6-36x56 I have has absolutely exceptional turret feel, but there appears to be some variation based on what people are saying. I'll wait to see how it shakes out and try to get my hands on a few more samples before I make conclusions.

Great post on the topic of turret feel and how locking/non-locking, and clicks per turn, greatly determine the feel.
