Yeah, that's usually when I stock up on other stuff as well like this:

I can promise if you don't get it now you will kick yourself later. I have multiple contacts in the reloading supply world and they are all forecasting very high prices due to nitrocellulose going to the wars and plants closing down, at least temporarily.

Nitrocellulose is a celluloid plastic that is combined occasionally with nitroglycerin and other elements such as graphite to produce powder. All powder uses it. The mfg process is technical, and often hazardous, but not overly complicated.

Now...

Think about how much nitrocellulose is used in just one 155mm arty shell.

Russia is making over 2000 a day and burning most if not all of those in combat per day.

The US is making just over 1000 per day and we can't make enough to keep up with Ukraine's demand.

We are just talking 155mm arty shells here, not any other munition.

Lapua is sending ammo to the Ukies.

Basically every country that we source powder from is selling to Ukraine, Israel, or both.

S&B's parent company is sending so much ammo to Ukraine they can't make enough and are having to find and buy externally sourced powder for the arty shells they are making

Then take into account the Israel war and how much ordnance is being expended there.

I talked to a guy at Alliant last week and he told me that they have 2 sources for Nitrocellulose. One is closing for at least a year. I asked why and he said he didn't know.

Another gentleman in the industry told me that he is seeing the ammo companies start to burn through their powder reserves and they generally are expecting to have no reserve left by the beginning of fall. Ammo prices will go up noticeably before Thanksgiving at the latest.

I'm telling you all right now, and mark my words, powder is going to be next year's version of what primers were last year.

Don't panic buy, but if you want to have something and it's available, buy it as you are able.

Powdervalley has had h4350 for a few days now for sub $400.

You also get free shipping if you spend over $400 but you have to use a code and I already forgot it. You can Google it and find it. That's how I did it.

what I find 'interesting'.
How many 155 shells a day did we make in WW2? yet, we have plants closing down.
Intentional price rise, through intentional plant closures. The Gov could step in and have another plant built to increase capacity, but then a politician's hand won't get greased.
Don't forget to shop Brunos

It’s comical when gun guys complain about the government interfering with shit all the time and then there’s an ammunition shortage and suddenly they want the government to step in

Whatever happened to letting free market do its thing?

:)
free market can't do it's thing, when 99% of free market requires some sort of Gov permission to do it.
building permits, ammo permits, etc..
the excess regulation. It would be nice if Federal would give those 2 or 4 people a raise who make GM215 .. Always out. Give them an incentive to make a enough to meet demand.

What? Were you expecting good faith arguments and logical consistency from hyper partisan people on a gun forum? :ROFLMAO:

American Reloading has USA made white label small pistol primers 5000ct for $249 nato spec

They say they are seconds but also so they are perfect and 100% within nato spec due to their hard cup..

I grabbed 5000ct to throw in the 1050 for MP5 shooting

Alliant’s prices are out of control absurd. I want to try several of their powders, but won’t bother unless they approach reasonable prices again. I don’t want to find a powder/load my guns love and not be able to find or afford it. 🤷‍♂️
VV is where it's at now. They are super high quality powders and from what I hear, they have decent consistency from one lot to a different one.

Lucky me, I’ve stumbled upon decent deals in several VV powders, including N133, N135, and N540. Most of my shooting for the foreseeable future will be in various loadings of .223, so I’m in a decent spot. Always looking to add more when I can though lol.

Weren't you planning on getting into grendel sometime?

The n133 should work great for it. Have you had a chance to test any of your VV powders yet in anything?

Yep! Still have it and still grabbing brass and projectiles for it when I can as well lol. I’ve heard the N133 should be a decent fit for it, which is part of why I picked up the N133 in the first place. But I’ll probably shoot .223 at a 5:1 ratio compared to the 6.5G for a few different reasons. But it’s not going anywhere.

But no, life’s been a shitshow for us for the past ~9 months or so, and we just moved as part of that so I’ve been acquiring when the deal’s too good to pass up but haven’t been in a position to load anything as of yet. Hoping to be soon, but a big part of the craziness has been my wife’s health so that takes top priority.
