What cartridge for a one mile shoot?

A 300 Norma Magnum, especially with Lapua brass, is a great caliber choice.

    Elephant in the "ELR" Room

I appreciate all opinions. I really do. I shot the KO2M this last year, and the body of work can be debated since its on tape. I think the KO2M is the most demanding ELR shooting competition imagineable. The cliffs, cuts, mountain throws all kinds of curves at the shooter/spotter team...

    Elephant in the "ELR" Room

I don't know Theis. You seem mad at life. Start practicing and load your gear and start driving to events. Next one is in Kansas on March 17. I don't see the successful ELR teams bitching, moaning and groaning. I see them practicing, testing and working hard. Brother, get on board or get...

Rifle Scopes Why is the schm. Bender pm2 losing popularity?

Schmidt & Bender is and will remain high on the scope food chain. If price is refective of quality, then S&B is definitely a higher tiered product. The fact remains, S&B is a great scope with absolutely great feature and benefits. I, typically, shoot at 17-19 power, so tunneling has never...

    416 barrett ammo

The best bullet for the 416 Barrett is the Cutting Edge 472 MTAC. The ONLY brass worth using is available from Barrett and is manufactured by Ruag. All other brass is manufactured by PPU. Necking down or whatever is not going to give you the best brass. New box Ammo Barrett is selling has...

    Elr central world record event

Mitch is/has a good thing going with his lighter weight cheytacs. I, like you, will be interested to see how many people revert to chassis systems. 40lbs is a healthy haircut from what we currently/past had available to us. I will cross that road when it gets here, but I have a new competition...

    Elr central world record event

I am not sure the path of least resistance is a “record” approach. I tend to agree with many, especially the organizers of the Tonopah event” and their course of fire/event organization..... as this tends to be more along the lines of my personal enjoyment. I competed in the KO2M last year, and...

    Elr central world record event

ELR is not for the faint of financial heart. As Mr Warner mentioned, travel is not a overwhelming issue. As for practice .... The competitions shouldn't be about walking your rounds in, or having a dope card from the day before. That's for other shooting events. The enjoyment of ELR is the...

Really Right Stuff Dovetail Pic Rail Clamp Video

Took the RRS plunge this week. Michael is extremely helpful. Not a cheap piece of equipment, but I appreciate the many reviews and videos Frank has done outlining the RRS quality. Chris

Night Vision Anyone with UTM X Universal Thermal

MKIII is probably best for my needs, or something that can be purchased from TNVC. I am funny about who I buy from, and they seem to be 150% reliable.

Steering clear of the oasys. MKIII it is.

Night Vision Anyone with UTM X Universal Thermal

The one I am looking at is NIB and from a legitimate company most of us here are familiar with. I appreciate your opinion and suggested cautionary approach. Thank you

Does anyone have any experience or have an opinion on a UTM X Universal Thermal. Primarily deciding between a MK III or this unit.

Rifle Scopes S & B still "Gold Standard?"

Schmidt's are that good, but so are a few others. Buy the features you need rather than the name or emblem on the scope. If Schmidt has the features you need then buy one; you will not be disappointed. Home down your needs first then find the scopes that fall into those categories. Good...

    King of 2 Mile Update

I was there. AB had no advantage other than they are very prepared and work well as a team. As for renting the back country, I think (the team I shot for) thought it was extremely smart. Yes, we will rent the back country next year. Already have the info needed to do so. Our opinion is to...

    King of 2 Mile Update

Mitch- well said. AB is organized and has prepared more than the teams you mentioned above. I wholeheartedly agree ....there is no way to game the match or have a unfair advantage due to the ever changing conditions. You either hit the target or not. Continued good luck. Chris

Cutting Edge Bullets Blog Post on King of 2 Mile

Dan and Trap at Cutting Edge are good people. Bullet is forgiving and easy to tune. Not finicky with seating depth.

    Rifle Scopes S&B 3-27x56

I have a 3-27x56 (34 mil version) on my KO2M rifle. I switched from a NF Beast to the Schmidt and couldn't be happier. Super pleased with the features but more importantly how crisp the parallax adjustment is.
