Need some help from the South Carolina guys

I'm planning my escape from this communist state of New Jersey. They are about to make the vaccine a requirement at both the wife's and I jobs because of our scumbag governor and that's the last straw.

Where's a good place to live in SC? We have kids and obviously I love shooting so need a good daycare /schools and a good location to make it to shooting matches every weekend mostly USPSA.

I'm going to need a job, right now I have two jobs. I'm a mechanic at a nuclear power plant and I'm a local 13 boilermaker/welder. My dream job would be a welding instructor at a votech because I love passing on knowledge and I'm pretty good with kids.

GA Precision Rifle Expo

I’m back bitches. Been in Cochran past couple months helping a family friend on her soybean/corn/sunflower farm and aint had no internet, and spotty cell service.
Anywho, who all’s going to the expo this year? Look forward to meeting some a y’all down there!

Required accuracy for powder charge

When you are working up a load to find the most accurate powder charge, What accuracy do you require? Also what delta do you use between loads. I use 0.2 grains (ie 40.0, 40.2, ect).

Listed accuracy for many of the digital powder scales is ± 0.1 grains so my powder charge could be as low as 39.96 grains, or as high as 40.04 grains. Is this accurate enough for load development?

Hove two digital scales, a Frankford Arsenal Platinum (± 0.1 grains) and a Gempro 250 (± 0.02 grains).

Both of these I have to what out for temperate drift. I normally leave on for 15-.30 min before use, maybe I should leave on longer.

I also have a 45 year old Beam Balance (Brand name “Texan” – LOL). Time consuming, but I can measure down to the ¼ -> ½ grain.

Liberal ideas are much better than conservative...

problem is they don’t work in the real world.

Forgot who said that, it was older black dude, forgot his name, sawell or something? wish I could find the video.

But it’s true, it’s like how you get 100% green and unlimited electric power
Take a surge protector, and plug it into itself!!!

GREAT idea, if it worked.

Think it’s why children of all ages lean left, the ideas are great and for the better of man, if these students and teachers (see “habitual students”) actually had life experience in the real world, they’d know that these ideas simply don’t work as advertised in the real world.

Random thought

COVID & pneumonia got me.

Well never thought it would happen to me. Got it 9 days ago at work and couldn’t stand it anymore. Drove in from Hobbs NM to Texas. Got the nasal and cheek swabs and both positive.

Was asked if I wanted the vaccine and told them hell no..

Was in the hospital 27 hours and had several bags of liquids and breathing treatments. At home now recouping. Usually I can push through any illness and stay moving around this was kicking my ass…

Prefit Barrel Won't Screw onto Action

I (finally) got my bighorn origin yesterday and to my dismay, I can't for the life of me screw the barrel on. I can start threading it on but about 1/12 of a turn in it just stops hard, almost like it's crossthreaded but yet not and my action is perfectly straight inline with my barrel. The Origin is supposed to take 1.055" x 20tpi threads and to the best of my measurements my barrel is exactly that. I did grease the threads and even went so far as removing the rail off the action but that didn't change anything. I'm just stuck. Is there something I could be doing wrong or something I should try doing, or do I need to contact preferred barrel blanks about it or take it to a gunsmith to try and sort out?

Mexico sues several weapons manufacturers in U.S. court - Reuters

04-Aug-2021 10:36:24 AM

Mexico City, Aug 4 (Reuters) - The Mexican government on Wednesday presented a civil lawsuit against several weapons manufacturers in a U.S. court, alleging negligent business practices that caused damage in Mexico, according foreign ministry document seen by Reuters.
The lawsuit alleges that units of Smith & Wesson; Barrett Firearms; Colt's Manufacturing Company; Glock Inc; Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc and others knew their business practices generated illegal arms trafficking in Mexico, the document said.
Mexico is seeking compensation for damages caused by the allegedly negligent practices, the document said.

I never win anything and I won a Glock 20!

Things may be looking up! I bought a $20 raffle ticket from my friend's daughter. She was selling them, to support her husband's softball team. I got a phone call from the local Moose telling me I'd won a Glock 20. First I thought it was another one of those scam calls but it was actually a live person. I couldn't remember buying any raffle tickets, especially from a Moose lodge. I don't think I'd ever stepped foot in one but it turned out to be legit. I won a Glock 20, 10mm. I went down to the Moose and they handed me a Cabelas gift certificate for $579.99. I called Cabelas and shockingly they have one in stock and I can have that or $579.99 toward anything else.

I don't own any Glocks. I've never really been interested in Glocks but the 10mm is kinda cool. I'm now trying to figure out what I might apply the Gift card toward instead or keep the Glock 20. People are buying Glock 20's on Gunbroker for upwards of $900.00. I don't want to be part of the problem and list it on Gunbroker. I was surprised, but Cabelas has a fair amount of inventory on hand. They even had an H&K Mk 23 but that was at a nosebleed high of $2,300.00.

Rifle Scopes Clash of the high-end LPVO's: Stretching to longer distance...

Which high end LPVO for stretching out to 800yds with 5.56?

  • Razor Gen III 1-10

  • Steiner M8Xi 1-8

  • NF ATACR 1-8

  • NF NX8 1-8

  • S&B SD CC 1-8

  • Other LPVO

  • Or am I barking up the worng tree and just need a light MPVO?

  • Should I just wait for a ZCO LPVO? ;-)

Yes, I'm going to beat this topic to death.

What top end scope would you choose for 60% standard close AR stuff, but then 40% of the time reaching from 300m-800m?
Used for DMR/long range tactical comps.
Eye relief and eye box are important. We're talking odd shooting positions.
It will probably be paired with an offset RD.

All of my dope is in mils so the reticle should be a mil reticle capable of elevation holds to about 10 mils.

My thoughts:
Please correct and/or advise:
I can get a stupid good deal on the M8Xi; is that one worth the weight? I like the clean but usable DMR reticle in it and all other Steiners I've used have had excellent eye box and eye relief.
Everyone rides the Razor train. To me it seems like it sacrifices a good bit to have a 10x variable. Top end distortion, FOV, etc...? The MRAD reticle is nice though.
Haven't gotten behind either of the NF LPVO's in the field. My previous experiences with other NF's push me into being very hesitant about the eye relief and eye box.
March's lacking eye relief and eye box scare me away.

I've owned/used Vortex PST 1-4/1-6, Steiner P4Xi 1-4, Razor II 1-6, PA 1-6/1-8, SWFA 1-6, & Valdada 1-8. None of which have good enough reticles and/or magnification to run confidently past 500m.

Am I reaching beyond the philosophy of use for a LPVO?

Which one to upgrade to on my go to DMR 5.56 AR?

Scope manufacturing ideas and an NDA?

There is a hole in the market for the hunting scope that is user friendly for zeroing and making precise holds. I've got a list of ideas. I have never sought out the process of an NDA (I'm sure a lawyer is involved). I also do not know where to begin petitioning optics manufacturers inquiring if they will listen to me.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I don't recall asking you....
