Gentlemen, I have a Lyman Super Targetspot Scope atop a pristine Model 52 that needs help. The crosshairs are faded and need replaced. This rifle is my Grandfather's old competition rifle and I would love to have it repaired. Anyone have any recommendations for a good place to send it? This rifle means a lot to Grandpa, and I don't know as I would trust just anyone. Thanks guys.

A good place to begin soliciting information is from Lyman's recommendation which is as follows (from their website):

A: Lyman has not manufactured scopes for quite some time. We have sold the last of our parts and fixtures to a company in Ohio, who is currently making repairs to the scopes. We would recommend you contact them directly at: Parsons Scope Service 2213 Smith Road PO Box 192 Ross, OH 45061 513-867-0820 [email protected]

I know nothing about them, their reputation or capabilities but perhaps someone else here does. Good Luck..

my father recently sent a unertl target scope and an old redfield scope to that place in Ohio and he is happy with what they did. Those old lyman and unertl scopes sure are different compared to the stuff we use now. The Unertl scope has a spring, and slides within the mounts each time the rifle is fired to deal with recoil. hard to imagine it can really get back to the same zero each time it slides around, but who am I to argue? old rifles are just as much fun as new rifles (winchester 52, remington 40x, winchester 94 lever actions). My father has an old springfield 30-06 relic with iron sights that he can shoot the heck out of!!
