I guess that it is a stretch of the imagination that a very expensive country club that charges fairly well for a round of golf doesn't have pest control. All those grounds keepers and none of them willing to drive a cart around spraying for bugs. I'm sure those wealthy enough to play that course wouldn't complain about being eaten alive by chiggers and mosquitoes.

I think canada is restricting bolt action stuff simply because it's a gun and it shoots bullets. Once they take all the scary military looking stuff, they'll brand the hunting rifles as sniper rifles and take those too. Then they take the black powder stuff because after all, Shinzo Abe of Japan was killed by some shop project muzzleloader and it's better to be safe than sorry.

I was thinking sniper rifles would get attention after the dc sniper but everyone got tunnel vision on the AR-15.

So, even if people know Trump was in town (I don't know if that was announced, so, I don't know how this guy Routh could know to be there and wait for 12 hours,) how could this guy know?

Does he have a police scanner and understand coded communication to determine that local LE are being geared up to assist SS? I mean, if he did, that gives some credence to the homegrown looney tunes. How does he understand cops and deputies speaking in obscure terms, if they are even talking over the radio? Would most of this be better by cell phones?

I cannot imagine him just living there in the bushes for a year and just now gets lucky, as it were.

We like conspiracy theories, whether true, or not, because they give us a sense of order in the world. That things are just not that random. Again, thinking of John Hinkley, Jr., now released from monitored release, once again a free citizen (and writer!!!) would have certainly been Jack Ruby'd if he were part of a plan. Although, of course, it could be 4D chess to let someone say what they will and let them paint themselves as crazy, like John Lear did with the lizard people thing.

I figured out why I sometimes think that events like this are set up. Not that it was but easy to think that it could have been.

I made the absolutely horrible mistake of reading two different books on the Secret Service presidential detail. Everything from the fact that their standard issue for a long time was Sig Sauer handguns.

The special school that the driver of the Beast (presidential limousine) goes through. How to handle such a big engine and a fully armored vehicle. Most of us spend all of our lives avoiding collisions. The Beast driver has to be able to drive through obstructions because the job is to evade and escape.

The advance teams that arrive before a visit. The setting up of sniper hides at each point in the route of a president's appearance.

And this most importantly, I think. Keeping up with the crazies that want to do something. Granted, Trump is not president anymore but he still has some secret service detail. That is, the SS may not do the actual investigation but they can follow up on leads given to them by other intelligence agencies. For example, the FBI.

True, it may be that now the SS is more like Keystone Kops.
