Port strike coming… not going to be good!

The Wikipedia article cited says the sale to China was halted, Rush Linbaugh among others lobbied heavily. Sold to a South Korean company and now owned an very large Italian shipping company.
Yea but Wiki......
While they are good for generalist type info, being user maintained and supplied info, it can be sketchy at best for perfect accuracy of that data.

As I stated, I don't know the details of who owns it, or if it's hidden behind a long string of "this company bought it, but is controlled by this company, that is held by this or that government...." and so on and so forth.
I honestly would not be surprised if it is owned outright by China....or Russia....or North Korea.

40 years ago or so it was a reasonably trafficked side of town with clean streets, nicely maintained sidewalks and grassways....etc etc.
Not so much these days, it's like a forgotten ghost town, no traffic, trash strewn about, packs of wild dogs (I shit you not) and other things that make you immediately think you just entered a 3rd world ghetto.

I have a bud that owns a commercial fishing trawler (used as a personal boat) that is docked very close to that area so I know it well.
If you ever get a chance to use a big ass trawler as a fishing boat for fun, I highly recommend it.....2000 gallons fuel, auto pilot, radar/gps/fish finders from hell, full galley and head, sleeping for at least 10....it's a blast.

Is the strike ended or is that just more BS propaganda by the Left to do damage control 30 days before the election?

They have been known to lie you know.

No they don't. IlA workers have already explained how many do not even survive the first 2 years becuase most can't afford to only work 30 hours a month while damn near living at the union hall waiting for work. And if they can't get 700 hours a year they lose their benefits and can be kicked out of the union. Starting pay is $20/hr. $20x30 is 1200 a month, before taxes. Try living on that. Alot of them quit for more steady work.

What you are talking about is if they get dispatched to a ship coming in. And that is probally correct but it also NEVER happens. All kinds of financial penalties are put into these types of CBAs to prevent bad actors from going against the intent of the CBA. They are designed to discourage that from happening.

You guys should really stop talking about shit you do not begin to understand. Just perpetuating more bullshit.

Season 2 of the wire actually covered the longshoreman lifestyle pretty well. It was filmed at the port of Baltimore with actual stevadoors ( ILA).

That's a very good argument FOR automation if I've ever heard one.
Congratulations 👏

It's not that mysterious, you just have to look it up. LB shipyard is owned by TTI, which is owned mostly by Mediterranean Shipping Company with a minority interest from Hyundai Merchant Marine. MSC is an Italian company owned by a Italian billionaire. HMM is owned by Korean state banks.

Sorry the BRICS failed to control the port.

It has been ended until January. You know after the election :). Gotta see who wins to see how it ends.
