Maggie’s My 9 year old and his fox.....

Love the pic of him laying on the floor and poking the rifle out the door! :) He'll never forget that! Have a couple 20 caliber wildcats made from the 221 fireball case. Love 'em... fast, shoot like lasers, and no recoil!

Set Trigger version of the Tikka T3x CTR?

I personally don't see any big trade-offs. On my 527 the primary is set to about 2-2.5 lbs and the set trigger is about 8 oz. The primary is nowhere near the feel of my Trigger Tech Diamond on my PRS rifle, but no other factory triggers are. I don't have any Tikkas, but for varmint shooting...

Set Trigger version of the Tikka T3x CTR?

I have a couple CZ's with set triggers and love 'em. I've used the set trigger on the rimfire in CMP (three position) matches and its muscle memory once you practice doing it. But, there is plenty of time in those matches! For shooting PRS style matches, I wouldn't want to deal with having to...

    Gunsmithing ARC Nucleus with barloc

A little anti-seize is a good thing, but if you are putting it together and don't have any on hand, I wouldn't sweat it either.

    Gunsmithing X-Caliber barrels

I have purchased a few barrels from X-caliber and they have all shot extremely well, usually around 0.25 moa (and often in the teens) in my varmint guns. Just bought a couple more and expect they will shoot well based on the other ones I have purchased.

    Gunsmithing Open Up Chamber?

I would find someone with a GO and NO-GO gauge so you can check the headspace and see if it is within spec. If not within spec, I would hope Tikka would take care of it.

    ARC Mags

Glad to hear that ARC took your mag back and made it right. Prefer to have it right when you get it, but comforting to see them take care of the issue.

    Some sweet wood....

Sweet looking rifle... and it shoots too!

    6.5 creedmoor brass.

One thing to think about is with the thicker LC brass, you may run into pressure signs before you get to the velocities you are looking for. I've used a lot of LC brass for varmint wildcat calibers but often have to settle for lower velocities than other brass would give. That being said, the...

    Dillon 6.5 Creedmoor f

I would recommend the Forster Benchrest die set for the 6.5 CM. If you are loading for only one rifle, send the sizing die to them along with a few fired cases and they will hone it out so it matches the fired brass and doesn't overwork the brass for a nominal fee. The Forster seater dies are my...

    MDT Oryx Chassis

Josh, can you describe what the modifications are to allow use of AICS magazines? After reading through this thread, I was going to chime in as another one interested in seeing it available for a Savage action, but pleasantly surprised to see that available before getting to the end of the...

    My Xmas gift

I love a fine rimfire pistol and yours definately fits the bill! Enjoy!

Rifle Scopes When to use a Bubble level?

Use the bubble level to keep consistent from shot to shot. If you are canted slightly left on one shot and slightly right on the next shot, it can affect where the impacts are, especially at ranges like 900 and further. Long Range Shooters of Utah (LRSU) have a good youtube video on this topic...

    R700 chassis $500 max?

I'd look at the KRG Bravo for $350... plan to try one out soon. Another option is a Grayboe Ridgeback (has adj cheek riser) with bottom metal for $599, or the Grayboe Renegade (mentioned earlier, w/ no adj cheek) for $400 with bottom metal.

Possible to Convert RH TriggerTech Diamond to LH?

Sounds like oneisnone has the perfect answer!

    Off the shelf bolt gun

Those are all good choices, I've heard good things on the Bergara. Another one to consider that is currently on sale down at $1k is the Ashbury Precision Ordinance M700 (Rem action) chassis gun. Available in 6.5CM or .308. I had the same gun as this, but in the savage version. It was an...

New to PRS is the Ruger RPR a good first gun?

The RPR, Savage or Remington APO's are all a great way to get started if you are keeping the budget at around $1k. Better to start there and shoot as many matches as you can. While you are at the matches, observe carefully, ask lots of questions, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how many...

6.5 Creedmoor Bolt Gun. Which one?

I'd say build one unless budget is the main concern. You can get a Bergara, RPR, or Savage for around $1000 for the whole gun. Building one will start around $2000 and go up depending on what parts you pick. But, even if you keep it down around $2k, you will have a very nice rifle that will...

    Sit or Stand when reloading?

Used to sit at the first couple reloading benches. The last reloading bench I built a couple years ago is standing height. Top of bench is 38" high. Dillon presses are on strong mounts which puts them 9 or 10 inches taller. Built a riser for the turret and single stage presses to also raise...

    Variations in Hornady 140 ELD-M

Wow... 0.020" change between different lots sounds more than I would have expected! I bought a large amount from the same lot, but will definitely do some measurements when the current supply runs down and I get some new ones. If the bullet dimensions are changing, I would want to redo your...
