    Changing Ammo practices

I appreciate all the information in this thread. I've just started shooting .22 and it is a whole new learning experience compared to centerfire. I've struggled finding the right ammo and since there isn't any local supply of match .22 ammo I've had to order bricks. I've had to change cleaning...

Annie Annealer- What else do I need?

Hmm. That's interesting. I have one of the early models and I don't believe my instructions say that but...I have noticed that it does warm up some after a couple of pieces of brass. I also have some old brass around that I use for that but it's usually just the first couple of cycles. One...

Gunsmithing 700 action with Savage barrel?

I've got a Remage setup. My son had it put together from a Remington action that had the bolt face trued and lugs lapped but the threads weren't touched. Bought the barrel from Northland. This system allows the user to rebarrel their actions with a minimal outlay of money for tools. Just need a...

Annie Annealer- What else do I need?

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I'd saved you some money on templaq. I set the shoulder junction right in the middle of the coils then you'll get the neck and shoulder as well. You'll anneal so fast that the base wont get hot for a couple of seconds so I doubt the 450 will be necessary. For .260...

Rifle Scopes Vortex PST Gen II

I haven't received mine yet. I figure it will get here someday. It's easy enough to find a good deal in the px to use until this comes in. Not going to get excited. As far as whether they will be worth the wait, I'm a Vortex fan and every one I've ever owned has performed great. I have no doubt...

Rifle Scopes Anyone unable to mount a NF due to lapping ban?

I used to wonder if new rings needed lapped however after using Vortex, Seekins and Badger rings and bases and mounting scopes in and taking them out again without any problems I can't imagine needing to lap rings. When buying used rings I won't buy rings that have been lapped. At the price of...

Well.. took the plunge. 40X on the way to Jelrod

I'm jealous. One of the clubs I shoot at was talking about starting a .22 tactical match. I said it sounds like fun but commented that the cost of a rifle and scope to be competitive would be in the price range of a centerfire rifle. I wasn't wrong. Congrats.

Rifle Scopes Vortex razor gen II 3-18x50 feedback?

I shot my 3-18 in a night match a year ago and was pleased with the illuminated reticle and how it turns on and off. I've got an Atacr also and dont like the on/off intensity switch near as well as the Razor.

Rifle Scopes Vortex razor gen II 3-18x50 feedback?

I agree with fd. I had one and sold it to move up to the 4.5-27 however it hasn't improved my shooting. I did a tracking test through 15 mils and tracked perfect however I too found the reticle a bit thin.

Ring height and CZ 455 Tacticool

I'm using a EGW 20 moa rail and Badger low rings on my VPT.

Gunsmithing Carbon buildup on muzzle accuracy.

I've wondered about this also however I've got 2200 rounds on this barrel shooting suppressed and have cleaned the carbon off the crown once. I changed scopes this last week so had to sight it in and it's shooting sub 1/2 moa. If it makes a difference I can't see it.

Rifle Scopes The Right Reticle For Me

Most shooters go through several scopes before they figure out what reticle they like. I know I have. Vortex and Bushnell both make good Christmas tree type reticles in the price range you are looking. The Vortex PST is a great scope and the both the Gen I and the new Gen II will have EBR-2C...

Rifle Scopes Hitting 3.8 mils right while sighting rifle - doesn't seem right *Update base install and not receiver now suspect*

This is most likely or...have you checked your barrel nut to be sure it's tight? Mine never backed off however I'd bet one way or another your scope rail isn't lining up with your barrel. Scope rail threads or barrel threads aren't aligned with each other.

I need a top quality bubble level that attaches to a piccatinny rail

I've used the US Optics ones for a couple of years and like them. It's pretty easy to set your scope up to the level. Just get the bubble level while aligning the reticle with a plumbob string and you're good to go.

    Rifle Scopes Undecided need input

There's some good deals on Razors out there right now. Both Gen I and Gen II. I had a Gen I and wish I still did. Great scope for the money. I had a Gen II 3-18 Razor and it was a great scope but my curiosity about the 4.5-27 caused me to sell it and buy its big brother. I've seen lots of $2000...

    Variances in shoulder set back..

Something you have to be careful about is too much lube on a the shoulder. I was always taught to NOT lube the shoulder but I have to to get consistent shoulder bump. With the Imperial that you're using you shouldn't have problems with dented shoulders. The thing that helps me get consistent...

Rifle Scopes Athlon Cronus 4.5x29x56mm vs SWFA HD 5x20x50mm

I needed a new scope but just couldn't spend the money on the Athlon without seeing how they will stand up. If they start to fail after a couple of seasons then they're going to be tough to sell used. If they prove to be durable then sounds like they'll be a great value. My opinion on glass...

Good $600 scope for a trainer.

Went through this recently also. I also want to use my CZ for some rimfire competition and some of it will be shot at 25 yards so finding a scope that will focus down to that distance is hard to find. Athlon scopes seems to be what others are choosing for trainers because of price and ability to...
