Need help putting together 22LR AR15

So I've been building my hunting and precision ARs for a long time, but have never messed around with rimfire outside of a 10/22. I want to put together a high end 22LR AR trainer/varminter for use with a sparrow suppressor, with the priority being precision.

I really don't know enough to even start gathering the goods. Does everything go together like a typical ar15 if I want to use a typical ar15 upper and lower? Is the only difference the 22LR bolt adapter and magazines? Is the gas block ultimately the same? I assume there is no buffer system and the buffer tube is there only to support the stock.

In terms of components: What is a the most accurate high-end barrel/adapter combo? If I do a certain combo, am I limited to certain mags? I want to go 16", but am open to being called stupid for that decision. I have a decent amount of quality AR parts to use, so I'd rather not buy a complete upper when I can roll one up myself, but you may also advise against that since I am a rimfire novice.

Thanks in advance

SOLD Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 - post factory Mil-Spec marked SOLD

Selling an early manufacture Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50. In line with early military issue, mil-spec NXS's of the same model, this scope features an illuminated Second Focal Plane Mil-Dot reticle paired with 10 MOA turrets. I had the bottom of the housing engraved in the exact location, size and type as other, actual Mil-Spec marked units that feature the exact same specs as this scope (mil-dot reticle, 10 moa turrets, etc). If I didn't disclose this was not an actual Mil-Spec marked scope, you'd never know (other than a s/n lookup). Ball on a budget, cure your clone-autism and snag this "mil-spec" Nightforce at a fraction of the cost of an actual one. The scope is in fantastic condition and comes as shown.

GM210 primer issues

I was trying some new handloads out the other day and out of around 25 rounds fired, I had these two duds that happened. Both rounds were rechambered after the initial misfire and I attempted to fire them again with no luck. All of the rounds fired would have been loaded in the same session and used Federal GM210M. I haven't had this issue with any other rounds fired in this rifle so where would I start looking to pin down the "why" of where my issue lies?

October 2024 Topstraps Rimfire Challenge Timed Match Notice

Well, Fall is finally here and this will be the last Topstraps Rimfire Challenge matche of the year. This is the match I wait for all year, it's by far the most fun to run and watch everyone compete in. Some competitors get a bit intimidated by it since there is a time limit but quite a few of us have shot Single shots and easily finished. This is a Unique Rimfire Match that combines accuracy, precision, smoothness of reloading your magazine and making the changes needed to hit targets at varying distances from 25 yards to 197 yards with a timer counting down.

A shooter may re-enter but will have to get back in line to shoot the second time. As always, no Benchrest type equipment meaning no benchrest style front or rear rests. Bipods/Bags on front and bags or a monopod on the rear. I do allow adjustable bipods such as a Rempel for the front. The competitor when reloading their magazine has to hold it in their hands and not have it contacting anything to help feed rounds into it, if a competitor has trouble loading their magazine they can hand it off to someone else who can reload it and hald it back due to physical difficulties. NO devices to help load a magazine can be used. Any rifle and scope can be used and there will still be the 3 classes of ammo so there will still be a free entry for a future match given to the winner of each class. Just so you know every year the winner of this match has used a "B" class ammo.

For the timed match competitors can use any 22 longrifle rifle/pistol including a Single shot, Semi-auto, Toggle, Pump, Lever Gun or Falling Block but will be limited to one (1) 10 round max magazine of no more than 10 rounds at any one time in the gun. There will be 75 targets to hit from 25 yards out thru 197 yards and you will be given 20 minutes to do the best you can. You will not be shooting the smaller targets on some of my racks, targets will be some of my larger ones to keep things moving and not have a shooter get hung up on a really small hard to hit target. Some stages will have their own rack for the timed event but will be easily identifiable.

Shooters for the timed event will dump 100 rounds in a bowl (has to be in the bowl and witnessed), at the buzzer they can load their magazine or start shooting if using a single shot. Starting at 25 yards and always shooting left to right you work your way out thru the racks. I will only call out a miss and not an impact. I'm not spotting for any misses or hits on targets other than for score, up to you to see your own shots unless you get totally lost and I'll help you back onto a target. If I don't say anything keep shooting. I will give each shooter a paper with all rack numbers and distances on it so your data can be entered before it's your turn to start. I will tell you that you can progress to the next distance but it is up to the shooter to keep track of which rack/distance and target they are shooting. If you get lost/confused I may help with rack number but not every one. Up to the shooter to keep track of where they are.

A competitor can take sighters on a larger square plate at any distance and time they feel it's beneficial but those shots come out of their 100 rounds. The final score is calculated based on targets hit, rounds left over (if any) and also the time used to complete the match. So, you need to be accurate but shoot quickly to get as many hits as possible to get a good time or even finish the course. When the 20 minutes are done so are you, all part of the challenge.

The first time I ran this match an old Win 52-C with a 5 round magazine won with two Single Shot shooters coming in a close 2nd and 3rd. We came up with a calculation that when we tried every variable possible it always worked out the most accurate shooter with the most hits, most rounds left over and lowest time won. Was a lot of fun and a lot of different strategies that shooters tried to place higher up, some worked and some didn't but it made for letting the spectactors being entertained. I will only run one competitor at a time but it'll go faster than a regular match and gives for good entertainment while watching the others shoot knowing the timer is on them.

I still have the scores from the last time I ran this match. There a $100 bounty on the head of the current Kings Record score from a couple years ago. Maybe this will entice those speedy, deady accurate PRS/NRL competitors to come show off their talent and dethrone the current King. The top score was witnessed by at least two other competitors with one being Derrick Warren, no one practiced on the range before the timed match or knew exactly what the targets were except me. This match will have the exact same racks as the previous Timed Match to keep everything fair to qualify for the Bounty. Winning the match doesn't win the $100 bounty but setting a new all time Record Score will.

It will be Friday (11th), Saturday (12th) and Sunday (13th) of October. Starting around 8:00 or maybe a tad earlier if it's light enough. I know there are a lot of other shoots that weekend but the weather looks good so far and hope to see a few of you show up to try it out.

Address for GPS is 43985 S. 70 Rd, Belmont, OH It's right off I-70 about 30 miles East of Cambridge or 15 West of Wheeling.

Calculation used for score.
