Didn't see an intro section so I just wanted to introduce myself.

I'm a frequent member on savageshooters and I've always referred to this site for any other help/questions.

I'm 18 and I started reloading about three months ago. Started with an old 110 pawn ship rescue in .270, changed to .223, then bought a new rifle shown below in .308. Gotta love savages, haha.

It's a savage 10 FCP K with a Viper 6-20x44 on top.

I'm getting a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel in from Jim at NSS next week so that will be going on soon.

I guess for a question, what bullet weight(s) usually work? What weight(s) don't?

I've only used them once or twice, they shot fine. Reason everyone goes with the 139-142 gr weight class is because they have the highest BC's so they are more slippery. But if you want to stay with the lighter bullets I would recommend the 123 gr (Lapua or hornady) since again, they have higher BC's than any of the 120's. Hope this helped

I've always had very good luck with Sierra's in .223 and .308.

Same with 6.5's?

I haven't personally used any Sierra's in 6.5 but like you have had good results in other calibers. I haven't heard of anyone having issues with them in 6.5, except the 142 SMK has a longer bearing surface than the other 140's so you might see pressure signs earlier with that bullet.

Alright thanks.

You'll find most lean toward the hornady amax bullets for the 6.5 calibers. They are tack drivers and just so happen to be very well priced. The 139 scenars are also a nice round. The Berger hybrids have the highest bc of all of them but are also pricy and tend to be so long at accurate charges/seating depths that you can't feed them from a magazine.
I'm planning to get a barrel from Jim as well in probably 243, 6.5cm, or 260 in a heavy sporter or light varmint contour to turn my fcp into a hunting rifle.
Welcome to the site...
