doing ADL to BDL conversion with detachable mag , and new trigger , trigger works fine , bolt stop functions , mag functions but when i tighten the forward screw the bolt will not articulate , loosen to where its just about to cinch and the bolt functions freely , the slightest amount of torque and the bolt locks up , rear screw 40 inch lbs , stock is a factory Remington BDL Black composite free float

i tried loosening the rear screw and tighten the forward screw only and still does it

You can put a thin washer on the action screw or shorten the screw a few thousandths. I’ve had to do this multiple times. Not unusual.

Your front bolt is too long and sticks through the action pushing against the bolt lugs.
Get a small washer and stick it inter the bolt head so it doesn’t go as deep or sand the bolt down far enough to free up

should have mentioned i did grind the bolt down , it stopped threading before it even reached the trigger guard by about 1/4 inch , i bought a extra set and also tried the shims that came with the detach kit , but thank you very much for letting me know , i must need to take a bit more off the screw , i feel better knowing its not something bad , thanks again

SUCCESS !!! i just nibbled with the bench grinder with a fine wheel , and chamfered the edges so it would start the threads , torqued to 40 inch lbs and cycles bolt smooth as butter as it always did

thanks for pointing me in the right direction , peace out

If your stock has aluminum pillars or a full aluminum bedding block, I'd torque them both to 65 inch-pounds. Every 700 and 700 clone I have shoots best this way.

i will pull it back out and look , but i didnt notice any pillars , defiantly not full bedded , this is just a coyote gun with NV , so as long as its accurate to 200 yards im G2G , will test for function next weekend
