Rifle Scopes Official Zero Compromise Optic News & Updates

I already have one and like it. I was just wondering if there was an option out there to take the FOV governor off it and use it as it was designed and as the listed specs say.
No, you were whining about your pet peeve, over and over again! In any case, Enjoy the one you have, do with it what you will. I will do the same with mine and I don't think ZCO has lied about what they were selling here in the USA.

I wasn’t “whining” about shit, merely asking a question, which some might think is a perfectly valid question, since I can’t think of too many $4K+ items we buy where we’re supposed to be happy with receiving less than what’s advertised.

ZCO should update their specs on their website to reflect what North American buyers actually get… then there’d be nothing to “whine” about.

And FWIW, I don’t understand guys who buy products and then get emotionally attached to the brands to the point where they feel like they need to take up for them. I like the scope, yeah, but that doesn’t automatically make me a brand ambassador/defender or blind to shortcomings and/or idiosyncrasies when they come to light.

Blah blah blah

This has been discussed a few times on here, and my understanding is that FoV specs are likely for non-US version, which have greater FoV than US versions. This is very likely due to Swaro's current BS patent that nobody has challenged in the US.

I bought all my ZCOs years ago, and I didn't know that US version were restricted. Even if I knew, I would have bought at that time since the Patent was still many years away from sunsetting. That said, it is annoying that the US scopes are throttled (presumably). Also, from a functional standpoint, US version FoV is not a huge issue IME - it's not like you are looking through a paper towel roll or anything.

Understand, just annoyed at guy constantly whining. I love mine, they perform better than nothing else in my eye ( TT may be good, but they don’t have a reticle I want to use). Not sure I even cared about specs as they do what I want them to do. Anyway, Merry Christmas to all!

ZCO has its fan boys. NF, Impact, and TBAC etc. do too. Ah well.

@koshkin has previously opined upon ZCO fudging its FOV specs. Not sure if that was for the EU models or just for the US one. He also said ZCO does not like him because of it.

IIRC, he also said that removing a FOV limiter wouldn’t be cost effective.

I trust he will pop in to correct me if I am wrong.

I’m gonna give you a powerful tip if you’re getting annoyed on your phone. Put it down. You getting annoyed means the device owned you that day. Look at your emotions, be a man that your father would be proud of.

I don’t mean to come off as a jerk or anything…

I was just buying a laptop the other night and thought how if I bought one that was advertised as coming with 32GB of RAM, and then it showed up with only 16GB, I wouldn’t be happy, and with the North American scopes from ZCO what we get is not what is advertised.

And as far as removing the FOV limiters after the fact, I don’t see that as any different from choosing to put aftermarket pipes on a new Ducati… so it couldn’t be imported that way, no big deal, after you take delivery and own it, you can modify it however you want to as long as one’s local laws allow it.

Yes, you can perform it as an aftermarket action without any patent implications, provided you can successfully disassemble the scope, reassemble it, and nitrogen purge it, however, they cannot. Presumably, doing this would void your warranty.

Wait what? Can somebody give me the TLDR on this FOV issue?

Also discussed some in the New Kahles k328i thread. October ish time frame. Possible older.

Swaro has a patent on FoV (Kahles is part of swaro, hence the K328i). It was challenged in Europe (I think by Leica?), and Leica(?) won. Nobody has challenged the patent in US.

Seems like at least some companies getting their scopes from Japan are taking the honey badger approach (March, I think G3 razor, etc). Other companies offer wide FoV outside US and restricted FoV within the US (ZCO, the new 6-36 S&B, etc).

Patent expires soon, and lots of people have hopes that many existing scopes will simply pull out a limiter and offer bigger FoV. That may or may not be the case.

Zero Compromise represented well on this 1,000 KYL competition on Erik Cortina's channel. One guy shooting a ZC840 and another shooting a ZC527 are the only ones able to hit the 2" square target at 1,000 yards  Plus there was a ton of edge hits that were not called, you can tell by the trace.

2" at 1000, that is incredible!

As predicted, and without needing to give away a ton of optics to do so.

I had hoped some more options would have dropped from other manufacturers but so far... silence. That makes me feel the most exciting new release at SHOT this year is the ZCO 2-10x30. Anyone who gets "hands on" experience with this scope at SHOT please share your initial comments, I've been considering being an early adopter with this scope to put it through my review process.

Granted SHOT coverage has sucked ass in general in thr 2020s,
I haven’t seen anything on ZCO. It appears it was a slow year for traditional optics

Their booth looked busy from what I've seen in a video, @Lowlight was there with a dozen or so people around him. After being at Shot last year and how hectic it is, unless your a media based company with a plan. It's tough to get decent footage and release it quickly.

But yes the 2-10x30 is on display :)

Luckily every "influencer" schmuck with a Youtube/Tiktok channel is a "media company"...and everybody's covering the same 12 things as everyone else. Gotta hit that Algo... "Smash that like and subscribe".

Curious if Badger is going to have a regular C1 36mm by the time the 2-10 finally launches. Only thing I'm seeing from them is that riser thingy.

The new single turn turret with 12 mrad up and 2 mrad under zero sounds really nice!

It really is a media nightmare at Shot, and Wednesday the internet there just died even with a WiFi booster

Then the shear number of people doing it, it gets old fast. The number of sound proof booths at the big displays has increased 4x

Really the dungeon is the best place to find the interesting stuff. But I agree the experience media wise sucks, it’s just too busy

Zco sells its self, but I plan to work with Jeff to bring more Zco content to the Hide.

I guess the first question is did you play with the 2-10 and what is your opinion. Other question are likely covered by an NDA😂

No I played with the 2-10x a couple of time and I try to avoid NDAs, why I can talk about Aliens.

I am putting it on my 6.5PRC hunter but will most likely use a GDI and swap it around seasonally

I’m a fan of the mag range and it’s really a great optic
Cool, I also have a GDI waiting for one l, it will go on a 300 blk.

The hide is full of brand ambassador's and a few shills.

I got my fde 4-20 after months of waiting and now need an fde scope mount. Thinking of badger c1 max; any other takes?
None of the anodized mounts will match the cerakote on the ZCO, may not matter, but if you want the closest match buy the mount you like the most and have someone Cerakote the mount to match. Contact CS tactical as they are pros at Cerakoting scopes I’m sure they’d be happy to do a mount for you too.

You can get FDE ZCO mounts that match the ZCO FDE scope.
