Rifle Scopes Vertical adjustment after zeroing

Hi Folks,

I have a Vortex LHT 4.5-22x50 scope that I mounted on a 30-06 rifle built on a Defiance action. I used Two piece Picatinny Bases and 1.2" high rings (there is no inclination in the rings or bases). I zeroed the rifle at 100 yards with Sako 150 grain Super Hammerhead ammo.

My elevation is set at 9 MRAD (3 MRAD on the second revolution of the turret) and I only have 2 MRAD of upwards elevation adjustment left. The scope has a totol of 22 Mils of elevation adjustment. The zero stop came installed on my scope, hence why I have only 11 Mils of total elevation adjustment available.

I'd like to confirm with the more knowledagble people on the forum that the above seems kosher?

I might look for two peice 20 moa bases just to have more elevation availble.

Thanks!

Optics Gen 3 Razor HD 6-36 EBR-7D w/ Spuhr 4001C

The scope is like new condition, comes with Spuhr 4001C, Accuracy 1st level, IDTS ballistic tape. Plus all the goodies that come in the box $2500 TYD

Novice Scope Recommendations

Hello there fine folks,
i'm just now approaching this field, and i'm nowhere near as informed as i need to be to make an educated purchase, even though i've been trying to study online quite a bit.
The rifle i'm about to buy is probably gonna be either a CZ 457 Varmint or a Tikka T1X MRT (me being unfamiliar with this field makes me think those are probably cheap toys to many of you but hey, i'm just starting :p).
Problem is... The scope. There are so many and so many specs that i'm going crazy, but based on the info i've gathered, i think what i'm looking for would be something like a 3-9x40 at the very least (even though the one i'm currently keeping an eye on is the Vector Optics Orion Pro Max 6-24X50 FFP SCFF-44), adjustable parallax, a mil-dot reticle and definitely FFP.
I'm probably (definitely) missing a bunch of others specs, (like i don't know how important an illuminated reticle would be, and so on) but... thoughts?
As for my budget, i'd try to stay around/not exceed 250$/€ (i'm from Europe, so something available there). My goal at the moment is learning and practice shooting at the range and that's it. I have a low to medium shooting experience and a low long range shooting experience.
Thanks in advance to anybody willing to share their wisdom with me!

SOLD Price drop! GAP Tempest Barreled action, 6 cm,20” Xcaliber

Price drop, again. There will be no more drops.

This has been a safe queen since I bought it new in 2017, and I've finally decided to sell it, it just never gets used.

Specs:
-GA Precision Tempest, nitrided. These are $1400 new today.
-20” Xcaliber barrel, 8 twist, chambered in 6m CM(.163 freebore). Contour is similar to rem varmint/med. palma and the muzzle measures .875
-Round count 381
-Area 419 Universal adapter
-comes with three trigger hangers to tune it with your trigger. Purchased from GA.
-Coated in Cerakote Elite Blackout and OD green(exterior of receiver only, bolt not coated)
-Barreled action and trigger hangers only, nothing else in the pics for sale.
-I have a new TT Diamond flat for sale if interested. I installed it to test for this ad only.

-This action has NEVER suffered from light primer strikes or any other issues.
-there are a few nicks on the bolt knob from sitting in the safe for years.
-I dont know if this will chamber factory ammo, i’ve never tried. For handloads, this freebore works well.
-the throat is in very good shape. i’ll post a vid when I get a chance.

If you're looking for an AI, but dont want an AI stock, this is your receiver. Feeds flawlessly from AW mags. I loaded up some 105 bergers to test for this ad. Zero load developement, and shoots great, see below.

PM me if interested. NO TRADES PLEASE.

SOLD Sig Sauer SSG 3000 (308) SOLD

The SSG3000 rifles have a quick barrel-change mechanism and long magazines. They can accommodate 30-06/6.5x55 class of cartridges. The 23.5" factory 308 barrels are known for their accuracy and long barrel life (made from tough German Krupp steel). The scope is a Leupold Mk4 LR 6.5-20 (2nd focal). The exposed surfaces from the camouflage paint look excellent (no wear). I don't know the round count on the barrel. Bipod/scope included.

Muzzle Break Issue

I have a Savage 110BA 338 Lapua, that I have had for about 15 years.
I recently took it in to a gunsmith to have the muzzle break taken off for the first time.
It was too tight for me to remove.

After I got it back I wanted to reinstall the muzzle break and do some shooting.

When I went to reinstall it I could not get it on to where it was before, there was about a 1/4 inch of thread still remaining.

I'm thinking there may have been loctite on the threads of the barrel when I bought it new, and after all these years it is so gunked up that the muzzle break won't go on all the way without some wrenching.

2 Questions:

1. What is the best way to clean off the threads on the barrel and on the inside of the muzzle break to remove the loctite or other substance ?
2. Does the muzzle break have to be in the original position (screwed all the way in) and aligned in a specific way, for the the rifle to shoot accurately ?

Thanks

16” .308 vs 16” 6.5CM Duel out to 1250yds

This is one of the few younger gun tubers that is worth watching.

Anything he talks about, he explores with actual field-testing to answer questions he had before filming.

In this one, he takes 2x 16” SR-25s out to 560, 630, 830, and 1250yds sequentially for a legit side-by-side real-world comparison.

He’s shooting 169gr SMKs in the .308 Win, and 144gr Hybrids in the 6.5CM.

He has about $13,600 wrapped up in one blaster, and probably $21,000 in the other with the Wilcox RAPTAR, not including the tripod, mags, or ammo.

SOLD 13rd extended AW magazines

What’s for sale?

These magazines are modified factory AI AW magazines adapted to use the Area 419 extension to safely fit 13 rounds - you’ll notice that unlike some other designs the bottom of the mag is now level rather than angled. 14 rounds can be stuffed into the magazine and still function, but is harsher on the spring and geometry looks to be less ideal.

These were made for me by another member; the process involves irrevocably modifying the factory magazine body so these must be used as seen there is no going back. Tested to feed with .308 Win and 6.5 CM, profiled to fit MDT’s ACC Elite chassis and M5 Precision DBM. Fed in my Coup de Grace without issue, buttery smooth. All have been tested for function, though clearly one has a few more cycles on it. Can’t guarantee they work with shorter rounds or other chassis/DBM models due to latch design etc.

What it cost?

$160 per mag plus shipping of your choice and speed. Electronic no-fee payment accepted (Zelle preferred), USPS money orders, bank check or wire, personal checks too (shipping held).

Georgia, Good Matches for Beginners

I live roughly an hour south of Atlanta. There are no long range shooting ranges around here.

I have not shot in over a year, and I wanted to start shooting again.

I looked at the match I had shot previously, back in 2023, the River Bend Gun Club Precision Rifle Match, which is normally once a month, and it is not being held in October. I went to the PRS web site and clicked on the southeast region, and, well, nothing for the remainder of 2024 and only one rimfire posted for 2025 (I do not yet have a rimfire precision rifle).

Are there so few matches, or am I not looking in the right places?

Feel free to point out that I am stupid - I admit that I may not be looking in the right places.

It does not have to be PRS sanctioned. In fact, the River Bend Gun Club Precision Rifle Match was not a PRS event.

I am terrible at this sport, but I still really enjoyed the four competitions in which I shot at River Bend. They were very welcoming to new shooters and tried to help me improve (and I did improve little by little each time). I want to get back at it.
