If it makes anyone feel better, I ordered a Warner tool company sizing dye in August or September of last year. It’s been so damn long. I don’t even remember exactly.
But it was supposed to be finished by February and Dan Warner just called me for payment today

I'd be really curious to hear your results in the reloading section once you use it and start seeing the impact on your precision.

Haha I didn’t even ask. I just gave him my CC info. I’m guessing about $1000 with one bushing. My 50 cal die from them was something like $2400 with 4 bushings ($150 EACH!) and the seating stem combo. Yes you read that correctly. But it is a work of art. The tolerances are amazing.

That is the advertised base cost estimate, the actual cost can be higher and you have to work with WTC to find out. That's why I asked.

But that’s actually a ruse. Those reloads were made with RCBS dies.
The main advantage of the WTC is brass life (they’re made based off measurements of your fired brass) and with RWS 50 BMG cases going for $6 each I thought it was a good idea

I guess I will comment on the custom sizing die. I love impressive machining, but wouldn't a die made with your fired brass only be good for that single barrel? So when you spun up a new barrel for that rifle you would be back to square one? Am I missing something?
Some custom gunsmiths will offer a sizing die cut with the same reamer used to chamber the barrel. Not so common anymore.
Anyway, hope the IP system ships soon. I love my IP trickler.

Depends. If you have your own reamer, and have the same known-good person chamber your barrels, then that fired brass is going to be 'close enough' so as to not really matter.
Think about it: the dies has to make the brass *smaller* in any number of dimensions than the chamber it's supposed to go into. How exactly to you propose that works with using the *same* reamer for both the barrel and the die? It doesn't - with possibly the exception of maybe neck-only sizing dies that use bushings. But that practice has kind of gone by the way-side, even with the BR crowd.
Exactly right. The die was made by a bench rest smith of some repute, Jim Borden. It was done when the rifle was made. The chamber required neck turning.
The rifle was a walking varmint rifle in 6BR. At least 20 years back. It was a product of its day. One of the most accurate rifles I has ever owned though. A hunting rifle made to bench rest standards. Yes it was from the neck size era.
Also guess the twist rate? Not a modern 6BR this was a benchrest focus. 1-14 twist. It only shoots 65gr. This twist was popular for benchrest at the time. If I did my part it was a one hole rifle. My first great trigger a Jewell.

You either buy/use your own/same reamer; or you have a new insert made for your existing WTC sizing die. It’s a modular system.

Well, I do feel like a sucker now that I see a charge to my CC for $1406.46 for ONE SIZING DIE and ONE bushing.
It's to the point where it's almost impossible to justify it other than blowing $ for the sake of blowing $
I hope Paul doesn't get into a competition with WTC for the highest prices and longest lead times
There are far less expensive ways to have custom dies made. Your barrel maker can cut die blanks when they cut your barrel. $1400 for a sizing die should require an acknowledgement the buyer understands the price won't match the deliverable. Warner's reputation takes a massive hit any time this is discussed.
So a die listed at 600-700 ends up being 1400????? That bushing must cost as much as the die.

The good news is this makes the IP system look inexpensive. Kidding aside if the whole IP system works as well as the IP trickler alone it will be a good value.
Presumably Warner will make it correctly the first time?
